Major Update On Ric Flair's WrestleMania XXIV Opponent

WrestleMania XXIV is expected to be the clumination of Ric Flair's retirement storyline and his final match in WWE. Two names that have been discussed as possible opponents for Flair have been Mr. Kennedy and Shawn Michaels. It now looks like Shawn Michaels will be Flair's final opponent.

Two independent sources within WWE have confirmed that the current plan is for Michaels to end Flair's career and that Vince McMahon has already approved the match.

We will see what plays out in the coming weeks but that is the current scenario being discussed.



Also is anyone interested in the Brock Lesners fight this weekend??
I dont follow the UFC but i have paid close attention in the past weeks because of all of the Brock Lesner news. Im not going to buy the PPV but i definetly have an interest to his fight. I hope he wins, but i dont think that he will.

Jason Agnew : Lets get into the uh, your big push. Easily the biggest push of your career came in the spring of 2006 when they put the WWE and ECW titles on you. That push came to a halt of course after you and Sabu were pulled over on the highway on the way to a show and were in possession of marijuana. Now do you feel that the company reacted in the right way to what you guys did?

Rob Van Dam: The one school of thought says isn’t it supposed to be innocent till proven guilty? We didn’t have any hearing or trial or any questions before I was suspended. It was straight up hours after I had gotten pulled over so. I’m already fried in the media at that point so from a justice perspective it might not have been the exact right way, legally to go about it and to protect my situation. At the same time I did feel like they had to do that. It was all over the, you know I told Sabu on the way to the building “Relax, no ones even gonna hear about this, whats the big deal?” He was like “Are you sure?” I go “Dude, you know don’t worry about it. We got a phone call as we were about to pull in to the arena from Johnny Ace and apparently it was all over the internet, all over the radio and soon it was in the news papers. It was the biggest thing ever and the thing is people wanted to apologize for me. They wanted say “Ok yes, Rob messed up and he admits that you know and it’s about moving on.” You never heard me say I’m sorry, you never will here me say I’m sorry. The people who say it couldn’t have happened at a worse time, I say it couldn’t have happened at a better time because if I was not the world champion at the time nobody would have cared. Nobody would have given a crap and as I said it’s a good thing having your name in the news you know, my name was mentioned all over the place. Was I attached to and associated to something I was embarrassed about, hell no. I’m a strong abdicator for cannabis as you probably know and anytime a celebrity is associated with it, it makes a move in the right direction as far as changing the climate. People were told it’s a deadly drug, it kills people and that’s why it was outlawed. Now 40 years later they never told them any different. People are just feeling a little different about it because people like me, like Kevin on the Tonight Show, like many, many people on television make light of it and guess what when heroes are associated with it that makes light of it and that’s a good thing.

Jason Agnew : Hey man I agree with you, I just think at that time it might have done well for you in the world of pop culture but in the world of WWE politics they just nailed you to the wall for it.

Rob Van Dam: Right and did you really think I was going to be the longest reigning world champion?

Jason Agnew : No but don’t you think that part of ECW going down the tubes as it is now might have been due to the timing on that conviction there?

Rob Van Dam: Well I’ll tell ya what, definitely, just in perspective but because I know what I know I don’t feel about it the same way. Now I’m going to share with you some of the things I know. Vince wanted to add rules; he told me that he never, ever planned on making ECW anything goes. He said “Well I have to add credibility; I’ve added credibility to the rest. His idea of extreme was going to be have Kelly Kelly out there dancing somewhere in the show and then Sandman out there drinking some beers. To him that made this different than Raw and Smackdown in and edgy way. That was his version of being extreme which was crazy to me. That’s what's going to happen regardless, I was gonna be off for 30 days. When I came back did I wrestle Big Show for the title? Hell no. He kept me at the bottom of the card, the middle of the card; it took me months to work my way back up even though everybody was at those house shows to see me. I knew that and the agents would tell me every night that me and Sabu were the ones getting a reaction. Well big surprise, I already knew that but because of the genius writers and their agenda what's happening to ECW was going to happen either way. Honestly at the end of that 30 day suspension I asked for more time, I asked for more time off.

Jason Agnew : Well you know what having said that though; we mentioned cannabis earlier and that whole thing that just happened. What are your thoughts on now the WWE wellness policy testing for pot?

