If you want e-mail me with an idea of what you are looking for. If you have a good image to work from you can e-mail it to me or send me a link to it. If not and you have an idea of an image you can PM SpotcheckBilly, (The King Of Google Search), to find an image. Give me an idea of what you want, and what the font should look like. Also What colors you want the font in and what you want in or out of the final result. There will of course be a "wackbag.com" across the bottom of the image. If you want one without, please request it. You will have the final OK on the image.
The only kick is that you will have to use the "wackbag hosting thing" in links, unless you have your own source for hosting.

This is a project Stinkysteve and I have been collaborating on for a few weeks now. He really enjoys making them, and I enjoy doing the research. If you have an idea, pm Stinkysteve or myself, and we'll try to help. The only problem is hosting. I would recommend using the wackbag sig hosting site, unless you have you're own ftp. Here's the link for that ftp. you'll have to join the group to use it. I'm hosting many sigs on my site, but I'm about out of room. ;) If anyone else would like to volunteer, that would be cool.

Also multiple images can be used. Robification has given me permission to use the WOW logo he made in any of the sig's.
JPEG's = more gooder, GIF's have a lower quality setting so things may not be as sharp.

The could be too large. Make them smaller, about 450 pixels total, (225 x 225), then go in to Image ready and optimize it, (that way it will load faster), I usually optimize between 56% to 75%. Do this after you click the 2-up tab on top of the image window.
As for the colors, If you save the original PS file it's a piece of cake to change the colors. You might want to sampple a color from the image to use. If they blend in too much add an effect to the type, or put a stroke around it. Click the web safe colors box. PM me if you want...s.

Try this Boo-Boo:
If you right click on your sig pic, you should get a spot
that says "Save picture as" Click on it and you'll get a box
where you can browse you computer's files and pick a place
to store the image on your hard drive! I keep all my pics
in a folder under "My Documents".

I am also saving all of the original files and layered Photoshop files so any changes later on will be easy. I can e-mail you jpegs (compressed images for the web), but the photoshop fileds may be a problem, unless you want me to send you a CD. It is Mac formatted though...

I have been hosting the sig pics stinky made for me, along with some banners, avatars and even this silly voodoo song that annoys the hell out of folks when they visit a certian site. If you need space let me know. I already set up a folder that I think can host these sig pics. I just have to tell the dude that has that voodoo song up he will have to do without so you guys can have the bandwith.

To make the type stand out try different variations on the type effects. Bevel and emboss and a drop shadow work fine.
If you are using a dark type, you can try an outer glow in it with a contrasting color. If you need any help, just ask....

Also if it is a drawing optimize it aas a GIF file. If it is a photograph save it as a JPEG file. Try different settings when optimizing. Go for the lowest acceptable setting before the image starts to look too crappy, this will allow the image to load faster.

Make sure there is no space between the url and the last /img
list or that happens. I did that once myself. If you copy the addy
and the/url moves to the next line, back it up and make sure
there is no space.

they will fit where you need them (notice the
O and A toon I lifted from Foundry).
It took me 5 tries to figure it out , but I got it.

I use Microsoft Photo Editor that came with office 97 to resize my pics. It's a simple program and easy to do.

I actually did it thru Yahoo. I have an account there
and when you put a picture in the "My Photos" section,
they put it up in a thumbnail, a mid-size, and a full photo.
It compresses your image depending on the size you
are looking at. I know it's not exact , but it works for me!
I'm sure the Photo Editor versions work better , but it was
a free and easy way to get the image I wanted.
If you're looking for a sig pic you will need someone
to store it on a web space for you. Contact a mod and they
can set it up for you. (I still have plenty of room!):D

Some people have been asking me how to link to a picture in their sig-box. I'll use MaryE's new sig from stinkysteve as an example. In order to link to a picture, it must be uploaded to the web. If you find a pic you like, right click on it and copy the address in properties. For the sake of bandwidth, and to help the people on dial-up, try to keep the picture at or under 500 pixels total.
I just uploaded Mary's new sig, here is it's address on the web.
http://members.aol.com/aeast6/images/marye1.jpg You'll notice it's now a hyperlink, and if you click on the link you can see the pic. Now we need to transfer it to her sig box, so it will show on all posts. User Cp>Edit Profile. Copy & Paste the address into the signature box.
Now we need to add the img tags, so the image will show. I can't type the exact configuration, because it'll show the image, rather than what I typed. Use all lower case, and once the address is pasted in, add img with brackets before the http: and /img after the .jpg. Pretend the hmg is really img...here's what it should look like. http:members.aol.com/images/blah.jpg No spaces, and change the hmg to img. Hit the submit modifications button, and the pic should show.

When you're all done the sig should look like this.

Let me or steve know, if you want any changes. If you like it, upload it to you're ftp, and I'll delete mine. For any AOL users out there, you can set up a shell website in "My Hometown" and get an expanded ftp site for free. It's very reliable. I have like 10 sigs hosted there now. Never a problem seeing them, unlike Tripod. Worth paying the $24.00 a month just for that.

For anyone interested in how this was made, I took Py's idea, and found an old postcard of the Alamo for the main image. The next image was the foot. I googled a whole bunch of Python Icons, and pics and sent the whole mess to s/s with specific instructions as to the placement of the foot. But the rest was all stinkysteve.

Yeah, I thought it was time for a new sig pic, and I was trying like hell to find some quality MP images for the stinkmeister, but the vast majority of them were half-assed video shots.

Only one slight change.... I DID come across a decent shot of one of Terry Gilliam's "cats". You think you could snip that out and incorporate it into the pic there? I'll email the pic I'm talking about to Stinko shortly.

I have no freaking idea how to make a sig, i tried but failed. i would appreciate it if someone could help me out. Im looking for a sig of what anthony's mother in law would look like (figure a drunk older lady, maybe holding a box o' wine) AND if you have time an avatar of something similar(car making right hand turn maybe??) From the looks of things you guys are pretty damn talented it should look hilarious.
