Ahhh with the way my computer has been behaving latley, I feel that it is officaly time I start saving the pennies up. I am going to save most of the money I make over the summer and buy an apple. Bluecell, steve, or any other apple user, just have a few questions. How long should I wait? I hear that big things are going to be happeaning at apple, I dont want to invest in a 2 grand computer to see something better come seconds later. Also, I was wondering about apple/win networking. I am currently am running wireless via linksys 54g. I understand that the airport extremes run on the g standard, would it be possible to add it to my network? Thanks a lot

First off, yes AirPort will work over your current network. 802.11g is a universal standard.

Wait until after next week. Apple's introducing "Panther" to its developers and the 64-bit PPC 970 will be introduced as well. There are rumors flying around that they're also coming out with some new hardware in a couple of weeks. I guarantee that the performance boosts will be well worth the wait. I'll be at the WWDC, so I'll of course keep you informed.

I like the washington apples myself. The Macintosh apples give me too much gas when I eat them.. Oh you are talking about something else...

Here is a good article for your reading pleasure:

fcuknu, if you buy a laptop get the extended coverage. My PowerBook will be 4 years old this September. I thought the warantee ran out because the hard drive is starting to make some scary noises, but the tech at Tecnosphere looked up the serial number to find a compatible drive, and also found out it's still covered by Apple. It will be fixed for free! No questions or hassels.
The extended coverage is not just for the hardware, it covers telephone support for the computer too. It does not cover what Apple deems as "normal wear" so don't drop it too hard.
Just wait before you buy something new, otherwise you will be sorry.

See I'm too old to learn a new OS. Plus if Jobs keep shutting out people who want to do Mac clones I really doubt he will accept someone trying to Overclock their systems. I like to tinker and use water and air conditioning systems and making the CPU get so hot it can fry an EGG just trying to get me an extra frame-per-second...

Here is a german guy who actually watercooled his MAC. It;s in German but Jpg's are universal... Unless you want to use BABBLEFISH..
