I had an interview last week and have another this week for a Advertising Sales job. Anyone have experience with this or know someone who does? I hear it is pretty difficult but can be fun. Thanks assholes.

having succesfully sold internet classified advertising for the past 6 years all I can tell you is that I sold against radios constant stressing of "frequency" of advertising, in other words you've got to buy into massive amounts of spot ads in high listening times in order for it to be remotely effective. Constantcy in most major markets requires a large contract (good for you) but many businesses have found much more effective ROI (return on investment) thru SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) of their own existing web sites thru display advertising online, etc.
It's a tough, tough market out there right now in advertising w/rates being as high as they are for some mediums.
Make sure you are offered a good territory to sell into and make sure it's not filled w/tons of account receivable issues that they could potentially pin on you and write off against your earnings, companies are infamous for doing this shit when they put a newbie into an existing territory. They will tell you "Yeah but don't worry about that, we'll take care of it for you..." Make sure that you don't take any negative effect from the write off during your "ramp up period" in the new territory, otherwise they will stack up all sorts of shit non paying accounts to write off on to your monthly number (not good for you to start out with) trust me (ask anyone who's sold advertising) they will try to pull this shit with you.

Radio stations are constantly hiring new sales people, that should tell you something.
If you're a go getter, you'll do alright. Go rent Glengarry Glen Ross.
