I wasn't directing my comment (which was under the influence of the better part of a bottle of Jack) right at you. I just get pissed at the blind that can't atleast admit that Kyle is the best driver in NASCAR AT THIS TIME.

I had some fuckface on Youtube threaten to kill me, if he could find out where I live when I commented that Kyle was simply the best current driver in NASCAR. I posted my email and invited him to email me back and I would send him directions. He never responded of course.

It just gets pathetic that when Jr. crashes somebody, it's just racing. When he gets crashed the more moronic fans in Jr Nation demand blood. I love the rants that Kyle cheats, and Toyota cheats, and blah blah blah. I screamed foul when Montoya spun out Bowyer in the Daytona 500. But shit happens, and I didn't go on Youtube or on NASCAR.COM demanding he be suspended and put in stocks and have peasants toss rotten vegetables at him.

I watched a 100 of the dumbfucks toss full cans of beer at Jeff Gordon car after he won Talladega last year. One drunk dickhead tossed a can & hit a little girl in the back of the leg and I ratted on the fucker to security...he had on his 8 shirt on and was crying when he was cuffed. BANNED FOR LIFE BIOTCH was the last thing I said to him after they nabbed him.

I know not all Jr fans are this rabid, but there sure a lot of these fucks at every race I have been too. Kansas Speedway, Talladega, Daytona, Bristol....every race some drunk fuck with an 8 or 88 shirt starts shit with somebody that is a fan of another driver.

Even Jr thinks some of his fans are assholes.

Jr is numero uno, Kyle is talented, but he's still a big eared cunt.

and new rumor is Smoke in the 66 with office depot and Old Spice as sponsors, Newman in the 70 with Jack as sponsor, and UPS going to the 07. Going to the 12 is either Mears or Truex

Motor Head
07-08-2008, 07:37 AM
So far the only thing I know for sure is 31 sponsored by CAT next year. I really think Joe Gibbs would make a MONUMENTAL mistake letting Smoke go to HAAS on an ownership deal.
UPS Sponsoring Bowyer...I love the Jack Daniels 07 car. Bowyer is worthy of a fulltime sponsor, besides that BB&T paint job is FUGLY and DirectTV isn't much better.

Still trying to wrap my brain around what silly season is going to be like. The chopping block will be bloody in 09 with the economy being what it is. Might actually give a few racers a chance that run limited schedules.

Hell, if somebody wants to go partners with me....for about 1 million bucks we can have two cars built, rent a transport and pay entry and tire fee's. Hire a Nationwide crew, and have maybe enough leftover for about 2 minutes in a wind tunnel and a pack of hot dogs to feed everybody. We can steal some paint, and I know we can get a washed up driver or a young unproven driver to wreck both cars in practice and have us slink back home in bankruptcy....just a thought.

Another reason to hate the bitch...

Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway is reporting today that Teresa Earnhardt has enlisted the services of Bear, Stearns and Company to find a buyer — or at least a major financial investor — for Dale Earnhardt, Inc.

Bear Stearns is an investment bank, securities trading and brokerage firm based in New York City, and has been charged with finding a buyer for the entire operation. Barring that, Earnhardt is said to be interested in selling at least a minority interest in the team. DEI President of Global Operations Max Siegel declined to comment on the story when contacted earlier today.

I still think Lagano needs a full year in Nationwide. I know he is talented, but he needs wheel time. It would be nice to see one of the better drivers in cup that is on an under funded team get a shot. Jeremy Mayfield, Tony Raines, and a few others could excel if given the oppurtunity. I still can't believe they let Raines go...JJ Yelley needs to go back to Nationwide or CTS....or wherever they found him.

Gibbs $$$$ + Ryan Newman = top 12 consistent car.

I'd imagine part of Smoke leaving JGR to buy half of CNC and drive one of the cars comes with a shitload of money being thrown at him by Chevy, and also the prospect of having close to equal equipment as HMS (same situation as Roush and Yates). I'll be happy to see him back in a Chevy, but I can't see it being an easy transition for him.

