I sold the pain way better, so blow it out your ass, cupcake.
I had an extra 5 just sitting in my pocket, so I got one of his 8x10s. He also offered to stab me with his Sharpie for 2 bucks. Then moments later he raised it to 5 bucks and claimed it was inflation's fault. I actually like Kobra Kai. He has a decently solid showing on Saturday and I liked the angle where he didn't like his partners.

Theres a pretty funny pic on Mantis' myspace of Crossbones giving him a tattoo. Both of them in masks.
Mantis was always awesome enough to have his mask EVERYWHERE we went. The one time he didn't was when we were in Montreal, and we saw dancing Spiderman (supposedly he's pretty famous up there) in the middle of the street. We had to go back the next day with the hoods to take a pic with the guy... When the guy was done for the afternoon, he took off his Spiderman mask, and all you can hear throughout the city was Mantis screaming "NO!! THE GIMMICK! KAYFABE MAN! KAYFABE! THATS YOUR GIMMICK! I DONT WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE!"

I had Mantis cut some liners and do a bit for my show a couple months back, and the entire time I was just talking to him on the phone to set it up, he kept the voice up.
Staying in 'fabe is fun. At the Conclave last Saturday, I stayed in kayfabe the whole time. And I'm just a fan.

I never watched any CHIKARA before but last night at the ROH show I picked up the $10 Best of DVD they had and put it in. I went to the Kingston/Sweeney match and was shocked that there was like noone there and it looked to be held in the basement of a town hall type building. I realize that that was a few years ago at this point but I would hope that the crowds are a little bigger now and the same goes for the venues.

They still run the small venues, but they also have been running the ECW arena on a regular basis for the past few years as well. The promotion is doing just fine, so don't you worry. I've not been to one of the small shows yet, but everybody I know who has been to one says they love the atmosphere.
Go to Smart Mark Video and get the 20 dollar 3 disc Best of 2007 CHIKARA DVD.

The atmosphere at that Kingston/Sweeney match seemed deader than Bam Bam Bigelow (get it? he's actually dead, lol).
But I will pick up the DVD and give it a shot. You guys were right on ROH so I'll believe for now.

Hey ICON, sounds like you've worked before or continue to. Any place we might have seen you in the ring before?
I was training with Chikara for a while, on and off. But for the most part, I did the production end of things. I hosted the Chikara website on my domain (hpwf.org) for a while. I was doing sound for a long time for both Chikara and CZW. And I was taking pictures for Chikara. In fact, a lot of my photos were used on the DVDs released by SMV. I usually post on CZWFans as "SonicThePhotographer." You can probably see me on all the 2005/2006 and some 2007 shows roaming around the ring taking pictures. And I did a lot of the theme music mixes that were used on the shows.
And I pretty much quit doing stuff in wrestling after the CZW show where Kingston was shoot-fired by Zandig, and me, Sabato, and Jig all left the company. I'm probably going to go back to training after I graduate from college next month, but we'll see where the road takes me. I was absolutely miserable with wrestling in general before that, but I really fucking miss the guys and learning from Quack/Hero/Claudio/etc.

The Massachusetts one has one of the most unique matches that Chikara has, the Torneo Cibernetico. Pretty much, the way the match works, there is a batting order. Each team has 9 competitors. Only two men in the ring at the same time (much like a tag match). If someone chooses to tag out, they can ONLY tag the man/woman/farm animal on their team that is NEXT in the batting order. If someone is pinned, they are eliminated, and the spot in the lineup is removed. If one team is eliminated, then the remaining members of the "winning" team must then fight until there is one winner. The last man standing is the Torneo de Cibernetico Cempeone.
If you want to watch a truly unique match, and have a damned good time with it, then the Mass show is for you. The match runs a bit long, historically, but I swear, I didn't even notice the time pass when watching the match live in the past.
Not to mention, Robbie Ellis is tagging with Sweeney against FIST. If you've never seen Robbie Ellis before, you're in for a true treat.
Based on those two things alone, it's worth the price of admission. But Kingston/Claudio in CT does seem like it will be a pretty phenomenal match. They work really well together if you caught the CZW stuff and King's fued with KoW.

Thanks for your input. I have no real "indy" knowledge as I didn't even follow ROH until people on this board kept raving about it so I don't really know any of the Kingston/Claudio backstory.
That batting order match sounds pretty interesting.
If I don't have to appease the psycho chick I'll probably make the trip to the Saturday show and if I like it I might do the full double shot.
Thanks again.

Sweet deal man, hope you enjoy. I will mention that Chikara is pretty family friendly, so don't expect to see a whole lot of blood or cursing. The characters might seem off the wall, and if you don't know that going into seeing the show, it's quite off-putting to be blindsided by that. But take it for what it is, and have a great time out there, as both shows should be really good. If it wasn't for me going out to watch Couture/Lesnar, I might've been convinced to take the drive up to see the shows.
