I was listening to the replay with the wife today, as Ant was explaining his "home security" The wife looks at me and says "ha, your just like Ant".
I carry always, size up everyone.
Keep a gun next to the front door and the bed.
When we go out to eat, I have to sit facing the door, so I can see who is coming and going.
My wife thinks I am fucking insane. But when we go certain places she always makes sure I am carrying.
I don't think there is anything wrong with this...there has to be more out there who feel the same. Whats wrong with wanting to feel safe, and being able to protect the ones you love?
(mods, please kill if this has already been posted, I tried the search, but it gives me migraines)

It's prepared and not paranoid.
I've never had a fire in my house but, I turn the oven off when I'm done using it, I have a smoke detector, fire extinguisher, a plan and insurance....does that make me paranoid or prepared?
Same with security...I lock my doors and windows and I have a big dog, alarm, a plan, insurance and guns...lots of guns, lots of ammo.
No one wants to do shit for themselves anymore. Whether it's cutting their own lawn or washing their car or taking responsibility for their own security....let someone else do it. Good luck with that.

They'd have to navigate through a mine field of booby traps and then crack the safe. Not happening as NCPD rolls up from the alarm with an eye in the sky closing the net around the evil-doers.

A gun is valuable, even more valuable if you are a criminal. If you think that a thief won't break into your house to steal a gun when you're not home, then go right ahead and advertise your weaponry. Put a fucking sign out in front of your house. Are jewelry stores robbed by accident, or because that's where the jewelry is?

Guns are valuable....especially to people who cant buy them legally. I have heard that having a NRA sticker in the back window of your car/truck will get it broken into...the thief looking for a gun. I have also been told that homes that fly American flags in front of them are less likely to get robbed....the thief fearing an all American gun toting home owner. True or not, I really don't care. Break in when I'm not home, steal all my shit (this is not an open invitation). Ya, it would suck, but I would still have my life, and my wifes. I just feel better knowing that If I am home, should this go down, I can defend my life, my wifes, and all my shit.
Please don't let turn into a pro/anti gun thread.

Private Security...and money runs for charity events
That explains it, you lucky bastard! I live so close to New York, and The Peoples Republic of New Jersey. I travel to both these states frequently and would love to be able to carry legally there!

I live on the second floor of two story house. I have my own entrance in the back.
I have a camera hidden at my front door. If they manage to knock down that door and get into my mud room, the door into the rest of my house has a dead bolt lock that is always engaged. The police will be here before they can get thru that door, but if they do there will be a seasoned bow hunter waiting for them. I might die, but someone is getting an arrow in chest.

Why yes I'm prepared, I won't say how many guns are in the house, where the alarm is located, or how big the dog is, but your welcome to find out.
Serious question though, for those of you with home alarm systems, is your system only hard wired for the phone or does it use cell back up? The Discovery show "It Takes a Thief" pointed out how stupid it is to only have a hard line, they cut your phone line, the alarm might sound, but no one will be notified.
Oh yeah, and being prepared isn't about break-in's. Normally when we go out I sit with my back to the wall, I always carry at least one sometimes more knives on me. But also, my vehicles are prepared for a bug out as well, both carry a backpack with extra clothes, food, misc. supplies that would be helpful. I also carry similar stuff in the semi, in all cases it's also in the even I'm out during a snow storm and get stranded. I will survive.

Yeah, I keep supplies in my vehicle just added a Wiggy's Victims Casualty Hypothermia Bag that I purchased off of eBay. Saved a couple of bucks on it.

I don't have a gun, but I am paranoid about germs. I have lots of Lysol disinfectant in my bathroom cabinet. For example, my Dad is eating a tub full of Cheesy Popcorn and touching the remote, thus leaving all sorts of orange colonels on the floor.

Completely on the self-defense tip.
My front door is barred(there goes the security deposit), and the back door is second-floor, and the balcony is edged with aluminum pigeon strip, nasty stuff.
If you do manage to get in, you are going to make a HELL of a lot of noise doing so, and if I'm home, you will be greeted by one of the following, depending on what's closest:
Springfield XD .45 Tactical(night stand)
Colt 1903 .32(carry gun)
Sauer .32
Colt Army Special .32-20 double action
Ruger Blackhawk .357 single action
Winchester 20guage pump
Savage Arms Fox Sterlingworth 20guage side-by-side
Mosin Nagant M44 carbine, 7.62x54mm+bayo, 4x scope
Mosin Nagant Model 91-30 rifle, 7.62x54mm+detachable bayo
Any one of these will kill you. The shotguns will put a bunch of holes in you, and the rifles will blow chunks off you. DO NOT FUCK WITH MY HOUSE.
You won't leave a pretty corpse...
