Don and Mike Threaten To Leave Westwood One

Don Geronimo and Mike O’Meera, whose afternoon radio show is syndicated to over fifty markets nationwide, have told their audience they are not happy with their current syndication contract with Westwood One, and would be happy just broadcasting to stations that pay them directly: WJFK/Washington, WXYV/Baltimore, WYSP/Philadelphia, WOSC/Ocean City, MD and KCJJ/Iowa City.
"We currently don’t have a contract with Westwood One," Geronimo told listeners today. The duo claim that they are getting paid under $100 a month for some of their syndication rights.

Don and Mike have also openly discussed the possibility that WYSP may not renew its contract with them at the end of September, if the pair’s ratings don’t improve. Geronimo and O’Meera recently signed a five-year multi-million dollar contract extension with home station WJFK.

What reasons have Don and Mike given for their poor ratings in philly. I know they blamed O&A for failing in NY, even though they had plenty of time to build an audience before they became enemies, what is their reason for Philly? Because I know that they have to have some excuse, because it couldn't just be that they suck and real radio markets don't like them.

They are mainly spinning it that WYSP, (specificly PD tim sabean) isn't showing them the support that they showed the bbbbbbboys. :rolleyes: they also used the war as an excuse (i.e. more people tuned into news stations when in reality, NOTHING has changed... they just suck.

I heard this getting in my car on Thursday afternoon and I couldn't have been happier, they stink and I don't like them.

What a bunch of mornons, they used to brag that they were syndicated to more markets than the boys and they only reason is because admitedly, "We have markets that put us on because they don't have the money or resources to put anything else in our timeslot."

What losers, I hope Mike chokes on a cheeseburger and dies.

they are leaving?....thank God....my prayers have been answered! Here in San Francisco we have been subjected to these two losers ever since O&A left....I guess the radio execs thought they could fill O&A's shoes....yeah right!
