I couldn't have said it better myself  and I was actually standing 2 people away from MJ when he went off.
Like Glenn said your heart was in the right place and you were sticking up for a friend. It maybe could have been handled a little differently on your part, but again you were just sticking up for what you believed was a grievous error.
AND....might I mention.... That when Wackbagette lost the revote, MJ was quite the consumate gentleman and made no bones about admitting that he was sorry for his outburst (right then and there to Than) and I believe I'm quoting him when saying, "Thank you. I'm sorry about all that. That's all I wanted. It just to be fair."

The problem wasn't that Wackbagette didn't win, it was that she was not included in with the rest of the comedians who, just like her, did not get 3 car crashes.
Might have been an oversight, might have been intentional, I don't know, and I can't say. Doesn't matter really. I'm sure they all wanted that Mayo guy to win, he had support there, and he won.

My take:
Strictly as someone who listened to pretty much all of it (yes, as horrifying as that sounds) - it sounded like more than just the usual clusterfuck.
*My* biggest problem? That a douche like Flea gets on - only to do his every-time bomb-out -- but neither Razor Roman nor the already proven funny Redding gets a shot. That just blows.
Mike - if I was your size - I'd "go off" all the time.
Than didn't do a "good job" - he did the typical half-assed, slacker job that has now become typcial of most of the staffers at most of these events these days.
Aw, well - whaddya gonna do - its only "entertainment"

The only thing thats sad about it, Croms, is that it could have been so much better... it could have been organized, or at least they could have told us in advance it wasn't going to be organized at all. And again with the wackbagette thing, MJ was just mad that they kept changing the rules and exluding her, even though she deserved to be up there by their rules. If they didn't like her or think she was funny, they should have crashed her.
I still just wish that they would have told us in advance we werent going to go up no matter what, cause then at least I could have walked around and macked it to one of the gals there..
I know its hard to put on a show like O&A's, especially in that atmosphere, but this one just really didn't seem like it had any thought put into it at all. I hope this show is an exception and doesn't become the rule.

First, I really have to thank everyone who chanted for me and got me the chance to go into the finals. And let's be real...I wasn't at the same level as the other three finalists (though to be fair, I was the only "finalist" who was not a working comic to that shouldn't be a shock to anyone). I think it was the inconsistency of it that really set people off because Opie said when I was cut off that I would have a chance to finish up (not sure if that went out over the air).
Either way MJ, I love you for sticking up for me and I also love the other guys who did the same. It was fun, no harm no foul there. I didn't take the brutality personally. After all, I used to work for lawyers and stockbrokers...at least this only lasted a few minutes and not five years :)
HOWEVER, with that said I have a choice few editorial comments about the complete clusterfuck of managing of the people who signed up for CCC. As was said many times today, people took time off from work to come down and perform, spent gas, paid tolls, etc. We were warned that not everyone would get on. But first we have a signup list via email, then we have a second, open signup list in the lobby of the TLA (and within 5 minutes that list had well over 50 people on it) and they still pulled people in virtually random order and not in a fair manner (let's be honest, I got on because of LPS...I doubt I would have had a snowball's chance to get on otherwise). So I don't understand why they even bothered to have a signup; they should have just posted the necessary information on FoundryMusic and went from there. They also cut off the parade of people way before they needed to, and the filler just didn't add anything to the show (did we need to see the tranny TWICE??? Over Redding and Roman???). I understand the need to broadcast something entertaining but if you aren't sure about people, have them send in demo tapes and then pick 10 or so comics to compete for CCC.
Anyway, it was readily apparent from the reactions on stage throughout CCC that a Mayo win was pretty well ordained as winner from the start. One thing that I noticed was that there was no surprise from Mayo at the comment of having a joke-off at the Camden show. Which tells me that this was something they may have planned or discussed earlier. What I found rather amusing was that they hadn't expected the older guy to finish so strongly. They brought up Gino and Mayo and set up the joke-off. Then they brought up the older guy and via applause-o-meter knocks Gino out of the running, surprising everyone on stage. Frankly, at the round between him and Mayo, he knocked Mayo out as well. You could see the looks of dismay in the back at this. Jimmy finally stepped in and said that he had to hand it to Mayo. They did select the "right" winner in the end. Mayo knew the audience and delivered what they wanted and did well executing it. He'll be great opening up tomorrow.
Hopefully if this is done again it'll be a little more organized and a little more courteous to the people who really care about the show and want to be a part of it. And organize the execution a little better so that it's fair to the people who want to participate, the rules are clear from the start and they are followed through.
And to repeat, much love to MJ for your conviction and passion. I sure as hell am glad you were on my side! :)

