They can do what they please, i'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of selling it to the participants and the public, as a "Competitive Sport" and not having the "The Top 16" as advertised in the press release, and the reason for not being invited is really secondary, but being in the organization for over 3 years i've noticed that they've been pushing the image of the younger skinnier guys, which can be interpreted from
"..Spike selected certain characters that in their eyes fit into the format that they have chosen..."
And I didn't raise the "Anti-O&A" reason but it's certainally a possibility and George Shea has reacted negatively on several occasions to some of my goofy antics so it's not out of the question that that could also be a factor.

Yes ...an eating contest that on a personal level would've meant a guarantee of at least $1000 and travel expenses to/from Las Vegas for a week, not to mention television exposure for my Wacky "Pat from Moonachie" character.(careful, he's talking about himself in the "Third-Person! :icon_roll)

The press release and all the TV reports bill it as featuring "The Top 16 Eaters", i'm ranked 16th in the I.F.O.C.E. but was e-mailed:

"Hi Pat,
I'm sad to tell you that you have not been cast in the Spike shows in October. There was a lot of back-and-forth, and ultimately, we didn't get as many eaters as we would have liked. Spike selected certain characters that in their eyes fit into the format that they have chosen. I'm really sorry, as I truly think that you bring an upbeat, funny, quite odd and charming element to any contest. I will let you know if anything changes, and I sincerely hope that we can get you involved in the next project.

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding"

My translation: "We're pushing an image of a skinnier, more athletic eater so "Hit the bricks, FATSO!!"

..so excuse me if i'm a tad "bitter". :icon_neut

It appears that Pat Philbin will once again enter the Opie and Anthony egg nog drinking contest next month. Philbin disgusted with the IFOCE and their decision not to include him in the SPIKE chowdown and the Ramen noodle eating contest, has decided that he will go ahead with the show that has made him famous in the last few years. Last November Philbin puked gallons of egg nog over a demented but willing participant in what became known as the "baby bird video" . The IFOCE caught wind to this and notified Philbin via email that his name was removed from the rankings due to "actions non becoming an eater" This caused a backlash of Philbin supporters rushing to his defense. The Pests, a band of extreme O&A loyalists known as a cyber version of the Jewish defense league or NAACP, came swarming to his defense infesting the IFOCE offices on W.25thst. The infestation which included threatening phone calls and nasty emails lasted several days. It caused such a frenzy that there was little if any chance for retaliation or extermination. The IFOCE not prepared for a smear campaign of that magnitude had no choice but to allow Philbin back into the IFOCE . Philbin realizes that he will be facing a second expulsion if he participates in the egg nog event but he is willing to face the consequences only this time we have no idea what the future has in store for Philbin or the IFOCE.

BTW, a clarification from yesterday's phonecall ..they did skip over other eaters but it was after the top 15 were invited, some of them couldn't make it and they filled the positions with eaters ranked 17th, 23rd and beyond. One guy wears a kilt and another has his hair shaped like Bull Horns "El Toro" ..maybe I should be "El Toe-Go" and i'd be more entertaining to them! :icon_wink
