Recently widowed, Cindy Clothier was happy about moving in with her boyfriend, family members said.
They credited her newfound joy to the relationship she had with a man they knew as Chris.
Things looked hopeful for the pair, said one family member, although relatives knew little about Clothier's new beau.
The pair's romance was short-lived. On Saturday, police found Clothier's body stuffed under a bed in their apartment at the Camaron Apartments, on Walnut Lane near Henry Avenue, in Roxborough. Police said she had been strangled by her boyfriend after an argument Saturday.
"This is so weird," said a 21-year-old family member, who was at the apartment complex last night and identified herself as Clothier's cousin-in-law, but declined to give her full name. "We just seen her and everything seemed so happy and normal."
Clothier's boyfriend, who was not identified by police, was arrested yesterday and charged with murder.
Cops said the couple - who had moved into the complex together about two weeks ago - argued Saturday evening. The argument escalated and Clothier's boyfriend allegedly strangled her about 6:15 p.m.
Clothier, 35, had been reported missing Saturday after her brother called and visited her apartment repeatedly because her family hadn't heard from her in several days, according to the family member. She said another family member, who lived across the hall from Clothier, had overheard the couple arguing on Thursday.
"That was the last time anyone in the family saw her," she said.

Chris, I hope for the best. But, if the police made an arrest and filed charges... there's probably something to it. They don't do these things on a whim, especially in today's litigous society.

Sure doesn't sound good.... In all honesty I havnt seen him in like 9 years... and last i saw him he looked like a crackhead... but, when i asked about his looks i was told he was realy sick with something... and thats the last i really knew of him... i guess he moved to PA.


I know this guys whole family his mom was my lunchlady in middle school... the family are all including him good people... non violent..not even fighters.

If this is true there is no dought in my mind drugs had something to do with it... I could make a better determination of course if i had seen him more recently.....
