Dwayne Johnson drops "The Rock" moniker and the people go ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The Rock was a presenter at the 80th Academy Awards tonight. He was introduced by Jon Stewart as a "former wrestler turned actor" and came out as "Dwayne Johnson" with no reference to "The Rock." He came out to absolutely ZERO reaction. I've heard X-Pac get more of a response. The crowd was completely dead and didn't respond to anything he had to say.

Keep trying to bury what made you popular, Rocky. Try acting like "Rock" is just a name and you don't need it to get noticed in Hollywood as anything but a typecast action star. Before long, you'll be begging Vince for cameo work like you just got an orange tan and need a payday to bail your son's ass out after a car wreck.

No he won't, Johnson already has plenty of successful movies, and he is quite a commodity in Hollywood right now. He might doa gig here and there with the WWE in the future, but by no means is he going to begging Vince to come back.

Although I do agree, it was a pretty stupid move dropping "The Rock", since a lot of people recognize him from that name.

Former WWE champion John Cena recently lashed out at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a recent interview with The Sun in the United Kingdom. Cena was quoted as saying the following:

"He is a genuinely nice guy and a fantastic human being. What I kind of get peeved about, and this is my Achilles heel, is that I've wanted to do this my whole life. Rock falls into that category. At one point he loved wrestling and wanted to do this all his life. So explain to me why he can't come back. Simply put it's because he wants to be an actor and there's nothing wrong with that. He's very good and very successful. Associating with sports entertainment doesn't do much for his acting career. I get it. Just don't f*** me around and tell me that you love this. That's the only thing that gets me really p***ed off. Our fan base have so much admiration for him, he's got to respect that. He doesn't give anything back."

The Rock as the name and the eyebrow thing and a movie (walking tall was it?) are all i know of him.

i dont watch wwf though, so i definately dont know him as anything other than the Rock.

Hey, if he has true acting talent (i havent seen any of his movie(s)) then dropping the name shouldnt hurt him... but if thats all he's know as, then he may not have a market.