From a Driver/CC standpoint, does anyone think he'll work well with anyone outside of Zippy. I've heard him on the scanner many a time during a race, he's like Jr, you need thick skin to deal with that shit, and both Zippy and Eury Jr know how to deal with it.

UPDATE 3: Aflac Incorporated announced its signing of a full-season multi-year primary sponsorship of Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards and the #99 Ford Fusion. Additionally, Aflac continues its relationship as the official supplemental insurance company for Roush Fenway Racing and Carl Edwards. AND Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal estimated the deal at $78 million over three years ($26 million per year). Edwards had recently signed a reported three-year deal that will keep him at Roush Fenway at least through 2011.(5-21-2008) Comment here

some news on Smoke today from Jayski

# No third team for Stewart Hass in 2009: From Tony Stewart Live Monday night:
Question: "There are rumors of a third Cup car joining Stewart-Haas Racing for 2009. Is that true?"
Stewart: "That is not true. One of the guys asked if we were ever going to grow it to a four car team. And that is exactly what the plan will be eventually but right now we're going to concentrate on getting these two Cup cars exactly where they need to be, contenders to win a championship each year before we expand."(Sirius NASCAR Radio)(7-22-2008) Comment here

# Stewart Expected to Name Car Number, Sponsors on Friday: UPDATE: Tony Stewart has finalized his car number and sponsors for next season, his first as co-owner of Stewart HAAS racing. Stewart will drive the #14 car the number once campaigned by his racing hero, A.J. Foyt. Old Spice and Office Depot will sponsor the Chevys. Old Spice is a long-time Stewart sponsor in Nationwide Series. Office Depot will be moving to Stewart from Carl Edwards' Roush Fenway car. An official announcement will be made Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.(Cup Scene Daily)(7-22-2008)
UPDATE: Haas CNC Racing general manager Joe Custer has applied for his team to trademark the #14, which is expected to be the number next season for Tony Stewart, who will co-own and drive for Stewart-Haas Racing beginning in 2009. The trademark application covers a variety of products – everything from paper goods to luggage, knives, air fresheners, video featuring racing themes and several other items. The application was filed July 2, according in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database.(SceneDaily.com)(7-22-2008) Comment here

I don't blame him. No reason to rush another team out. He needs to get the 2 they already
have up in the points standings first. Once that gets accomplished, adding a team will be
easier. He has to prove to sponsors that the team will be competitive. Baby steps are the
best way to go right now. Just make the show and get into the top 35 in points first.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - NASCAR tried to even out the competition in the Nationwide Series on Wednesday by ordering all teams using Toyota motors to squeeze down their horsepower before this weekend's race in Indianapolis.

Toyota has won 14 of 21 races this season in the Nationwide Series, and all but one of them came in a Camry fielded by Joe Gibbs Racing. The exception was JGR driver Kyle Busch's victory at Charlotte in May in a car fielded by Braun Racing.

NASCAR ordered all the Toyota motors to use a smaller spacer that will knock down 15 horsepower in the motors.

Toyota president Lee White said he was unhappy with NASCAR's decision, but declined further comment and said manufacturer representatives were preparing a statement about the changes.

Technically, the new guidelines aren't directed solely at Toyota — and the technical bulletin distributed to teams did not even mention the manufacturer. But because the automaker is working with a brand new engine and has access to the latest technology, Toyota teams have gained an advantage over the manufacturers using older engine models.

If the other manufacturers should reach the stage Toyota is currently at, they would be subject to the horsepower guidelines NASCAR mandated Wednesday.

Chevrolet has been pushing to use its new engine in the Nationwide Series, and many believe that model is on par with the Toyota motors.

Robin Pemberton, vice president of competition, said the Toyota motors are legal and in line with previous guidelines. But NASCAR is responsible for maintaining a level playing field, and because Toyota is new to the sport and working with new designs, the manufacturer has gained an advantage over Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford.

"We are not punishing Toyota, but the end result is we have to try to maintain a competitive balance," Pemberton said. "Toyota has the newest, latest greatest parts and pieces — no other company has had new engines in the Nationwide or Truck Series in I don't know how long.