Rob Van Dam: Ridiculous! Ridiculous, they’re under the scrutiny of congress so they don’t really have a choice. It’s not just the WWE; it is TNA as well and from what I understand congress has their hands on everything. I think that the urine samples are being sent to congress. You know it’s out of their hands, obviously do I think it should be hot water, of course not. Since it is and they’re banning all these substances, tell ya what, they’re really making it hard to do a job like that. Most people don’t realize the pain that the body goes through being a pro wrestler just from seeing what they see, the damage in the ring. You know during a normal match every night, I’d say I’m in about 50 car crashes. What you don’t consider when you are just watching it is that you have no time to recuperate because you’re traveling to the next town, your not sleeping because you’ve got to catch that early morning flight and drive 300 miles the night before. You noly finding time to hit the gym and you don’t have energy to work out anyways so now they want to take away pain pills. They want to away muscle relaxers which you’re obviously being on a doctors prescription for that anyway. Yeah some of the boys abuse it and definitely need to get help. Other adults know how to use medicine properly and unfortunately have to suffer along with the system. They want to take away anything that helps them recuperate and heal like in the form of the steroids and they want to take away pot to help them, again pot helps everything from dealing with pain, coping to help dealing with the not getting rest and dealing stress. It’s just, it can make you feel good when you don’t feel good, and it’s a good thing. I’ll tell ya what, you think now if they ban everything, they are about to ban coffee to tell you the truth, the list of substances is so huge and I’m not saying that if you’re going to be doing a wellness program that you shouldn’t have all of these but it felt like a strong violation of my freedom. To actually have someone go into my body and take my urine from my bladder, I’m responsible, I can take care of myself and I don’t need anybody babysitting me. I’m a contractor out for hire; you know when I’m a pro wrestler. I’m there, I drive by myself for the most part, I show up at the building, I do my job and when I’m done I leave. To make it more than that when you’re still an independent contractor not an employee, it’s really onerous and the point I want to make is this really, really is going to drive a lot of wrestlers to be alcoholics. It’s really hard to drive and wrestle and maintain an athletic physic when you have to pound back beers because that’s the only thing that they’re not tested for, which by the way alcohol is one of the ten deadliest drugs we have.

Jason Agnew : So in your opinion Rob, having said all that, is the wellness policy of the WWE helping or hindering the industry?

Rob Van Dam: I would say the industry it’s helping, the boys it’s hurting. So from that perspective it just shows you it’s a business and the boys can be treated like cattle, if it’s better for the industry and it can make more money for the guys on top then they’ll do it. If the boys have suffer more because they have to drive, fly from a different airport because it’s cheaper and all that, that’s usually not even considered, it’s like screw the boys, they’re the cattle, they’re the robots that are asked to do things that most humans could never do in their wildest imagination and everything to maintain that schedule so there’s your answer. I think it’s better for the industry, I think it’s harder on the boys and there you go. Some of the guys have problems that are abusive and can’t take care of themselves, they should be pulled aside either way and dealt with and everyone knows who they are. It’s just like security at the airport, we’re not all going to blow the airplane up but because there and a few bad apples we all got to take our shoes off and bend over and get our rectal exam just to deal with public transportation.

'Mania 24 Plans/Spoilers, WWE Firing, Monty Brown's Status

The plan right now is for John Cena to wrestle Triple H for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, which means Cena is winning the title from Randy Orton at No Way Out, which takes place on February 17 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. There have also been talks of doing a three-way match at WrestleMania between Cena, Triple H and Orton. Either way, Triple H and Cena are definitely going to be in the title match.

From what I understand, Dave Lagana, the former writer of ECW who was fired last week, did himself no favor by losing to TNA Impact in the Nielsen Ratings a few weeks back.

For those that have asked, Monty Brown (Marcus Cor Von) is not doing anything wrestling related at the time being. The door is open to him with WWE if he decides to return to the business.

I agree with you 100%. Normally, I'd like for them to build a younger guy in need of some rub but in this case, they should just go for the best match they can have. Give Flair a top notch opponent who he hasn't fought in a high profile match (if at all) at the biggest stage of them all. Win or lose it will be great since even with Flair being drastically slower than he was even a few years ago, Shawn will be able to carry him and make it epic. Plus, I think that Shawn wouldn't mind jobbing to Flair in this one.

