Good lord, they had some beat downs so far...

(but then again the tape delay, they will have the best ones plotted out, but still)

Davis put on a clinic of GnP, then sub.

mirko had a great mount at the end there... he was probably a minut away from winning that.

damn round times!

burky79

if its a draw its because of the nut shots but yea kongo had the last 2 rounds.

fucking flash in the pan Crocop, fuckign all this shit how he's the best ever, he got unlucky last time but this time he looked like garbage. He looked good in the first round but cmon throw some of those Crocop kicks you fucking piece of euro trash

cro cop left japan, and went off the juice. thats the way Ive seen it since his win against sanchez. its not physically the same guy that won the GP.

if you watch him now, watch him against silva in the GP, its clear that hes lost all of his explosiveness. and he's visibly smaller, especially tonight.

Kongo should have had a point taken, cause he wasnt given warnings when he landed two straight nut shots in round 2. another 2 in round 3, thats 4 total. thats a fucking lot of testical shots

so it would have been a draw like ortiz evens. but Cro Cop doesnt really deserve it, when Evans imo did. CC doesnt have it anymore.

whether he couldnt adapt to a new org/rules, or hes off the juice. cause anyone whos watched him from a couple years ago cant argue with a straight face its the same cro cop now

mendozathejew
09-08-2007, 11:31 PM
crocop was pride or K1? I thought he was x pride

he was a k1 kickboxer, then he entered mma in Pride.

k1's main operation is kickboxing. they also have k1 heroes which is mma, like pride. but its mostly smaller guys. like Kid Yamamoto, whos one of the best fighters in the world. but he only weighs around 140

check out some of his fights on youtube, hes a savage. and he frequently knocks people out, and continues to hit them, and the ref tries pulling him off, and he continues to hit them. savage

Light heavyweight bout

Michael Bisping (U.K.) vs. Matt Hamill (U.S.A.)

mendozathejew
09-08-2007, 11:35 PM
supposedly Hamill was kicked out of team punishment camp because he refuses to listen, and genuinely tries to hurt his training partners.

anyone know more details about it cause thats all Ive heard

it will be interesting to see Hamill having learned how to box. he doesnt fight "put up your dukes" style circa 1880 anymore

burky79
09-08-2007, 11:35 PM
hahhaaha....

Hamill comes out to "Born in the USA"...

crowd starts booing him...

Goldberg says thats not gonna make him any more popular here...

Rogan, with the line of the night.... "Thats okay, hes not gonna hear them!"

hahahha
Rogan rules!

and hamill has pushed the pace, without question. so theres one excuse for giving bisping right out the window

and hamill is defending almost all the punches bisping manages to get out. hos boxing is impressive, which is shocking to me. his strategy still stinks though

hamill is gassing a bit. he still should get the round but I smell screw job

how can there be a screw job?

he is beating, blocking and taking down at will Bisping.

he has to have the first two, so unless he gets points deducted in three.. he cant loose.

i agree the pace has slowed and hes gassing, but they dont deduct for that.

Are you F-ING kidding me?

home team BS....!

good call mendoza.

what a crock.

Im a boxing fan as well, have been for a while. so I can see this shit coming. a judge can really put his own interpretation on things if he wants to, or if hes allowed himself by the environment to be led to doing that

in round 3 bisping threw a huge knee, and hamill blocked it beautifully, and took bisping down. but if a judge wants to be the glass half full kinda guy on that night, he can easily say that knee landed and was a big reason he scored the round for bisping

mendozathejew
09-09-2007, 12:10 AM
I don't know if it will sway anyone but Sherdog scored the second round for Bisping. So were they in on it too?

GDRC

Yup.

mendozathejew
09-09-2007, 12:14 AM
UFC needs a scoring revamp like rogan has pointed out. Prides was much much better in my opinion.

the main difference would be in judging the fight in its totality. takedowns and dominant position arent everything, more emphasis would be placed on the guy who came closer to winning with his striking or subs.

and hamill would win in that I think, because he almost had bisping out of there in round 1, and had him buzzed in round 2. hamill got nailed with some shots but was never in danger, and never ran which bisping had to regularly

judging is subjective. now did that feel like a 2 rounds to 1 type of fight?

yes, ur right, judging is subjective, no matter how many rules there are to govern it... it comes to a human decision.

ehhhh.... not 2 to 1 cut and dry, but definately not a scoring loss for Hamill.

all in all two big swingin tough dudes. which in my mind as far as the fight (scoring aside) it was great to see, just as a fan.

hamill has so much potential. so so much.

----

mendozathejew
09-09-2007, 12:22 AM
They need to not use boxing judges.

yeah. finding good judges is harder than you think.

and boxing has alot of real good ones. and some of the really good ones still make some awful mistakes. the ring side press has scored many many recent fights much differently than the judges. like unanimously 18 writers scored it one way, and the three judges went the other way. which used to be rare.

but they have to cultivate a new judging era like a sport cultivates new athletes. and for mma being as young as it is, thats obviously a problem

Well, Ortiz/Shamrock took three fights and even after Ortiz won the third fight he still talked shit. Then in the post fight interview he tried to make nice after Shamrock spoke to him.

CroCop seems to have lost something, he looked like shit tonight - and his last win against Eddie Sanchez was impressive at the time, but Sanchez is a bum and wasnt a real competitor like Gonzaga and Kongo were.

but he didnt even look good against sanchez. hes lost his speed, explosiveness, and thats all he has. hes a kickboxer, with takedown defense. and the cage really does nullify his method of takedown defense. without the speed CC doesnt have anything else to go to.

and he seems to have lost that speed. the guy used to be a great counter puncher. he looked awful last night, his body kicks were weak, he saw openings and couldnt fire. he either stopped taking some performance enhancers or he aged overnight.

I tend to go with the former. the difference in his speed and reflexes from the GP and afterwards is to great. maybe he was a "synthetic" fighter to a large degree

You're right. But at the time, people were so amped to watch CroCop that he appeared to look good, when now looking back he didnt.

Im disappointed. I had high hopes for him.