"It can be debated whether this is a small or medium change, but we felt it was just enough to put (Toyota) back to where everybody was almost on par with the competition."

NASCAR recently sent 10 different motors for testing, and found that David Reutimann's Toyota was the best with an estimated 3 percent horsepower advantage over the competition. JGR's No. 18 car — which Busch drove to victory at Chicago right before the motors were tested — was second.

Roush Fenway Racing's Nos. 16 and 17 Fords were next, followed by JGR's No. 20 car, which has won nine races with four different drivers this season.

JGR builds its own motors for its two Nationwide Series cars. The rest of the Toyota engines in that series and the Craftsman Truck Series come from Triad Racing Development, a Bill Davis-owned company that leases engines.

Anytime a manufacturer got an advantage in body style (downforce, etc...) they came along and made things even. Can you imagine if they told Petty, back in the day, that he had an unfair advantage of sponsership money?

From Jayski

Office Depot/Old Spice to be co-primaries for Tony Stewart in the #14: Office Depot and Old Spice will serve as co-primary sponsors of Tony Stewart's #14 Chevrolet Impala SS Sprint Cup Series entry beginning in 2009. Officials from the two companies, as well as from Stewart-Haas Racing, made the announcement today near Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Office Depot, a leading global provider of office products and services, along with Old Spice, the No. 1 antiperspirant/deodorant stick and body wash choice for guys in the United States, have entered into multi-year agreements with Stewart-Haas Racing to sponsor the new entry driven by Stewart. In addition, both Office Depot and Old Spice are official NASCAR partners, successfully leveraging their relationships with NASCAR and their race team sponsorships as powerful marketing platforms for their brands.

"To have Office Depot and Old Spice throw their support behind me and this race team makes me extremely proud," said Stewart, who announced on July 10 that he had acquired a 50% stake in what is now known as Stewart-Haas Racing. "These are two partnerships that make a lot of sense. Office Depot focuses on small business owners, and with my role as a driver and owner next year, I'm both their spokesman and their customer - and I have been for years, because with two USAC teams, two World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series teams and three race tracks, you need a smooth-running office if you expect your business to run right. Old Spice has been with me for nine years, but our 10th year together is obviously going to be pretty big. This is a major commitment for the Old Spice brand, and we're going to make sure the success we've enjoyed over the years continues."

"Tony is a successful entrepreneur who has an impressive record as a small business owner. This is one of the reasons why he is such a perfect fit for Office Depot," said Chuck Rubin, President of North American Retail for Office Depot. "We believe that Tony's passion to win and relentless pursuit of excellence truly embody the essence of the Office Depot brand and represent the commitments we make every single day to help our customers be successful."

Old Spice, a brand of Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble (P&G), is the official antiperspirant/deodorant of NASCAR, and its longstanding partnership with Stewart has helped Old Spice become the leader in its category, as well as the male body wash category. "We've really valued our relationship with Tony and have been growing our partnership for over nine years now," said Alex Keith, P&G Beauty, General Manager, North America Deodorants. "It's been a great program for Old Spice, and when he came to us with the opportunity to make it even bigger, we knew it was the right move. We're absolutely thrilled to be on board."

Also supporting Stewart's Office Depot/Old Spice effort in 2009 will be Chevrolet. The winner of 31 manufacturer's championships since coming to Sprint Cup in 1955, Chevrolet adds another powerful team to its already potent lineup with the addition of Stewart-Haas Racing.Putting an exclamation point on Stewart's new ride for 2009 is that his red and black Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet will carry the #14, made famous by the legendary A.J. Foyt. "Tony and I have been friends for a long time," said Foyt, a winner of four Indianapolis 500s, the 1972 Daytona 500 and the 1967 24 Hours of LeMans. "I think I first met him when he was running Midgets. It was quite a while ago so I don't actually remember where and when. A few times he drove the Silver Crown car I had with George Snider back in the mid-90s and I gave him his first test in an Indy car in Phoenix (in 1995) and he ran pretty quick as I recall. In addition to being quick, he's always told it how it is. I don't think there's anyone better to carry the #14."

