Of course, all manufactures do this, why should Apple be any different.

This is a ridiculous argument that's really getting old. Everytime Apple brings out something new, all of the PC nutcases come out, all of which try to justify their existence by bashing Apple. Just watch the WWDC Keynote (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/wwdc03/) and marvel at Apple's glory in the real-world app bake-offs. The G5 annihilated the top of the line dual Xeon workstation in all of the test, including Photoshop, Luxology 3D, Mathematica and Logic.

The benchmark tests were valid and in actuallity, a lot of it was to try to skew the results against the G5. Check out this Slashdot article (http://apple.slashdot.org/apple/03/06/24/2154256.shtml?tid=126&tid=181) where Apple defends its claim of victory. VeriTest (http://www.veritest.com) corroborates all of it.
