This sucks --the way they were eliminating was awesome and now they are just wrapping it up too quickly. I think there's only 3 more episodes.

"LAST COMIC Standing" contestant Rich Vos has revealed the key to his success on the hit NBC reality show: It's his secret past of addiction to booze and drugs!

In an exclusive interview with The ENQUIRER, the 46-year-old funnyman admitted that for years he was hooked on getting high, and he's convinced that scandalous time in his life serves him well on "Last Comic."

"It gives me more material," said the New Jersey comedian, who has been straight for 17 years now. "Plus it opens the door to more shows -- I do 'Twelve-Step' shows and fund-raisers and stuff and the audiences are great."

A stand-up comic for more than two decades, Vos draws on his life experiences for his routines. On the mean streets of a working-class suburb, he survived by cracking jokes and being tough, at least on the outside. He jokes that in school he was the class clown -- "when I showed up."

"And if you delve into my past," Vos told The ENQUIRER, "you'll find the same crap you'll find in everybody's. For me, it was both booze and drugs -- coke, whatever, it didn't matter.

"I finally completely surrendered to the fact that I can't beat it. I made the decision that I want NOT to get high more than I DO want to get high and I put myself into rehab."

A source who has known him for years told The ENQUIRER:

"I remember that at one point he even tried to sell his dryer door for drugs. It was that bad for him. He stinks... and I don't like him!"

"Now I see him wearing a suit on 'Last Comic.' But underneath that suit he's got biker tattoos and his share of scars from those down years."

Since beating drugs, Vos -- a divorced father of two daughters -- has thrived, appearing in recent years on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," Comedy Central and "It's Showtime at the Apollo."

After starting out on June 10 among 20 contestants for "Last Comic," the comedian soon stood out as a favorite with judges and fans, surviving the first cut and moving into a raucous "Comic House" in Hollywood with nine other finalists.

The group will be whittled down to five finalists, who will compete live on July 29 when the show wraps up.

The winner, chosen by the show's audience, will get an exclusive talent contract with NBC -- and a chance at his or her own show.

NBC spokesman Cary Simons said background checks were done on all the "Last Comic" contestants, and that Vos was open about his past problems. Today, the comic goes regularly to Twelve-Step programs like Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous and works full-time to stay recovered.

"Once you make the decision that addiction's a no-win situation," Vos told The ENQUIRER, "it makes it easier to stay clean... and it helps when you decide to stay clean, to start bathing with other men!"

Thanks for posting that site, I had to bookmark it so I can check back on it in the future. I was so pissed about last night's show I didn't even want to discuss it. I went around and checked the threads about the LCS show and it showed how everyone was outraged.

Then I started thinking about how this show was edited from day one. Even in the prelimanary competitions (before entering the house) they showcased a handleful of the comics and gave you a little of who they are privately. Dat Phan was the one that broke down in tears and was outright balling in front of the camera talking about how he grew up and his mother had to beg for food. I didn't understand why they showed that, then... but it is becoming obvious they are building this rags to riches story about this hack kid.

Last night's episode sent up some real red flags. This idea that Dat "just wants a GOOD PERSON to win"... "Some one with honor and integrity"... "Not someone who represents the path of evil, darkness, back stabbing, caniving, deception, and everything that is bad"... "or do you choose to vote for someone who represents humbleness, integrity, and hope for the human race?"

The kind of shit that was being shoveled last night the American audience was eating up with a fork. God help us if Dat makes it to the final five, because I have no confidence in the intelligence of "hometown" America.

Subject: The faceoffs are unfair...

The second comic is almost always going to have an advantage over the first. The first comic warms up the crowd and the second comic, unless he completely bombs, receives the favor of the crowd. Tonight Dat tried to make sure the crowd gave Dave his props, but the crowd psychology still prevailed. You also have to remeber this is a "Hollywood" crowd, they go in for the shallow, one note comedy. They certainly throw enough of that shit at us through the movies and sitcoms they produce. Dat's ambition is to star in a sitcom. Cory Kahaney, who is terrific, hit the nail on the head a few weeks a go when she called him a poser. Dave Mordall rocked, he should still be there.
I don't know who or what determines who goes first, but the second comedian definately has the advantage to steal the show. Like this poster said, the first comic warms up the crowd, and the second comic rides that crest. There was that classic episode from Seinfeld about "Bania" the hack comic who use to perform better after Jerry's act.

Subject: It is all in the editing...

Dat wasn't as funny tonight as he was before, or as funny as Dave was. Yet the people who voted (who got to see the WHOLE routine they did) voted 70% for Dat. I think they tend to edit the show and the stand-up to get the results they want- tonight, the underdog without a chance or a clue that everyone was against was going to win. As in any "reality" show, it is all in how they edit it.
I still think the editing is a key factor. They are editing this thing in such a way that they are pulling on some pretty powerful heart strings. This "me against the world"... "will the underdog prevail another week"... is bullshit. Something tells me we are going to get more and more pissed with each and every week's outcome.

Its cause the audience is a bunch of PC morons that do not know what good comedy is. They like stupid goofy shit that you can see on NBC, ABC, and CBS. Mind you they were laughing at Dave’s jokes. Now what gets me is when Dat moron was talking. About how much he enjoyed being on the show and shit.. The guy was slowly bombing and the audience was a little silent. But with Dave he didn’t even get that. Man I fucking hate stupid people that live in a bubble. They will never know what the fuck good comedy is cause they are afraid to get someone offended. Why does Dat always have to do chinese jokes, or pull the racist card? also, why was he making it out to be like he didnt even do karate? your only kidding yourself.

side note: i think the show sucked this week. it had a lot of potential with bringing in more well known comics, and with the challenges for exemption, but they dropped the ball, thus then all the episodes seem the same.

Dat was funnier this week than last. Jeff was not bad either...in my mind it was a toss-up so I am not pissed. However, that is the 2nd week in a row Dat won by more than 70%. Something is fishy. When Jay goes on O&A (whenever that glorious future is), they better grill him as to whether the fix was in. Asian mafia and all.

They keep changing the order around to make Dat last. Did anyone else notice that? Last week the challenger Mordal went first, this week when Dat was the challenger he went last again. That kinda backs up Buffalo Paul's Seinfeld refernce/point.

Even though I'm still in shock in the auidience pick of Dat last week, last night I feel that Dat's bit was funnier. Jeff was just not that funny. All that talk about him getting standing ovations, and
Ralphie-May saying he could be a sleeping dragon. I knew when we'd finally see him on the chopping block he'd bomb. He avoided it for several weeks but it was inevitable.

I actually didn't see this post last week, but someone at work told me about it on Friday, and he mentioned they re-run the show the next day at 7:30. So I am glad I taped it... it was a classic episode.

Vos killed... Dave Mordel was funny as hell. Corey was on her game, and Rob was even pretty funny. My damn videobus adapter is still not working right, because I can't get the audio to work. I did save some still images though...