Stewart has always admired what Foyt, currently an IRL IndyCar Series owner, accomplished in a driving career that began in 1957 and spanned such racing divisions as Indy car, NASCAR, USAC and sports car racing. "A.J. has always been my hero and will always be No. 1 on my hero list, with the best part being that we are really good friends," Stewart said. "We obviously have a tremendous amount of respect for one another. I remember him calling me after I won my first Cup championship in 2002 and I remember how much it meant to have him call that night and congratulate me. We really do have similar pasts and carry a lot of characteristics that are the same. He is one of the greatest icons in racing worldwide and to be compared to him in any way is always a huge honor. We came up through the same types of cars, from Sprint Cars to Midgets, and then I went to the IRL and moved into NASCAR. A.J. ran Indy cars for a long time and still came into stock car racing and was successful. There aren't a lot of guys that can go from car to car and still win races. It was something that A.J. was really good at and something that we have been very fortunate to replicate. He has given a lot back to racing and has been one of its biggest supporters. Without guys like him, guys like me wouldn't have had a chance to succeed."(True Speed Communication PR), see all the other past news/rumors on the #66 Team News and Links page AND no word if the #14 will be the #66 or #70 team, supposedly Stewart's 2nd team is looking to use the #4.(7-25-2008) Comment here

What a second, they required Toyota to plate the Nationwide cars true. However the Nationwide motor is the same type of motor they use in Cup. Chevy uses the RO7 Package in cup, but is forced to use the old engine package in Nationwide.

All the Chevy crews asked to use the RO7, and NASCAR instead plated the Toyota motors. The horsepower difference is huge in such a competitive sport. Remember the whole idea is the cars to be marginally even, and the drivers and crews are the true factors.....yeah I know that is bullshit, but that is the spirit of the rule book.

So don't hate on NASCAR too hard.

You missed what I was trying to explain. Toyota is using the more advanced motor in Nationwide, while Chevy is forced to use the old technology motor.

Would it make more sense to let chevy use the RO7 motor, then to plate the Toyota motor? Think about it. NASCAR should have approved the new Chevy motor. Why they plated Toyota - I have NO idea.

Again NASCAR + LOGIC = ERROR

Haha. Yeah, I"m not one of those conspiracy theorists. The Toyotas are fast and Kyle is winning. Thats it. I don't like it and he's a cunt, but thats all it is. He's not cheating. How would it benefit Nascar. If they get caught with something like that, the sport folds. They would have no credibilty ever. Also if Toyota was cheating then all of the Toyota drivers would be winning. The majority of it has been Kyle. They wouldn't put all their eggs in one basket (Says regular Joe). They'd spread it around so it wouldn't seem so obvious. Rivalry is good for the sport. When people are booing a certain driver for winning all the time. People are talking and watching. I just wish it wasn't Kyle every freakin week.

Grubb would be a good fit, I don't think Sr would be a good fit anymore though. He's a great CC for a young driver in the Busch series, but he's cut from the same mold as Eury Jr, turn some wrenchs and kick a tire to fix it, not go to an engineer and fix it that way

It's official Newman has a new boss next year named SMOKE. Still no word on who is sponsoring him, but I keep hearing ugly rumors that Jack Daniels will get the honors now that UPS has shown great interest in writing a huge check to sponsor Bowyer.

I really hope RCR releases the 07 to go along with the Jack Daniels Sponsorship. Number changes are no real big deal until you reach icon status. And even icon drivers change numbers....dale jr., stewart etc.

And you guys are right about Eury Jr. If Dale Jr is committed to winning a championship he will have to stop working with Eury Jr. I finally got to watch the Watkins Glen race tonight, trying to keep an open mind. Tony FUCKED Junior on a very stupid call. Everybody including Dale Jr knew it was stupid. Being a champion is knowing where your loyalties begin and end. Dale has to cut Eury loose. Eury would be good for training up and coming Hendrick prospect drivers in NW. Nothing more, nothing less.

