An MIT student was arrested at Logan International Airport this morning after she showed up with a wired circuit board strapped to her chest, according to Massport.

Massport spokesman Matthew Brelis said the scare appeared to be a prank. The student, whose identity has not been released, cooperated with police, he said.

“If she hadn’t done exactly what they told her to do, she’d be lying in a morgue right now instead of sitting in a cell awaiting arraignment,” Brelis said.

The student is to be arraigned at East Boston District Court today.

The student showed up in Terminal C at 8 a.m. today wearing a device with lights and wires. The device was connected to a hand-held putty device, said Massport spokeswoman Lisa Langone.

“It turned out to be a hoax device,” she said. “It had some lights and wires.”

Brelis said the putty turned out to be Play-Doh.

Langone said that the woman approached the public information kiosk at the airport and inquired about an incoming flight. Massport security immediately notified state police, Langone said.

“State police were on scene immediately,” she said.

Massport will release more information at a press conference at 11 a.m. at Logan Airport.

Well this isn't the movies. Circuit boards aren't always bombs and bombs generally don't look like circuit boards. It's one thing to just pull her to the side and check it out but we've got to move past this retarded treat everything as a bomb even when we've established it's not a bomb.

Even if the "art" didn't necessarily look exactly like a bomb (though it looks exactly like what 19yr-old attention-seeking twat thinks a bomb looks like), it's pretty apparent that she brought something to the airport with a specific outcome in mind, and got the outcome she desired... Attention. And you can't bring a hoax device to an airport and not expect exactly the kind of trouble she found.
