Don't know why, but this sounds good...but not wine.

I'm wondering if it is possible to mull whiskey? I imagine the process is the same. I know these are the ingredients commonly used for mulling wine:

"The spices usually used for mulled wine are cloves, grated nutmeg, and cinnamon or mace.
Sometimes with cloves, honey, molasses and sugar. Sometimes even some citrus.
Almonds and raisins are often added to the Scandinavian version, though not to the German."

So I'm thinking Whiskey with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and a little molasses warmed over low heat.

Any ideas? Opinions?

I make wassail at Christmas...

You take a big pot... fill halfway with apple cider... stick in a bunch of dried fruit- apricots, plums, apple slices, pears, raisins, etc... chuck in a cinnamon stick, grate a little nutmeg, perhaps a hunk of fresh ginger, a coupla three cloves... then , the good stuff... a li'l(read: big) splash of rum, or maybe a nice Irish whiskey(Bushmills is my particular poison),maybe a shot of cognac, a bottle of a lovely English Ale- Newcastle is traditional. You keep it heating on low on the stove all day long... smells fabulous, and it'll really warm your cockles and muscles... and you know there's nothing better than hot cockles.

Keep a ladel in the pot so you can dip on it all day long... just keep refilling the liquid levels when it gets low.

I even let the kiddies have a little cup before bedtime on Christmas Eve. Knocks them right out so Santy Claus can work his magic undisturbed.