Smackdowns roster just got totally depleated. Smackdown used to be my favorite show out of all of the three. But i dont even watch it anymore. all of their storylines sux and theres really no big draw to the show other then Batista, Taker, and Edge... minus Vickie

They are the show that gets fucked over the most. They lost Kennedy, Booker, and Benoit. They gained Masters( released), Torrie Wilson( I think she is injured), anf Flair (who spends most of his time on Raw). Whenever there is a draft they lose good people for shitty wrestlers. The only one I remeber beiing reall excited about was Christian(he left two or three weeks later). Truthfully they have never revovered from that ass fucking Vince gave them. If anyoe needs star power at this point it is Smackdown not Raw.

They also need a timeslot change. Friday isnt exactly a big TV-watching night for most people in the male 18-34 demographic. I couldn't tell you what the hell is going on on that show because I'm never watching TV when it's on and I can't be bothered to tape it when there's only a couple people worth watching on the entire show. TNA iMPACT! Going Live Soon?, New TNA Show, Low Ki Injured

Dave Meltzer is reporting that iMPACT! may start going live every other week as soon as March. If this does happen the tapings will be moved to Thursday and Friday.

Meltzer also reports that Spike TV is interested in airing a secondary TNA show that focuses only on the Knockouts. The show would air matches, photo shoots, interviews and more. It would most likely air on Saturday night's.

I don't think it has anything to do with the way he left (or the abortion that was him almost coming back) but rather that if he doesn't do well with UFC why would the WWE want him? QFT. When I heard that Cena came back at the Rumble, I was going to keep an open mind. Thinking that since his returned probably changed the direction they wanted to go in, it would have a positive impact on the Smackdown roster, by moving some of the talent from Raw over to there.

Just a quick reminder that WWE will be taping two weeks worth of Monday Night Raw tonight in Austin, TX as the company will be overseas in Japan for next Monday. As always, we are looking for reports from the show tonight in Austin. If you are attending and would like to send in a report, you can do so by clicking my name above.

Our correspondent Sheist Malone that is attending tonight’s WWE RAW tapings in Austin, Texas just notified us to tell us that there is already a big line in front of the doors to enter tonight’s tapings at the Frank Erwin Center. As we noted earlier, Austin has traditionally been a town that has not drawn well for WWE. Be sure to join us later today for live coverage of the RAW tapings as they happen.

John Cena will kick off Raw with an official contract signing for his WWE Championship match at No Way Out with Randy Orton.

Hornswoggle will join Vince McMahon's 'Kiss My Ass' club on RAW tonight.

More Jeff Hardy and more Divas as well on RAW.

3. smackdown writers- shoud've joined the WGA. the line-up for their EC match generally stinks. wwe is always trying to push the "big" guys when khali, viscera, and snitsky will never get top billing, no matter how much screen time and pushes they get. at least the big show had some skill, charisma and personality.

5. as many of you know, the only reason i even work every now and then as an EMT and keep the license valid is for event standbys. i got the raw and SD house shows last year and i have SD taping/ECW live show on tuesday 3/18/08. the sets and shit will make it a little more difficult to get pics and stuff but hopefully tim white and the c-blocking partner i had last time won't be there.

i've got some pics to get and others to get signed.

Cena should have lost to HBK at Mania (and would have lost to HHH if he didn't get hurt) but it was probably a good thing he didn't considering HBK was injured shortly thereafter (and probably was at the time of WM anyway). There was no one ready at the time to take the strap. They still need to push guys like Hardy and Kennedy.

Don't worry though, there should be no way that HHH is not champion come Wrestlemania.

One of the worst endings ever. Seriously, it was fucking retarded. I can see if he was arm wrestling Orton and battled back and was poised to win (torn peck and all)...but this was Mark Henry, WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN! I'll second everything you said, will also add this: The over coming the odds angle really bugs me. Look at two of his feuds last year:

Khali: Unstoppable force that gave the Undertaker a run for his money for like six months. Cena disposes of him in two matches

Umaga: Unstoppable force that was running over competition left and right, including Triple H and HBK. Cena disposes of him in like 2 or 3 matches.

As for last night:

So let me understand this, a team becomes #1 contender to the tag titles by beating another team in a match that lasts less than 2 minutes. With most of the match, involving one guy chasing the other guy around the ring.

Speaking of the Carlito-Santino team, it seems the only reason why they're doing it, is to pump up Maria's Playboy shoot. As much as I want to see naked photos of Maria, they can be doing alot more with the Carlito-Santino angle.

If Triple H wasn't there last night or whenever it was taped, how would have they set up the six man match.

