Looks like people are trying to have his book pulled from libraries. Not sure if the PAC would want to get behind this but there are numbers there we can call you complain. So, maybe you know someone that works in the library aaannnndddd, maybe you could call them let them know how you feel.
Library pulls book off shelves
Saturday, September 15, 2007
Michael Hamlett, director of the Jackson-George Regional Library System, plans to meet with one member of the Library Board before deciding the fate of a best-selling book by comedian Jim Norton, pulled from the shelves of the system's branches last month.
The book in question is "Happy Endings: The Tales of a Meaty-Breasted Zilch." While this isn't a book I would choose to read, I find the idea of books being removed from the libraries' shelves because of a patron's complaint offensive. The last book removed from the Jackson-George Regional Library Systems' shelves (that I know of) was "America" by Jon Stewart. It was only placed back on the shelves after numerous complaints from all over the nation.
Please support the right to read books, contact Rex Bridges-Public Relations for the Jackson George Regional Library System email pr@jgrls.org and phone (228) 769-3130 and Michael Hamlett, director of the Jackson-George Regional Library System, e-mail director@jgrls.org, phone (228) 769-3227 and let them know that books belong on library shelves; not pulled for review because a patron complains.
Fortunately, for more than 25 years, the American Library Association and the American Booksellers Foundation for Freedom of Expression, among others, have sponsored Banned Books Week to highlight the importance of the Freedom to Read. This year, Banned Books Week runs from Sept. 29 to Oct 6.

Here's an article about this from last month:
http://www.sunherald.com/201/story/131627.html
PASCAGOULA --The Jackson-George Regional Library system has pulled a best-selling book by comedian Jim Norton from the shelves of its branches until the library director completes a review of its contents.
Library system spokesman Rex Bridges said Thursday a complaint about the book came through the Ocean Springs Library. But he did not specify what the complaint was.
Norton's style of humor has been called raunchy. His book, entitled "Happy Endings: The Tales of a Meaty-Breasted Zilch," is a collection of personal essays.
"Anytime a patron has a concern, we will take a book and examine it and see if any action needs to be taken," Bridges said. "It's under review. The director is reviewing the book."
When asked if it was banned, he said, "That's not at all true."
He said a book is not considered banned unless the library governing board votes it so. He said this book has not come before the board.
It is not available, however, anywhere in the system at this time.
Bridges could not say Thursday when the book was pulled or how long it is likely to remain under review by Library System Director Michael Hamlett.
The library system, under different leadership, was the butt of jokes on national TV two years ago when it voted to ban "America (The Book)" because it had a picture of nine naked men and women with the heads of the U.S. Supreme Court pasted on top of them.
The system later reinstated that book.
Hamlett was unavailable for comment Thursday.
Bridges said some of the branches did not stock "Happy Endings," that each library branch manager is responsible for buying its collections based on the New York Times Best Seller list and other listings.
He said he did not know which branches had copies of the book.
"I don't know where it was, but all the copies are under review and have been taken out of circulation," he said. "I don't think it's a popular title. When we buy, we usually buy popular titles. This may have been on a reading list and purchased. "
However, the book is and has been on the New York Times Best Seller list.
When asked when there might be an update on the status of the book, Bridges said, "That I don't know."
Next month?
"Possibly," he said. "I don't know what the next procedure is to be. I won't know until an official announcement is made by the director or the board."
It sounds like Rex Bridges needs to be (politely) corrected. A month on the New York Times best-seller list, peaking at #4, is fucking popular.

"Anytime a patron has a concern, we will take a book and examine it and see if any action needs to be taken," Bridges said. "It's under review. The director is reviewing the book."The only action that needs to be taken is this- if you don't like what you are reading, stop reading it.
The book begins with this:
Warning
If you are easily offended by humor, please fuck off and buy something else. Any e-mails not filled with praise and/or offers for a sloppy blowjob will be deleted.

That's a pretty good indication right there that the book may not be for you if you're easily offended. Not to mention the liner notes. I'm sick and fucking tired of people trying to decide what I should see and hear and read. I can make up my own mind.

Done and done.. sent off to both e-mails
I have just read an article about plans to pull a book from the shelves of the Jackson-George Regional Library... I find this very offensive as an American. Any and all forms of censorship bother me deeply. Let me ask you.. in the library right now, would I be able to find Hitler's, Mein Kampf?? The idea that anything would be pulled at all is wrong.. The idea that something would be pulled because it offends a few people is worse. "Happy Endings" is a best seller.. that means millions of people have chosen to buy and read this book. Many others have chosen not to.
In a library setting there are everything from children's books, to books on the Holocaust. Leave the choice of what to read to the random Americans that walk in. Once you start banning books based on personal taste, you open a very dangerous door.
Thank you for your time.

SImply don't fucking listen, watch or read what you don't like. Especially with books since you have to pick them up and start reading ... nobody is going to force you to do it.
A good thing about Norton book is that it has managed to achieve the best seller status which means a lot of people are reading his book and obviously enjoying it

(There's also a comments section)
We can’t quote much from self-described “pervert” comedian Jim Norton’s first book Happy Endings. We can’t explain what “monster rain” is or why Norton’s spent more than a few evenings taping plastic bags to his floor. We can tell you that Happy Endings is a collection of short essays, which, taken together, give an overview of the popular comic’s personal life and career as a member of radio’s Opie & Anthony Show, regular on Comedy Central’s now-cancelled Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, and stand-up who’s gone from humiliating himself in front of indifferent crowds while wearing “baggy MC Hammer pants” to the shining comedy success story he is today.
Norton sets the tone forhis book early on, when he wonders, “Should I be melodramatic and talk about the mortality rate of children under six in Third World countries? Or should the tone be breezy and whimsical, perhaps an anecdote about spilling a semen sample on my tie? Either way I win, I suppose; I love whimsy and hate children.” From there, he goes on to dissect his overwrought and completely dishonest rehab poetry and his aggressive high-school mash notes, make up plots for sitcoms that could only be aired a truly twisted but essentially parallel alternate universe, and describe his quest to get a photo with Alan Alda or a hug from Gene Simmons. He also tells a lot of stories about bodily fluids. And solids.
While Norton’s humor may strike some as racist, homophobic, misogynistic, or just plain gross, it’s essential to note its strong element of parody. Also, Norton is an equal-opportunity offender who’s cringe-inducingly (in a good way!) hard on himself. As he puts it, “Well, I’ve covered boogers, racism, and farts. Quite remarkable, thought-provoking writing. I suck.” For more, check out Norton’s MySpace page, then buy this book.
