I am a retail DM, and through the 1990's, I spent about 10 years combined working for 2 of the most well-known brands in lingerie, Frederick's of Hollywood and Victoria's Secret. We occasionally got complaints in certain markets when the marketing and displays would get a little "racy" (I always had issues with the Frederick's in the Carousel Mall in Syracuse- lots of prudes up there!), and in those cases, a decision would be made locally to change out the windows and marketing for something a little more tame, but still consistent with the brand message.

Many retailers have sold down on lots of featured merchandise right about now anyway, so I'm sure the it was not a big deal for Vicky's to change out the window to pjs. PJs are a more giftable item anyway. That being said, I hate creeps like Galanos that can't control themselves in the presence of a fucking mannequin.

As a friend, I would like to offer some constructive criticism to her though. Although she was more than adequate on the phone, I feel she could have given her point of view much more credibility if she were in studio dressed in lingerie, garters and stockings. It would have been a bold "See, there is nothing wrong with this" argument. I recommend that she does an adendum to her piece as soon as possible and submit it to CNN. I will volunteer my time and expertise to operate the camera if necessary (or even if it isn't necessary).

First of all, HTG should always be ON CAMERA.

Second of all, this douche Mike Galanos used the 'ol "Why should my kids be subjected to this" argument on the Clearasil ads NON ISSUE and he's used it before. I don't have the patience to find out the other subjects but he comes across as a talking head who is trying to get his name in the paper like an O'Reilly or Rush complaining about some other NON ISSUE.

There have been mannequins in bathing suits in malls for how many years? As long as Galanos has been alive. And what about the women fashion magazines your wife gets at home. Even catalogues like LL Bean and other store catalogues that would sell conservative clothing to women, have the bra and swimsuit section. And this guys dumber than he sounds if he doesn't think little Timmy isn't browsing through that once he turns 8.

I think it's great HTG and PAC get the press, but an issue like this is below all of our intelligence level.