Vince's ass kissing club segment and advice on parenting, disturbing and funny at the same time.

I get more impressed each week with Kennedy as a complete wrestler.

As for No Way Out, the more I think about it, two EC matches may wind up being a clusterfuck.

Yesterday WWE released 7 contracted wrestlers, including former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley. We're told there are more cuts on the way in the next few weeks.

For those that did not read the taping results, the incestuous angle involving Paul Burchill and Katie Lea as brother and sister will debut on next Monday’s edition of RAW. Burchill faces Brian Kendrick on the show.

ECW opens up with CM Punk talking about ruining Chavo Guerrero's Mariachi Fiesta last week. Punk invokes his rematch clause, saying that he wants it tonight against Chavo for the ECW Championship. ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero comes out and tells Punk that he will not get his rematch until No Way Out.

ECW General Manager Armando Estrada comes out and says that Chavo will take on CM Punk tonight in a Gulf of Mexico match. It is explained that the point of the match is to throw your opponent into the Gulf of Mexico and obviously it will not be for the ECW Championship.

Victoria & Layla defeat Michelle McCool & Kelly Kelly
Victoria got the pin in a quick divas tag match. Our correspondent said that it was boring and the crowd was not into the match.

John Morrison defeated Tommy Dreamer
Our correspondent told us that Dreamer dominated most of the match but The Miz distracted Dreamer from the outside. Miz's distraction allowed Morrison to score the pinfall on Dreamer. It should be noted that Colin Delaney came to ringside with Dreamer.

Kofi Kingston defeated James Curtis
Kingston had the same type of TV match that he has had in recent weeks. He won the match by pinfall.

Chavo Guerrero defeats ECW Champion CM Punk
This is a non-title Gulf of Mexico match. As soon as the match starts it goes to the outside and into the crowd. The fight goes from the crowd to outside of the arena. Punk ends up hitting Go to Sleep on Chavo, sending him into the Gulf of Mexico for the victory.

The person that disliked Punk the most has recently been fired -- that person being writer Dave Lagana, who was responsible for Chavo Guerrero's push to the ECW title. Lagana was also the one person pushing for John Morrison to go over on Punk. Dusty Rhodes is a big fan of Punk and Michael Hayes has been trying to get him on Smackdown.

The show started 6:00 PM Central Time with a dark match of Charlie Haas beating Val Venis he had a backup mask when Venis grabbed the first one. And lucky for us it was two tapings, this week and next weeks so the commercial breaks wasn't really there.

I was top left of the tv screen by the turnbuckle, sporting the Obey Fez shirt. They took my friend's B-day shout out/other side had "I'm hung like Benoit" sign after the crowd hype filming during Law & Order.

What was missed on the show, many of the crowd booed Cena but didnt sound like it on the show. when Kennedy beat Super Crazy when he went for his mic it didn't work the first couple of seconds, so next week he'll be using a regular mic.
As for next week
Hornswaggle over Mcmahon by Finlay interference. Mcmahon didnt fire Finlay and the week after Mcmahon and Hornswaggle in a cage match.
Y2J over JBL in a clean finish. Umaga came in after the match to thumb both guys.

BREAKING NEWS: WWE and OVW part ways, WWE makes a huge mistake and fires Al Snow

World Wrestling Entertainment has severed all ties with Ohio Valley Wrestling. Effective immediately, OVW will no longer be a WWE developmental territory. Here are the details:

-- A meeting was held today with all contracted developmental talent. WWE's John Laurinaitis and Ty Baily made the announcement that all of the contracted wrestlers training at OVW there would be heading to Florida Championship Wrestling - which is now WWE's only developmental territory.

-- WWE wants all of their developmental talent in one place. From a logistical standpoint, it didn't make business sense to have their developmental talent in Kentucky, specially since so many WWE employees live in Florida.

- Talent was told that there will be no releases stemming from OVW shutting down and that they will all be relocated to Tampa after finishing a few more weeks in OVW.

- Talent was told the trainers in FCW would be Tom Prichard, Steve Keirn, former WWE star Billy Kidman

- FCW is slated to run its first official TV taping later this month and there have been plans in place to run a regular schedule of live events in Florida.

Over the years, OVW has groomed a number of WWE's biggest stars, including Brock Lesnar, Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton, among others.


On the heels of WWE ending their affiliation with Ohio Valley Wrestling, they have released Al Snow, who was a long-time trainer in OVW.
