...paying for the service. Then hearing something really outrageous that they couldnt do on regular radio which is funny and profanity laced and/or totally not allowed on regular FM.

THEN the next day, they spend 30-40 mins of show talking about what happened on the XM show. And re-cutting and editing the audio so all the regular FM people can hear it.

Seriously, it rules. It's great to have XM and feel exclusive and as hard core fans we get to hear shit nobody else does, and then.......everyone else gets to hear it anyway. And we get to hear it once, twice, sometimes 3 times. It's a good way to have to do less show.

Im so fucking sick of this, it happens like once a week. Keep the XM shit on XM and fuck the regular FM listeners. Enough show re-caps. Get to work, fagets. Get off your ass.

i pay for xm solely to support the boys.. i download the show daily and only use xm online for SNV but i still pay because id feel bad downloading the show and not paying.

that said, i enjoy hearing the cut up xm replays on the fm side because i get to put myself in the shoes of the FM listener and i find it cool that they get to hear this stuff.. its like playing clips of the show to friends that dont listen.

it also makes me like xm more because i can compare the censored clips with what i heard earlier on xm.

but maybe that's just me.

To paraphrase Lil' Jim Norton, "XM kicks ass because of the (relative) freedom it affords". 'Relative' being my opinion, not something Jim said himself.

This doesn't mean there aren't issues: XM's suspension of the show (because Opie called XM's punishment for the comments about Condoleza Rice to be 'stupid') to him abruptly ending today's show (3/10/08) because... well basically because he's an insecure ass (yes, gregory, you are)... the show nevertheless rocks.

No matter how hard O&A try, the FM side is an abortion. Although they're trying to work within the FCC's bullshit edicts (and making millions off of it), they're watering down themselves to the point of un-listenability. It makes me sad.

Most of the time O&A don't replay what is talked about on the XM side. Only with the very major things do they replay segments on the following day(with huge edits) which cuts down on the appreciation of the moment for those not listening in the moment.
Also, being a day behind on the O&A show while everyone is up-to-date is frustrating.

No, see, you have the freedom to not pay. If you're not satisfied with the product then you should stop listening. I mean christ, did you ever hear an NEW show? When they'd do a big hilarious 30 minute bit, they'd replay it in its entirety the next day. It's not some new concept to replay an important show moment and it's a thousand times more reasonable when the moment they're replaying was XM only that could possibly inspire folks only listening on terrestrial to subscribe.

If I'm watching TV and nothing is on, I'll turn it off, not keep watching and bitch about how I'm not getting my money's worth.

I'll Chime in...
Just as the XM side is brilliant with all that can be said and done without censoring I think the FM side has really come into its own now as well. I love the jokes that leave out the offensive or cringey punch lines.
One FM example is for Jimmy or Ant to call Hillary or Barack a C-Word or N-Word. Whatever the case may be just calling someone a name isn’t all that funny by itself. But when they take a joke all the way to the C or N words and then stop short, in my mind (maybe my mind alone) it does 2 things for us the listeners…
1. It allows for the listener to fill in the blanks with whatever is bouncing around in their own (sometimes fake outrage) minds.
2. It puts the ownership of the implied politically incorrectness of the joke on the listener and subsequently off of O&A.

To me that is brilliant in its own right!
So in summation, I really like the FM side a lot, but in a different way than the XM side.
I guess I am happy overall with the way the show is.
Now if O&A could ever write that book that Op keeps talking about.

Aren't we past that at this point? The censorship on FM isn't bringing in huge numbers to XM. I think more people are likely to change the channel instead of paying 12.95 a month for a service they already deem unnecessary. I mean, if they thought XM was so great they'd have it already.

The frustration that I have is based on the fact that I know they can do better.

With that said, you cannot honestly tell me the XM portion is any good in the past few months.

Everday Opie sits there and hums and plays audio clips from news broadcasts (we get it, the news is disingenuous) while Ant takes a fuckin hour to drink his daily 930 am smoothie, and on top of that sits there and devotes 51% of his attention to paltalk and video screens. Lets not forget Jimmy and his "tired" voice while he reads magazines and scrolls his Blackberry. The only thing that excites him is cutting out on the show early. How many great XM breaks were ruined because Jimmy had to go piss? The only professional who is there focused on the show at least half the time is Opie.

