have such bad luck with computers. i just got back from buying a top of the line asus motherboard. the dude at the computer show put it together, i get home and it says "overclocking failed", apparently this new asus board has a feature where it enables quick overclocking up to 30%. it also gave me a jumperfree ide error. looks like i'm going to have to unplug everything and plug it back in.

the guy at the computer show put the motherboard and pieces together. and when he started it up, it started fine, i'm thinking that it might have gotten bumped around on the car ride home

again in english. i've never seen the point in overclocking with the speed of processors these days.

i agree, for some reasons asus has this feature that lets u safely overclock the system apparently.

I overclock all my computer systems. I'm running my 2.4 P4 CPU at 3.3.. A 3 gig P4 CPU cost almost 500 while the 2.4 can be had for 180. I see a $320 savings.

Intel shiped all "C" CPU's to be 3 gig and up out of the box with no increase in voltage.

I think if you really don't know what you're doing specifically(like I would be) it's a little too risky and you're messing with a lot of money..

I totally agree with you. I just hope the Guy at the computer show wasn't being the typical SHITHEAD you will find at the computer show selling CPU pre-overclocked for a higher price.

i've never bought anything at a computer show besides maybe some software. i buy my parts online. i've put together my computer and whatnot, part by part from scratch but i would never mess with any of the really technical shit..

I sometimes buy hardware from the computer show. I got a 21inch Sony monitor for 180 bucks. It has some scratches but the picture is almost prefect.

I'll buy a CPU sometimes when I can see the serial # of the Chips so I get what I want.

I don't mine tinkering because I know the risks invovled.
