Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. , operator of XM Canada, today announced the appointment of Michael Moskowitz as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer and President, effective January 1, 2008. Chairman and former CEO John Bitove will take the new position of Executive Chairman.

The company has not had a president since Stephen Tapp left the company in mid-June. At the time, CSR gave no reason for Mr. Tapps departure other than to say that he was leaving “to pursue other opportunities” which in business parlance typically means the president was asked to leave before he was relieved of his duties.

Despite the fact that XM has not had a president for five months, the news of Mr. Moskowitz’s hiring is a real eye opener. With the FCC set to vote soon on the merger between XM and Sirius in the U.S., it would seem the very existence of XM Canada and Sirius Canada is in jeopardy.

One can only assume that, if XM and Sirius merge in the U.S., then their Canadian counterparts will either have to merge or one organization will be shutdown. In either scenario, it’s likely either Mr. Moskowitz or his counterpart; Mark Redmond at Sirius Canada would be out of a job.

Let’s hope that Mr. Moskowitz has a good severance package just in case.

Granted I don't know their whole history or anything since I haven't been a listener too long, but why is Ant even giving him the time of day?

Doug used to do a lot of assaults on the media and make the scene at O&A events. He was one of the regular callers to the show. He used to be here a lot. But then he left and started FBA.
He has a history with the show, but he, like some others we could name, has a case of Celebrity Listener Syndrome.

Basically, a caller called in and after talking like Tim, asked to plug a site. He plugged the show rundowns on FBA. Anthony dumped out of the reference to FBA, and Opie was like WTF.

From what I gather, there is a rift between Dugout Doug and Ant. Doug says its because he refused to censor people on FBA when asked by Anthony.


On another note, how is this different from all of the other censorship that Anthony rails against? I love the show, listen to the entire show every day, LOVE Anthony, but seriously WTF?

I don't know if I'd go that far. There's personal shit between him and Doug that we'll never know about so none of us can really judge Ant for dumping out of the plug. Plus, they've dumped out of plugs for websites plenty of times in the past (for annoying strippers/pornstars for instance) so this isn't just because "OMGZORS ANTHONY HATES FBA ARRRGGHHH!!!!!111!!!!!"

Still though, completely removing the ENTIRE break (IF that's what actually happened) from the replays is taking it way too far. That's like if Jericho had requested that his appearence be removed from the replays after his little spat with Jimmy. It's not "honest radio" to do shit like that.

the owner has attacked ant and the show, and taken several cheap shots of late. if ant doesnt want to promote the site on his show, thats fine. Im sure its members are free to call and disagree and the calls wont be ignored. you know they'll take them. but promoting a site that tries to create drama and sell its products off of is another issue
