OK, so I really have not watched wrestling since my son out grew it. And there was a gap in the 88 to 94 years. But this still gives me goose bumps.

I might have to go for the match between Eddie Guerro and JBL, where Guerro just started bleeding profusely, but still finished the match.

This moment turned the sport extreme though. When he went to the top of that cage, there was no gong back to grappling.

can anyone confirm that it was ECW fans that invented the "holy shit" chant?

Better than Jake The Snake yanking Elizabeth up by her hair and slapping her?

"THIS IS DISGRACEFUL , DESPICABLE!"
"HE SHOULD BE SUSPENDED FOR LIFE!"

Best WWF Heel ever.

I'd think most people would agree the "Greatest Moment in WWF History" was Hulk slamming Andre, Wrestlemania III.
Big Time.

That's kind of a very silly thing to say.

really? even though the cage thing seems tame now, it was unheard of then, i would think it's agreed on by most fans of the 'sport' as that moment - even if the extreme becoming commonplace didnt happen until ecw.

going on top of that cage, particularly with a huge audience that night - heightened the audience's expectations of what these guys would do to entertain them. when i was real young, i was freaked out by seeing pics of dusty rhodes all bloodied up in the magazines, but that never made the major telecasts for some time.

you might even be able to say something similar about McGwire and Sosa's homer race that one year.

forgive the "raising the bar" expression, but it's pretty appropriate here.

as far as wrestling goes, Japan pros had been doing sick stuff for some time, but ECW put it in front of the rabid fans here in the northeast.

The part where "there was no going back to grappling" is silly.
