When I saw what these guys were really doing, I just became so sad for them... I honestly, in good conscience, can't bring myself to knock these guys down a peg, because it's so obvious the world has done that enough so that now they can only exist in the safety of acting like cartoon characters.

I would rather my kid be able to tell me he's gay than have to pretend to be a cartoon character to feel accepted.

That would be the appropriate use for this stuff. Also acceptable is sexual uses. Dressing up on a regular day and going out on the town is just plain weird.
