Here's an idea for helping to save O&A.....IGNORE ANYTHING Don & Mike!
I am sure if you go to the Don & Mike Newsgroup (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=alt.fan.don-n-mike)) you will see this post come up eventually.
The reason I am posting about laying off Don & Mike is this. There are people in this newsgroup who like their Don & Mike show and don't like O&A, but they ignore O&A and move on. Then there are others that call themselves "gamp extremists" who monitor ALL of the O&A message boards and sites for any venom spewed at their heroes. When they see this, they are ready to strike and stick it to SU. These are the same people who had 4 feeds shut down last summer in a matter of days.
Now I am the first to admit I do not like the Don & Mike show. But, at this point who cares what is said on the Don & Mike show or for that matter on any show (like Hooknose Howie or Mandouche)? At this point the focus of O&A fans should not be what others are saying, but it should be to help spread the virus and get people who were not listeners the first time around interested and eager in their return. What's the best way to do that? How did Mettalica get big? They got huge thru bootlegging. How can we make O&A bigger? Thru file sharing & feeds. Get people who were not listening to O&A listen to some shows and bits, let them hear what you loved and enjoyed.
Now if we continue to beat a dead horse by going after the Don & Mike show over and over, these people will go after SU and kill it again. The words of few on message boards ultimalty affects uncountable O&A fans who will be left out in the cold as far as where to go to get bits and feeds.
Also, going on Don & Mike sites and posting on their message boards about how we hate don and mike and posting O&A stuff on their sites is not productive as well. It gives all O&A fans a bad name and makes us look like the juvenile idiots they claim we are.
So in conclusion....why even talk about Don & Mike? Let's just focus on getting O&A audio to people who have never heard them before. And please let's be careful on what we do say because what we say affects O&A fans on a large scale. Thank you for your time.
