So after ten years , they finally cancelled Emeril Live. Last live new episode will be on December 11. I think the show was good for a few years, but it definetely ran its course and should have been cancelled probably about 5 years ago.

The music was awful, the audience was awful, and Emeril was annoying. Good riddance.

I used to like Emeril live for like 2 seasons...Nothing beats the old Iron Chef Japan version, The amercian version sucks moose balls which I bet the Japan one had as the food of the show...
Also one rant I hate that Ray chick. All the fattys at the gym trying to lose the tons have it on as the crawl down the treadmills. I just want to slap them silly.

I like Emeril's marinara sauce.

I don't know if it wound up on Family, but it started on NBC.
You know what - this Emeril Live cancelling actually goes right along with what Anthony Bourdain has talked about before regarding Food Network. He said months ago that Food Network didn't really give a shit anymore about real chefs, it was more about getting (preferably good-looking) personalities who were more entertainers than actual chefs (i.e. Rachael Ray) and that they wanted to basically sell out the individuals who built the network for them.
A few months after he said that, and look what you have now. Mario Batali leaves the network a short while ago, and now Emeril's show cancelled.
At this point, I barely watch the network anymore.

Honestly, the only show I cannot watch is the Barefoot Contessa..just disturbing to watch a woman cook with less hair than me. But I agree all the good chefs are gone.

Bourdain slammed Emeril in the first version of Kitchen Confidential because it was about the personality and the annoyances (sic), however he learned later that the man can actually cook and has a mean right hook. I watched Emeril when it was new, however I probably haven't watched in 7 years. It was long over due for cancellation. However, I did pick up a couple of techniques. Racheal Ray is a fat cunt.
I still want Alton Brown's measuring cups, those things rock.

Actually "The Essence of Emeril" is still a pretty good show. 30 minutes, about 2-4 dishes, and no audience or catch-phrases. The man can fucking cook.

Why do you guys hate Emeril...cuz he is popular?
I actually think Emeril is one of the only good shows on Food network...He makes awesome looking dishes.

I never really watched Emeril, except for his shortlived NBC series, but I remember one time on the show Bill Burr was making fun of him and the audience. It lasted for like 30 seconds but I laughed for days about that.

Yeah, because they applaud every time he uses gaH'lic or alcohol in one of his dishes :)

Batali left? Is that why they had "the next iron chef" show?
I never liked Emeril's live show, but he can cook that's for sure, however all his dishes looked way too involved, complex and expensive to cook at home. If I have to spend $45 to make a dish, I'd rather pay a professional chef to cook it for me then try it in my shitty kitchen at home.
Rachel Ray sucks ass. Alton Brown rules. Giada's a hottie. Sandra Lee is a big-tittied lush. Paula Deen is useless. Tyler Florence is a good chef.
I too miss the old Japanese Iron Chefs. They were so cheesy. I don't hate the US version, but I wish they'd show the old ones now and then. Oh and I'm a sucker for Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

I used to like the show, but I got tired of the catch-phrases and stuff. He does make some great stuff though, is he still going to do the Essence of Emeril show?
The only shows I still really watch on there are Guy's Big Bite and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I really like the stuff Guy makes on his show, and it is not overly difficult to make. Plus he brings his ex-com buddies in to help him cook, which is always good for a few laughs. His Red Rocker Chicken is fucking awesome, tequila and jalepenos are the main ingredients in the marinade.

Batali is still an iron Chef, but "Molto Mario" is now on the Fine living network.

I love Guy's Big Bite, but I haven't made anything from it yet. I did eat at one of his restaurants (he has three in California), and it was pretty good food, and not too fancy or expensive.

Oh ok. I loved watching Molto Mario because of how he totally talked down to the three people he was cooking for. Such a know it all.
Guy annoys me to no end. He's trying too hard to be different maaaan.

Emeril is actually a really good chef. Although he was extremely annoying on his live show , he is a really good chef. Back in college (he is an alum of the college I went to), he came in and did a cooking demo for us and we all got to eat a dish of his cooking. At that point, he was not yet very popular, but he did have his Essence of Emeril show, and he did have a restaurant or 2 in New Orleans.
I have eaten at Po when Mario Batali owned it and it was extremely tasty. It was classic Italian, not like what you would be expecting from an Italian restaurant.

Batali is off of Food Network completely.. thats why they ran the next Iron Chef. He will still be on the repeats but not on new episodes.
Robert Irvine is pretty cool too... his show gives you the "cooking for a large group" angle which is interesting.

When Michael Symon had his first battle, Batali was still up there under the dramatic lighting...

I preface this by saying that I work in the restaurant industry and have cooked for large groups. A couple of things I don't like about Dinner Impossible, is that alot of that show is done for dramatic effect, like when he cooked for the Fashion Show and he went by cab to buy the groceries. Also there is no way in hell, that the menus are created on the spot. You can't go in blindly like that, when it comes to cooking for large parties. As for Emreril, I have never doubted the man's ability to cook. The one problem I had with him(and this one of the problems I have had with chefs) they make the stuff more complicated than it has to be. Finally, there has been a negative aspect of the popularity of the Food Network. People think cooking and working in the restaurant industry is all fun and games. So I have seen an influx of people that are not cut out for it, entering the industry.

I liked Emeril and got some good recipes from him.
When it was fairly new, I would plan to watch. For several years, I would watch occasionally. Now I watch because it is on before the much better show - GOOD EATS.
Alton Brown is awesome! I just hope that Food Network know what a gem they have on their hands!

I like Alton because he really knows his shit about food, but I could really do without the hokey stuff (lady in the fridge, goofy skits).
