Lizzie Grubman, the publicist who backed her SUV into a crowd of clubgoers in the Hamptons two years ago, says she has a new philosophy on the media: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Grubman plans to begin a new job as a gossip and entertainment reporter for the radio station WNEW-FM, "102.7 Blink." "Now, I decided that if I can't ... beat the media, I'm joining the media," Grubman told sister station 1010 WINS.

Her first report will be on goings-on in the Hamptons over the Fourth of July weekend.

Grubman, whose company promoted singer Britney Spears, rapper Jay-Z and the Backstreet Boys, served 37 days in jail after pleading guilty to assault and leaving the scene of the July 7, 2001 crash outside the Conscience Point Inn injured at least 16 people.

"So many people were involved, and you know, it breaks my heart every single day," Grubman said. "I still think about it, and it'll never go away."

Messages left for Grubman's lawyer, Stephen Scaring, and Infinity Broadcasting, which operates WNEW, were not immediately returned.

Blink is turning into a genuine train wreck of a station. But maybe that's what they want: people will tune in just to gawk at the carnage.

It breaks her heart that she almost killed a bunch of people and ran away.. or it breaks her heart that she got caught leaving the scene of an accident and got thrown in jail for it. :)

OH MY GOD:eek: I'm laughing my ass off at this. What is wrong with that station? It's not hard to get ratings, over here in mass almost all the stations (especially the ones with big names like the famous wnew), get ratings......why.....because they play generic music that all the other stations play.

Tip #1= play five in a row of popular music, over and over again
Tip #2= get a decent d.j. who know's the area and the music and don't let him or her talk too much
Tip#3= Give away concert tickets, promote clubs and bars and GO THERE, ie "random station will be broadcasting live from random bar, come down and join us, we'll be giving away tickets to local band or popular famous band"