The FM show is what it is. There will only be more content restrictions as time passes. It's funny to hear complaints about XM crossover replays on FM because 9 out of ten days NOTHING happens at XM ever worth replaying.

I was so aggravated with the 3/11/08 XM show I really started reconsidering my XM sub. I think they are as big as they are ever gonna get. The bbboys and their staff are clearly lazy and don't want to put too much extra time into the show working on bits. They said themselves that they can't do anything because everything is "hacky".

OPIE: Do yourself and the listeners a favor, get rid of paltalk and the video monitors in the studio. Try and convince A&J to stop eating "on the air". Fire most of your staff (not Sam) and get some motivated lackies who have some drive and fresh ideas, and please stop talking about how rich you are and how you guys don't care about the show. Stupid old lady Hoo Hoo had a formula that worked on FM. As much of a windbag as he is, he did do FM radio correctly, no one can argue that.

I'm gonna go shit in my hat now. So save it.

My point is no amount of bitching, complaining, emailing, posting on a website will change what they do. If you no longer like the show for what it is then cancel your XM and download old bits that you enjoy. Then you can sit back and be proud that you're no longer being ripped off for sub par radio like us brain washed fans.

As must as I disagree with most of Dr. Mengele's post, I do think Paltalk has been detrimental to the show. It doesn't stop me from listening or even considering to, but seeing it seep into R&F as well is just depressing. Who really cares what chick is showing their ass?

His examples might not have been the best but I agree with his point. The show has become very lazy, they reply on others to do all the "heavy lifting" now.

That being said yesterdays (3/12) XM show was great.*

I agree wholeheartedly with the PalTalk taking away from the show. They always have to waste time getting the right camera angle for the dumb ass PalTalkers to get the best viewpoint of a certain bit. It's not worth the filler to waste 10 minutes setting up a shot for 1% of your audience to be "in the know". Sam is filming it anyways...who gives a fuck that we have to wait for the right camera angle to capture it live? And this post of coming from someone who pays for PalTalk. It does nothing but stops the show dead.

I rarely listen to them since they are on the FM side during my commute.

I dont mind at all when they eat on the air. I think it's funny and refreshingly candid, honestly.

Hey, fuck, if they gotta eat on air in order to hear more show? Fine with me.

My only complaint is that good shit on the XM side, if they were smart, would just keep teasing it and say "See what you're missing on XM?" Theyd lure more subscribers, theyd get people to linger longer.

If you just take what's on XM and then bring it back to the regular radio side where they can hear it for free, who the fuck is gonna want to pay for satellite. Except us dummies/hard core fans that expected them to stay off shitty terrestrial and have been paying since day 1/2004.

I know it's been comiserated about a lot, but I hear it all the time (and seemingly much more lately) and it bugs the shit out of me. I cant NOT say anything about it.

Mr. Depew does have a point. I wouldn't mind them replaying bits at all if they made it clear that this is what people were missing on XM and that for more brilliant uncensored content they should sign up. But it seems the hardest of their efforts has been primarily designated towards boosting their FM ratings.

The bitching about recapping makes sense, and yet it doesn't. Yes it makes sense from a hardcore fan and we have to hear "go to break.com we're going to make this viral" that they do once in a while. Or when they go on Krock and say "boy you missed a great show yesterday" because we all A) listened to it or B) heard about it and C) will probably go to audible.com (plugzors) and download it and catch up. I understand it due to the fact that I try and listen to the full show everyday and the stuff to nitpick stands out more then the good stuff sometimes.

But not everybody posts on a messageboard and in fact most people don't listen to a full five hour broadcast (yes I say five and if you throw in the breaks and the bonus time I just don't give a flying shit). So I understand them recapping the gold that they did for the regular people to catch up cause I'm sure not everyone heard it. Recapping makes sense and it's nothing to dwell on when they have a lot of show to do in general.

Oh yeah and in NEW, they would take the first hour to recap what they did the day before, play the audio, discuss it, and continue playing it until they took a long break. I didn't mind due to the same reason as I stated above.