I think Wackbagette held her own against those animals, but I am relieved she is going to perform in front of a larger group of the same animals. THe Philly fans just want to crush people. They boo the pee wee football kids at halftime during Eagles games. As for MJ, I don't think anyone is holding a grudge. You said your piece and spoke up for what you thought was right. You even sincerely apologized. Believe me, nothing you did took away from today's broadcast. If anything it was a very brief moment of interest. This was one of those rare shows that just needs to be forgotten. I'm sure O&A will make up for it on Monday with their spin on the latest OJ story.

As for the show, I get the impression that they were scrambling to put a CCC together with a multitude of amateur / semi amateur comedians trying to get under a stage light.
My cut, CCC is a great idea but maybe a year off from the Virus tour will allow a refinement of the process in selecting comedians for CCC.

What bugs me is that guys shout out non funny shit that rooones the acts...It sure takes alot of balls to scream something stupid at a person on stage doing comedy.
It wasn't just being obnoxious,, It was basically not allowing the comedian to even be heard.
My advice for next car crash comedy... Amp up the mics louder than the yellers and give the performers the edge they need.
One reason someone like Wackbagette had a tough time is being female she couldnt overpower the audiences loudmouths. I tryed taping the act,,, Im not sure if you can even hear her.

I had no illusions about this going in. If Bill Burr was getting brutalized, what did I seriously think was going to happen with 250 drunk Kid Criss fans when they saw a 38 year old hole on stage that isn't showing her tits?
It was fun, I'm glad that I held my own if I wasn't particularly great, and I fully agree with the assessment that the best comic for the gig won given the audience, the content and the people that competed. My only wish was that some of our other guys would have had the same opportunity to take a shot.

I have to disagree, sir. Philly fans are known to be to tools. They threw snowballs at Santa! Add booze to animals like that and your just asking for trouble. I won't disagree that other crowds at live events are obnoxious but there is something about a Philly crowd that is worse. That's the problem right there. An O&A event full of Kid Chris fans. It's no surprise though since O&A wouldn't give any information out DURING THEIR SHOW. We all had to listen to WYSP for info. And when would those of us outside of Philly listen to WYSP.com? After O&A were done for the day.

And imagine if Vos had won a spot on Howard's comedy show when his "listeners" were uspossed [sic] to be auditioning for it hahahaha :icon_mrgr

I have to disagree, sir. Philly fans are known to be to tools. They threw snowballs at Santa! Add booze to animals like that and your just asking for trouble. I won't disagree that other crowds at live events are obnoxious but there is something about a Philly crowd that is worse. I know there are some from Philly that don't fall into this sterotype but as a whole they are brutal.
While I normally agree with you, this crowd really wasn't any worse then any other O&A event. They were brutal to the people who brought it on themselves. But that Ahmir guy went up and faced a prejudiced crowd against him and ended up getting a huge ovation (I would say standing ovation but everyone was standing for everyone). Any O&A crowd will feed off any sign of weakness. Typically a Philly crowd will feed off any sign, weakness or strength, but this crowd gave people their fair reaction.

