I've been thinking lately and I think there is one thing that Howard used to do that I'd like to see the boys rip off.
ESPECIALLY if they don't plan on being resigned to CBS
Howard used to keep going with the show and ignoring commercial breaks for most of the morning, and then practically the last hour would be all commercials.
It was really annoying then, but I think it would rule if the boys did that and while commercials are playing on FM they head on over to XM and start that show early.
It would be kinda cool for us loyal XM'ers

Not a bad idea. But I do not think it will work that way with the syndication, local stations go to commercials even if O&A did that.
I got a better idea to take from Howard. Call up Loper and Smitty and try your damndest to get yourself into one of their prerecorded calls and try to drop lingering longer references. Basically like trying to crowbar in a bababooey without anyone noticing

I love the idea, but I got a better one...How about they do no commercials Monday through Thursday and then just make Friday all commercials?

even better idea.. they do no commercials for the next ~20 years and then do just commercials the 20 years after that.

As someone who used to love Howie in the late-80's I would hit record on my cassette player just prior to me hopping on the school bus. My tape deck would record 45 minutes on one side and didn't have the ability to flip over to side B. This was around 7:30am, there were days I would get home and hit play on my tapedeck and hear nothing but commercials and the occasional live read.
So yeah, O&A should do what Howie did, throw your fans an hour of material in hours one, about 10 minutes in hour 2, and occasional programming breaks between commecials.

Unless Anthony gets dentures and Opie hires a fake caller service to keep the show interesting, there's nothing to copy from Hoo Hoo.

Howard got away with a lot more because he was Howard. Tom won't let O&A backload the commercials any more than they do now/

I was a big Howard fan and when I knew I wasn't gonna be near a radio, i'd sometimes hook up my stereo to the "audio in" of my vcr and be able to record all 4 hours on a vhs tape ... kind've an early version of "Howard TV" ...