There's three types of people when it comes to NEW.
1) Old fans who bitch that the show isn't what it used to be.
2) New fans who bitch that the show isn't what it used to be, but they didn't listen in the old days, listened to some 20 minute bit and think every show was like that, and just want to be part of group 1 to appear cool and "in the clique".
3) Fans who either listened to NEW or didn't and just appreciate O&A for what it is, A FUNNY RADIO SHOW.

I am a hardcore fan, I listen to the whole show every day but I do have some comments.

The show as of late has been kind of bland. I don't hold this against the boys at all because I know how hard it is to do 5 hours of radio a day....it's something I could NEVER do. I agree with this argument though, I pay for XM just for the boys...and FM gets the best of with beeps. The whole turn the dial argument is stupid, I pay the 15 or so a month just for them and always will as long as they are on.

But playing the same bit from XM on FM kind of annoys me. I know how it goes, they are playing it because its gold and the majority of the audience are the ones that only hear a half hour a day, but I also feel that the boys are talented enough that playing it one time during the week on the FM side is fine...playing baby diaper mustash 3-4 times this week just equates to them making a commercial for themselves and XM...which is something XM should do and should NOT be their responsibility to expose them.

Is it their fault they need to show how much better XM is...maybe not...but don't take it out on the audience, take it out on E-Lo and make him do his job and get more exposure.

Also I guess it's just a bit but opie saying he just decided to do radio again over and over is kind of alienating to the hardcores. Sure you don't have to cater to us because we make up a small percentage, but we are the ones who helped build you all back up when you came back and will fight for you till the end. Don't brag about the fact that you have been calling it in for two years...maybe it is just a bit but there has been some sub par radio as of late. I'm not saying its bad at ALL its better then everything else out there but it's more of a feeling that the boys have so much more potential.

I have and will continue to pay the money to support the boys I think they are the most talented jocks out there. But I think constructive criticism is the best way to get better. Not to be a dick but so many are you are zombies...as soon as anyone says anything against them no matter how big of a fan they are you say "If you don't like it don't listen.

Thats bullshit, were customers...if there is something that irks us its not the end of the world to voice an opinion. Get off your high horse and stop sucking the boys cocks. Being loyal no matter what will get you no where. The show is amazing but there is always room for improvement, let people say what the fuck they want without telling them to turn the dial.

Also, I agree Paltalk, although good in theory does take away from the show.

Many people listen to replays or audible...or actually have jobs and cant sit in front of a computer during 5 hours of the show. Its such a small percentage of the audience that it takes away from the show.

They bitch and moan how they need to cater to the normal listeners when it benefits them by replaying bits so they can hear it...but when its time for paltalk for the hardcore listeners...then its ok to cater to them. Whatever situation it is, they will say its that audience they want to cater to.

Whatever do Paltalk all you want, but don't talk about it so much. 99% of us don't have the time to go on it. Instead of waiting to get the angle for it, take better videos for the website thats all you need.

The fact that opie calls ant out on zoning out and being on paltalk is an issue.

It just annoys me that the pests and everyone work very hard for them when called on...but its a constant joke 'Oh maybe we should do a radio show for once' or 'I just decided to do radio again'.

Yea its a bit and a joke...but there is obviously some truth in what they say or it wouldn't be a funny bit.

Before I changed jobs (schedules) I felt the same way. But since I'm in a subway and listening to the majority of the show from the previous day on my Inno , I don't get nearly as pissed anymore. I actually took their advice and pretty much change the channel now. When I hear them amping some bit up that I heard the day before, I immediately fast forward three to five minutes ahead and bypass that bullshit. I still think its a shitty thing to do to all you guys who don't own an Inno and listen live though.

I really wish for one day they'd fucking bounce on the FM broadcast at like 830 or something. Or come back from break 30 minutes later like they do every now and then when they leave for the walk over. Besides hearing about Paltalk , the only thing that pisses me off more is when the XM show starts up and I hear that they were late because of a goddamn meeting at CBS. Are you kidding me? How about E-Lo calls into the CBS side and just starts going over behind the scenes stuff while they're supposed to be broadcasting on FM. I generally like the show , but I couldn't see a hardcore fan enjoying it as much live than before the FM deal.