Let's get a few things staright here. They BOOED Santa and that was in the mid-sixties. And they booed him because the team was like 2-10 on the season and the ownership promised a big holiday treat for the families of season ticket holders to make up for the lousy season, so these fans trudged out in a blizzard and the holiday treat was a 120 pound Santa in red pajamas and no beard trudging out at half time. That's why Santa got booed.
They threw snowballs at the Cowboys and that asshole Jimmy Johnson. And God bless them for it. However Giants fans threw snowballs on the field in the 1990s in a much worse fashion so much so that police reviewed tapes of the game and arrested people from it. Browns fans threw beer bottles on the field to protest a bad call, two Chicago fans ran onto the field and beat up a 60 year old first base coach a few years back, Boston fans jumped into the bullpen at Fenway and fought the Yankees' pitching staff (however, this also should be applauded).
So please, blow me with your "they booed Santa Claus" nonsense. It was over 40 years ago and a lot worst shit has happened by a lot of other towns since then.

That MJ looks like a pussy. I could whip his ass all day long {as long as I get to hide behind my keyboard} :action-sm
But yes, that show was a cluster fuck. If you've got over 50 contestants, you've got to trim that down to a more manageable number. Something like Idol does, where the contestants have to do a minute in front of say Steve, Than, and Erock. That should take about an hour. Do it before the show, so they could reuse their best material.
I like Than a lot but I think he did a horrible job of MC'ing. I know Philly fans are rough, but as MC, you've got to at least TRY to have some order.
With that said, Wackbagette was pretty funny if you got to hear it. If not, go to:Wackbagette CCC Spot (http://media.putfile.com/Wackbaguette-Car-Crash-Comedy-Spot)
If you want to hear Mayo's winning spot you definitely didn't get to hear it on terrestrial radio, so it's here:

Ok, I was misinformed on the whole "Santa" issue and I never said other fans weren't asses also. I guess my point was that nobody should be surprised if a Philly crowd was tough given their past reputation. As Hoagie said, all O&A crowds tend to feed off weakness and this one was no different. It did sound a little more rowdy than normal but that could be the way it was miked and such.

Bullshit. Never happpened.
They are picked on because of the New York media which controls everything basically. New York hates Philly so any little thing Philly fans do is harped on and made into a huge deal. Fans jumping a first base coach - hasn't been mentioned since about Chicago.

That could be. I thought about the mike issue, but I doubt it. I just don't see this being setup where the hosts could be drowned out by the crowd, that is what I was hearing on the XM live show. Granted mic level issues and all, but if that was the issue, then someone would be looking for a job. Further if that was the case, some of the comics couldn't be heard over the crowd, as stated before. It still doesn't add up.
Love the boys, but the show was a flop on the 14th.
Just my thoughts.

That would be SF Giants fans. If you ever listen to Jim Rome, Giants fans have always been know as "Battery Chuckers." I think it started after an incident in 1982 with someone plunking the Dodger right fielder in the head.

I barely listened to that mess today but it just seemed like Kidd Chris was kinda pulling the strings. A run off between Gino and Mayo? You have to be kidding me.
I tried to give him a chance but his fake & overly forced fucking radio voice really puts me off.

Thought wackbaggette did well given the situation and her experience.
I laughed harder at Mayo, however he did non-radio friendly jokes.
Amir was the most polished and given his stuff made it on the air I felt he should have won. Jimmy also got a brutal line off about him too: Mohammed Haha.

This crowd may have been rowdier because from what I heard it was 90% Kidd Chris fans and his fanbase (along with that of 610 WIP's) consist of the biggest assholes in Philly. The fanbase of Kidd Chris and 'IP sicken me as a Philadelphian.

I just listened to the replay. I know, I know I am a terrible faggot piece of shit.
HOLY CRAP! I cannot say it was a terrible show. You try doing a show at the roadhouse. I was thousands of miles away and still felt like the blind fellow playing guitar with beer bottles flying at me.
Give it to the boys and the other comedians (baguette) for making a good show out of a jailhouse riot.
WOW is all I got to say...