Here is the news of Newman:

Newman going with Stewart, more sources say; Logano to move up
DAVID POOLE
The Charlotte Observer
Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008
Ryan Newman will be announced as driver of the No. 4 Chevrolets for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2009 on Friday.

Sources confirmed Wednesday that Newman would join Tony Stewart in driving for the team next season.

Stewart's representatives announced Wednesday that the team's second driver would be introduced at a 10:30 a.m. news conference Friday at Michigan International Speedway, the site for this weekend's Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races.

Newman announced last month that he would leave Penske Racing and its No. 12 Dodges at season's end. He has been rumored as the top choice to join Stewart all along.

Newman won this year's Daytona 500 for his 13th career Cup victory in 246 starts. He has won 42 poles since his first full-time season in 2002, more than any other two drivers combined in that span.

Stewart has 32 career victories, all with Joe Gibbs Racing, in a decade of Sprint Cup competition. Stewart, a two-time Sprint Cup champion, is leaving the No. 20 Toyotas at season's end and will drive the No. 14 Chevrolets for his new team in 2009.

Stewart got a 50 percent ownership position in what is now known as Haas CNC Racing for agreeing to move to what will become the Stewart-Haas team.

Newman's decision leaves open his former ride at Penske, Stewart's current spot at Joe Gibbs Racing and the No. 33 ride, a fourth team being added at Richard Childress Racing.

Joey Logano is expected to replace Stewart in the No. 20 at JGR.

Also found this little item about bringing back the name of Southern 500 for Darlington:

Darlington Raceway is bringing back the name, if not the traditional date, of its signature race in 2009. The race held at Darlington on May 9 will be known as the Southern 500.

The Southern 500 began when Darlington opened as NASCAR’s first superspeedway in 1950 and continued on Labor Day weekend until 2004. The track then lost one Cup date each year and in 2005 its remaining race moved to Mother’s Day weekend.

"The Southern 500 is synonymous with Darlington Raceway," track president Chris Browning said. "Combining the tradition of the Southern 500 and Mother's Day weekend under the lights at Darlington is a real treat for NASCAR fans everywhere."

Darlington is trying to begin a new Labor Day weekend tradition this year with the inaugural Darlington Historic Racing Festival on Aug. 30-31. Drivers and race cars from throughout motorsports history will be there for the festival.

As of this week, the Indianapolis 500-winning cars from 1951, 1961, 1962 and 1977 have been added to the festival lineup.

Joey Lagano is good, but I think they are making a mistake. He needs more wheel time, and lacks the maturity of stepping up to the big leagues at 18 years of age. If I were the guy that writes checks at Home Depot I would take a pass on him and want to Sponsor Busch or Hamlin first.

Any guesses on who is going to land in the #33 car at Childress? I have a feeling it won't be Scott Wimmer. Maybe another veteran will get a shot?

Yup. The big names fill more seats. I have no problem with them doing the occasional race

Give the regulars a break and let the Cup guys race but limit the amount of times in one
season that they can compete.

bill333
08-16-2008, 08:41 PM
Exactly. I figure somewhere about half or less of the races or however the way it would work for any Cup racer no chance of winning the Championship, even if he won all the races.

If anyone ever followed Dirt mod racing , Brett Hearn used to win all the time with his big money and sponserships but wouldn't crack into the big leagues. Smart money but where's the challenge and competition? It'd be like bragging about beating a 5 yr old up. Sure it'd be fun but you'd get bored after a while.

Well this might hurt our chances of getting rid of Eury Jr. and them appointing Grubb as Jr's crew chief.

