I've noticed recently that I keep hearing the stupid ad through my speakers when I don't even have a web browser open.
I've run Spybot and AVG anti-virus with no luck removing it.
Any ideas what's causing it, or do I just need to do another mass delete of all my porn?
Thats a new one. Download and run this: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Free/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
If you can, take a screencap of your taskmanagers processes and applications tabs.

I actually downloaded adaware and ran it right after I posted this.
It came up with 200ish things that spybot didn't catch...
I also am gonna do a hijack this analysis agter I reboot.

Run avg, spybot and adaware in Safe Mode. Hit F8 as the computer boots.
If you don't do it in Safe Mode, the trojan/virus is in memory and re-writes itself back to the hard drive so it reappears.

I actually tried that (sans adaware) before I posted here.
I removed a few extra entries with adaware and hijack at this point...
I'll let you know.
Hijack caught a few nasty things trying to boot up as system tasks out of the wrong directory (c:\windows instead of the system32 directory)
If all else fails, maybe I actually will get 2 ipods!!!!!!

Also do a scan at Trend Housecall's site... free and catches viral goodness the others might miss...

If the same files keep coming up, use HijackThis feature to delete files on reboot or use a program called Killbox.

It seems to have stopped after running hijackthis, removing a few entries and re-running spybot and ad-aware.
I also got rid of everything in quarentine

Try running your comp in safe mode, see if the sound keeps up. Run the ad-aware during safe mode...sometimes that helps.
