currently i have the se w810i and am getting tired of it...plus my cingular (now at&t) contract just ran up and i'm ready to change to verizon. i've been looking at the lg voyager but everyone and their brother is sold out of it. also been looking somewhat at the venus but it just doesn't seem that great plus i read the bottom nav screen is kind of difficult to operate. anyone have any suggestions? price isn't much of an issue but anything like $500+ is a bit ridiculous.

It has a full qwerty keyboard - that good enough for you?

My contract ends in January. Im looking at getting a Helio Ocean. Those things are badass. Plus Helio includes texting and intertnet use in their plans on a 3g network for cheaper than most any other carrier.

I was looking at the Helio as well - $99 a month for unlimited everything. It has been using Sprint's network, but they may be switching (or have already done so) to Verizon's network.

My friend (on Verizon) had the Blackberry to replace his aging Treo. Returned it after a week or so and got the XV6800 instead. Much happier. Online its going for $399 plus another $50 rebate.

Avoid the Q - its not up to par with the other phones.

I use Sprint and have Treos, a 755 for work and a 700P for my personal phone. They have been good phones for me. I've used Palm products for years for work, so the operating systems are very familiar.

The Ocean is on sale fro $199 too. Not bad for something really compareable to the iphone. That thing just looks soooo pimp.

With ATT, my bill is already over $100 with unlimited text, but no online capabilities. I have two lines as well and only one gets text. Even with one line it would still be over $100 with internet access.

Avoid the blackjack. Its junk.

I got a Blackberry Perl back in Oct. There's a bit of a learning curve with it, but I love the thing now. Small, light, and does a ton of stuff. Only complaint is that I can't get xmonline to work on it at all.

yeah actually i just got one about a week ago as an early xmas gift. I personally love the thing! the touch screen kinda takes a minute to get used to (especially if you like to text when you drive. no buttons for your thumb to feel. ) but when ya flip it open ya gotcher full qwerty keyboard, left and right softkeys, Fn, Shift, Sym, Space all on the left side.

I dunno what else to say. someone ask something, its a great phone.

hell... i was stuck with this fucker for almost three years:

I checked one of them out, I hate it, and it was clunky. About as clunky as the original V for verizon. Get a pearl for Sprint.

And, I think I'm the only person to like the Q.

not yet but i think my wife is getting me one for christmas. i currently have the EnV and although it's on the "chunky" side for a phone it is by far one of the best phones i've eve owned. i checked out the voyager and it is not quite as thick as the EnV but it's a wee bit longer.

Would seriously consider Verizons policies before signing up with them. They are a closed society and they castrate all the phones. They all have to run on approved software and run like shit. They make it very difficult to do anything cool on the phone that you dont pay them first for.
They call it a Walled Garden business model , and I am just counting the days until I can get rid of their commie asses and get a real phone.

Reports say that they are going to 'open' themselves next spring sometime. Allowing for any phones to work with their service for a $20.00 'tuning fee' or some shit like that. So one could technically use the same phones as they offer but with the phone's natural UI rather than Verizon's crippled UI.

EVen though I have Verizon and love the service, Sprint offers a great plan that is somewhat unknown. Go to www.sprint.com/sero

That is the employee plan. Use the e mail gary.forsee@sprint.com

I bought the HTC Mogul (PPC6800) for $300 and you get 500 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited high speed data for $30 a month. It's sometimes a bit of a hassle making sure the account is set up right but the service is killer for that price. They have a good selection of phones too.

possibly, but I have a SERO plan and it fucking rules. Switching to it cut my bill from $98 to $65 tax included, with 1250 minutes, unlimited txt, free power vision high speed, free sprint/nextel calling, free roaming, N&W starting at 7pm, total equipment insurance

No other carrier can touch it...unless you have a crazy corporate discount or work for Sprint

I just got the Voyager in the mail. I was very disapointed that with Verizon I would not be able to get an Iphone but this thing is pretty great fill in. The texting takes a little getting used to using the touch screen but being able to open the thing up is a nice touch.

Does it have memory on it or am i going to have to get a micro card to put some music on it?

Oh, I see someone has already posted this.

I would like to say this plan ROCKS.

My bill is $35 a month. I have free unlimited texting, free picture mail, free web access, unlimited data, included romaing, and free spring to spring along with 500 minutes.

I am on this plan, my girl is on this plan, my parents are on this plan, my brother and his girlfriend are on this plan, my girl's good friend from work is on this plan... there is no deal out there that can beat it.

i just noticed your post.

it does have built in memory but your best bet is to buy a microSD or microSDHC card for it. i got my 6GIGer for 60 or 70 bucks from newegg.com. the voyager will work with any microSD up to 8 gigs.

Just picked up the Voyager about 3 weeks ago. I don't like it...

I LOVE IT!!!

It was a minor adjustment to get used to the touch screen, but after a few days it was fine. If you're looking for a 'smart phone' this isn't that type, but for web browsing, email, and media it's a great phone. Make sure that you get one of the Nationwide Premium plan though so you get the unlimited text/pic/vid messages, Navigator, Mobile Email, and unlimited data transfer. Then you're all set. Camera is great for a phone cam, too.

It's not the iPhone killer some claim it to be, but it's a fine alternative to the iPhone, the web speed is pretty fucking fast, and it's enough of a phone to have made me re-up again with Verizon.

Also, I ordered mine online. It initially said that there'd be a 10 day delay for processing before the shipping of the Voyager, but the phone was in my hands in 5 days from the time I placed my order.

If you want to read up more on phones and carriers, I'd suggest http://www.howardforums.com

The people that say Sprint is the best are absolutely correct. I got a HTC Mogul 6800 and it does everything. Sprint just unlocked the GPS feature on it via a firmware update so now Google Maps work as a GPS.

It also doubled my internet connection speed via my laptop to 784 Kbs with bursts up to 1.5mb. The phone can also be used as a wireless access point so you can use it to get online with your PSP, Xbox, PDA, whatever. It's not Bluetooth, it's 802.11g fast wireless.