From Jayski:
Grubb to be Stewart's Crew Chief in 2009? Darien Grubb, engineering manager for Hendrick Motorsports' #5 and 88 Chevys, is the lead candidate for the crew chief position for Tony Stewart's #14 Chevy in 2009, sources close to Stewart-Haas Racing told ESPN.com on Saturday. Grubb, those same sources said, has been offered a contract. Stewart-Haas officials declined to comment Saturday. If Grubb ultimately opts to accept Stewart-Haas' offer, it would add yet another layer to the Hendrick/Stewart-Haas relationship. SHR will run Hendrick chassis and engines -- as Haas/CNC Racing currently does -- and having an established Hendrick disciple in-house would only increase the crucial line of communication between the two organizations

I just hate Edwards because he bashed Clint a few weeks ago to make the pass. Then spun him out when he was in 3rd at Watkins Glen. Bowyer even said that he and Edwards were sort of friends and he was a little shocked by the turn of events in the two races. He also eluded that payback was coming. Edwards has gotten a big head, and has been bashing and causing trouble with more then Bowyer. He may find out how unpopular he is when he is in the chase and karma bites his ass.

He nugged the faggot, the faggot nudged him, and after the race Kyle was a whiny cunt, hit him few times, so Edwards turned him around and laffed. It was even better to hear Carl in Victory Lane say that "He would've done it to me".

According to Jayski Busch was the only one called to the hauler, but as Edwards was walking past it last night JD Gibbs corned him and they had a discussion I guess.

And after watching Jr after the race on Hot Pass last night, I don't know what's going on. He sounds like he's been beaten to the knub, and doesn't know what to do anymore. He did fuck up off the bat, but once again, Eury couldn't get the car handling. I thought Hendrick's teams shared notes?

they could take Cali, Michigan and Pocono off the schedule for all I care. None of those tracks produce what I'd call good racing, they get so stretched out it's a snooze fest. It turns into nothing more than who hits the marks the best, not who races who better. If it wasn't for the restrictor plates Dega and Daytona would be the same

Headed to Richmond in the AM. Hope the rain isn't a problem.
I'd rather see the night race than a make up on Sunday.
I'll be in touch.

I love Daytona and Dega....but it is for more basis reasons. Thier is much more exciting racing at other tracks. I still like to see the "big one" at both tracks. I can't help it, it's the only place I will see a goddamned 20 car pile up and not actually be in the middle of it.

Richmond will be a nail biter for me. Bowyer has got to get into the chase. He has a win this year, and deserves a shot.

Nice Carlin quote.

I wonder how much set-ups had to change for the daytime race. I was figuring it was gonna be pretty interesting start with a clean track, no nationwide race to rubber the track, qualifying on points, and the pressure of the chase for those on the bubble.

and after the race they asked him what happened, this was his comment:

"I got in there too hot, wrecked him, sorry 'bout that, but it's ironic ain't it"

and Smoke is pissed, anyone else watch his in car after the race. wow

I also like how Shrub didn't have much to say about it. He knew exactly what it was. Now things are even and they can go about their business.

Yeah I saw that. Smoke was not a happy camper. Blamed the team for it too.

Tony Stewart is not regretting his decision to leave today. He was a grumpy gus after the race.

I loved how long it took for them to get that interview. They were probably giving him his meds in the trailer.

I don't have hot pass, but I do remember last year when he won at Loudon and was panic stricken for the last 5 laps. He was nearly shouting on the radio the car was about to burst into flames, or something just broke and it was tight. Gil just kept saying "your fine, just keep going"

A lot of pressure at Cup level for these guys. Clint is an emotional guy like Tony Stewart.

The sun was out by 4:30. They could have run it. I'll post some pics later.

Nascar canceled the race by 5 pm on Friday. That was b/s. The rain was done by 3pm
on Saturday. I swear they just didn't want to miss that full day of people buying shit
from the retailers. Lots of merchandise, food and beer wouldn't have been sold if they
still had the race on Saturday.

And why did it start at 1PM and not 11 like most rainouts? They opened the track at
7am so they still got 6 hours of prerace sales in before the race started. Alot of people
were pissed. There were alot of empty seats for a Cup race.

I still had a great time and saw a good race but I think Nascar blew it by not running
the race on Saturday night. Made my drive home a bitch too.

Its par for the course though. Nascar continually makes the wrong calls on what seems like everything nowadays. Part of the reason there are tons of empty seats when they pan the stands and also the big drop in TV ratings. The fans are finally showing their disgust with the way things are being run. I haven't been to a race since Richmond Fall of 04.
