Just love the hacky "into Orbit" reference.

For real. What purpose does it serve? Is there someone reading that going "KYA KYAAHAHA I LIKE THIS HERE BUSINESSWEEK, THEY'RE FUNNY!"

Sadly enough, probably.

I wanted to post this article but cannot start new threads.
Finally a decision, whats it been almost a year now?
For approval or against approval all parties should agree that is an insane amount of time for the government to waste on something as silly as this

I spent 40 minutes today browsing my mom's Sirius unit. I even listened to Howard 100 for about 2 minutes. Stations IDs on Buzsaw after EVERY FUCKING SONG! What the hell is Van Hailstorm? The ONLY thing that interested me AT ALL was ESPN Radio and you can get that on any radio. That company has nothing to offer me. I felt dirty and like a traitor. My XM is up at the end of the month and I don't think I can give this abomination any of my $$.

(I know I'm taking this too serously)

I know it would take away O&A's backup plan, but I still kind of want the merger to fail and both companies collapse simply out of spite over what XM did to O&A this summer.

Ahhhh, spite. It's warm... like a blanket.

I use XM for one thing, OnA. I don't listen to anything else on the POS network. Thats what my mp3 player is for.

So does this mean we have to trade in our equipment for new items? If so, fuck that. With XM's new smart connect or what ever it is, its fucking gay. I just got an Inno 1 (I have an Inno 2 w/o car kit, but I use the home kit and connect right to my stereo) that has the xm transmitter. Now xm are pussys with their new junk. I'll just say fuck it, cancel xm and be done.

Audible.com will be next for me.

I agree with Wowmagnet.

HOO HOO + Mel = NO O&A....

The reason I have XM is for O&A. I enjoy some of the other programming as a bonus, but just like when XM suspended O&A, I will cancel if O&A are fucked with.

I could tolerate a shift to afternoons, but that's about it. Show was better in afternoons anyway, IMHO.

As we sit on the door step of the merger being approved, I have that same feeling I had when I had to take my dog to the vet to have him mercy killed.

Something I really like is about to go away, I fear.

Bullshit Mel and O&A sitting down for their first post merger meeting? It aint gonna be pretty....

Why is it when its something you're for and the government either takes its time or just ouright dumps it, Then if it's something you don't like then they approve it without any problems?
I'm not crazy about the merger. I thought the FCC or someone else would shoot down this idea because there is no other satellite radio company out there and by letting them merge you are creating a monopoly.
If the merger goes through and they leave O&A alone, which is a possibility, fine. Gonna miss some of XM other channels because Sirius has the same ones and some will stay and some will go. I really just got this bad feeling.
Guess the boys can't really bash on Hoo-Hoo for taking the big paycheck anymore. Hell, knowing past history they may not even be allowed to say his name anymore.

I doubt it. Theyre one of the few actual draws in satellite.

Exactly.

Why would a newly formed company want to piss of it's current customers by canceling one of the highest rated shows on satellite, they wouldn't.

It's a obvious as the hook nose on his face....

Why would a newly formed company piss off it's current customers?

Howard Stern's penis (or lack thereof). That asshole's got an ego the size of welfare island. He's their pretty boy, and Mel will hump a chair leg like a lap dog for ol' denture boy.

I can deal with crappy play lists, and shitty customer service, and lousy DJ's. Just leave O&A untouched.

Think it through a little more. Sirius bought XM, OnA have to go to Howard's company. That should cover the ego part of things.

The bottom line is that all this talk is nothing more than wild speculation by people who know nothing more than what they hear on a radio show.

I'm going to remain optimastic about O and A's future after the merger. However, I think its a moot point, because, I feel the future of satellite radio in general looks bleak.

Bank of America analyst Jacoby remains "cautious" on (but doesn't dispute) latest Sirius-XM info.

Copied and pasted some of the quotes:
Much of the Bank of America analyst's conclusions have been based on information from DC contacts, but we don't hear about them in this note. Instead, Jacoby brings to light the high hurdles that XM-Sirius need to overcome to get approval.

Peck and Jacoby have been on two sides of the coin for this merger. With no significant information coming from BofA's sources disputing the information of Bear Stearns, well, I'd say that's pretty telling.

Hopefully he's just trying to protect his sources a little better.

I cannot remember but didnt those satellite ratings show O&A do not get a serious amount of XM listeners compared to the total amount of subscribers? I do not know how much O&A are getting paid but the merged company is going to be running on the cheap. I am not fully convinced the merged company is going to give a fuck about us O&A fans.

Did anyone hear that alot of the anti merger emails were phony. Like Joan Baker sent an email against the merger and some newspaper contacted this lady and she didnt send no email. I heard this happened with alot of the anti-merger emails. I heard the N.A.B. was behind it but could it be a pest ploy?
