Sam Roberts from The Opie & Anthony Show headed to the NYSWF on April 5

He’s interviewed Vince McMahon. He’s been fed by Mick Foley. He unveiled the “Save.Us.222” storyline in front of Chris Jericho on The Opie & Anthony Show days before Jericho “saved us”.

Sam Roberts of The Opie & Anthony Show on XM Radio and The Than & Sam Show (www.thanandsam.com) is looking to make an impact on the New York State Wrestling Federation show on Saturday April 5, 2008 in New Rochelle, NY at New Rochelle High School at 7:30 p.m.

He’s not looking to interview billionaire wrestling promoters. He has no interest in being fed by hardcore legends. He’s not trying to save us from anything. We will all find out what “Prime Time” Sam Roberts has in store for the NYSWF on April 5.

Also appearing on April 5 in New Rochelle, NY: TNA Superstars - Team 3D; Boxer vs. Wrestler Match: Larry Barnes vs. Larry Sweeney; Romeo Roselli, Antonio “the Promise” Thomas and many more wrestling superstars.

For further information on the April 5 event visit www.nyswfwrestling.com or www.myspace.com/nyswfwrestling.

Well I also am not living up there right now, so it's still a 45 minute drive. I'll probably go anyway, though. Should be fun.

Sam Roberts from The Opie & Anthony Show to serve as “special guest judge” for NYSWF Pro Wrestling
Sports
Press release from: NYSWF Pro Wrestling
(openPR) - On Saturday, April 5, the world will be in “Prime Time” Sam Roberts’ hands as he will serve as a special guest judge for the Boxer vs. Wrestler match pitting professional wrestler Larry Sweeney against boxer Larry Barnes (44-3-0, 17 Knockout’s)

Sam Roberts of The Opie & Anthony Show on XM Radio and The Than & Sam Show (www.thanandsam.com) will certainly make an impact on the New York State Wrestling Federation event on Saturday April 5, 2008 in New Rochelle, NY at New Rochelle High School at 7:30 p.m.

Sweeney has made it known amongst his contemporaries in the wrestling industry that he expects to slow down Barnes and take him off his feet to his advantage thus turning the match into a one sided wrestling tutorial.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I expect a former boxer to sign the contract,” said Sweeney, who currently performs for Ring of Honor Wrestling. “I am just going to have to show Barnes that he is walking into my ring on April 5. If he had any respect for the wrestling business, he’d buy a ticket and sit in the front row. He’s making a huge mistake stepping into a wrestling ring with me.”

Barnes is content in knocking out Sweeney early on, but is preparing for the match should Sweeney decide to take the contest to the ground.

“If I have to body slam Mr. Sweeney than that’s what I’ll do, but I’m going for a knockout,” said Barnes, who boxed against the likes of Felix Trinidad Jr. during his boxing career.

In addition to that spectacular match, Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) Wrestling Superstars, Team 3D will showcase their tag-team style. Team 3D is comprised of Brother Devon & Brother Ray and were formerly known as the Dudley Boyz when they wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Collectively, the tandem are 20-time former World Tag Team Champions for the WWE, TNA, ECW and other wrestling promotions throughout the word.

Team 3D’s main event match versus Monsta Mack & Havok will serve as a homecoming for Brother Devon, who played varsity football at New Rochelle High School before joining the ranks of professional wrestling.

Also appearing on Saturday, April 5 will be Romeo Roselli, who has competed previously for WWE. Currently, Roselli is recognized as the World Heavyweight Champion in Europe and is eagerly anticipating his return to the NYSWF. He also has roles in two major motion picture film releases, “College Road Trip” and “Baby Mama”, both premiering this spring. Roselli will face his former WWE tag team partner, Antonio Thomas.

Former New Rochelle City Councilman and current President of New Rochelle’s Youth Tackle League, Joe Fosina has been signed to serve as the special guest referee for the ladies match scheduled for April 5.

This wrestling spectacular is being sponsored locally by LA Boxing’s locations in Mamaroneck, NY and Secaucus, NJ.

Ticket information for the NYSWF Professional Wrestling is available at www.nyswfwrestling.com, www.myspace.com/nyswfwrestling or by calling (914) 235-4676. Prices range from $50 to $20 and will be subject to a service charge if purchased online.

Just wanted to bump this, this show is going to be Saturday at New Rochelle High School. The Dudleys will be there, as well Larry Sweeney. Heidenreich will probably have a match, and there may be a bunch of wrestlers that come by just to sell pictures.

Plus, I'm judging the boxer v. wrestler match (involving Sweeney). All the info is on NYSWFwrestling.com

You can get tickets at the door or online, they're $20, come check it out

It was a real fun show, including an appearance by ULTRAMANTIS BLACK~!

I also ran into Sam at a diner after the show. After he got KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT by Larry Barnes. Most ineffective heel turn ever.

That is all.

I didnt neglect Jolly Roger.. I fucking drove with him to the show. LOL! YOU, sir, neglected Black Jack Marciano. And that, sir... is a travesty.

Were you with him when a couple of dopes called out to him from the bleachers, and then went down to see him after the show? Because that was me and my friends.

Yes! I was the guy in the black thermal. I don't know if I was wearing a hat or not. I was the one who yelled back "It's not Jolly Roger, it's Jigsaw!"

Don't feel bad. I don't recognize any of the CZWFans guys either. When I was doing sound for CZW and Chikara.. people would come up to me and start holding conversations with me and I had zero idea who they were. So sorry about that! Next time I'll be mur goodr and say hi.

It was more of a joke than me expecting you to recognize me. I just happen to post WAY too many pictures of myself in the 'post your pics' thread in Off Topic to the point where it's become a gag. I did a radio show with a guy who I had also been on a message board with for a couple years, and I talked to him after a ROH show once and had no idea it was him until he let me know the next day online. And I knew what he looked and sounded like. But I still had no idea who he was, even though he said "Hey, it's Brian".

wow that's fucking classic.

But back to that show... who was the referee during the Daizee Haze/Alexa Thatcher match? He was quite possibly the greatest referee of all time. No counting the 5's on the ropes and in corners... and he just waved his hand by the mat to count pins. I laughed so hard at him, I was drooling like a retard.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha Sam should have come out in a sweater vest and casual pants and chased Crash Holly (RIP) around a ball pit for the hardcore title.

The ref was former New Rochelle city councilman Joe Fosina. From what I could tell, the fix was in between Daizee, the ref and Alexa's manager, who were all apparently together, and Alexa had no idea.

No way that was supposed to be a work. He counted the same for both girls. He was absolutely terrible, but what do you expect? I don't care if he was supposed to be that bad, I'm going to sit back and believe he was really that terrible, and enjoy that referee for the rest of my life as the greatest sight ever to be seen in a wrestling ring.

While it does appear that he was, in fact, awful, the intention certainly seemed that the fix was in at the end. He actually hit the mat a couple times on the final pin, and also counted fast. I'm not saying his inability to move around and get down to make a real count was fake, but the attempted story was that they were all against Alexa.

No, Sam was a celebrity judge for the match between "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeney and former boxer, Larry Barnes.

Was I the only one imagining the the possibility of ROH dueling "Let's Go Larry!" chants for both of them?
