>>Fox Refuses To Pay FCC Indecency Fine

(Undated) -- Fox Broadcasting is refusing to pay a 91-thousand-dollar indecency fine imposed by the FCC. The "Washington Post" reports the fine stems from a 2003 episode of the canceled reality show "Married by America" which had digitally obscured nudity and whipped-cream-covered strippers. The FCC proposed fining all 169 Fox-owned and affiliated stations a total of one-point-two-million dollars. However, last month it said it would only fine the 13 Fox stations located in cities that generated viewer complaints and reduced the fine to 91-thousand dollars.

So let me get this straight, it's now indecent to not show nudity?"whaa"

Good, fuck the FCC. They are fucking ridiculous and maybe some of this shit will be cleared up this summer by SCOTUS.

They have no standard guidelines. If they are only fining them for the regions in which complaints came in...doesn't that kinda undermine their whole purpose? They are letting a few random whiners dictate indecency...not the organization. Yet its ok to be seen where noone complained. How bout just everyone shut the fuck up and close your eyes when ya don't like something. Now thoughts of what COULD be behind the pixelation is wrong? sheesh

There's also the fact that the complaints came in years after the show was actually aired.

Also, the statute of limitations was about to run out this show (the FCC has a 5 year limit for these "complaints"), so those three or four do-gooders had to get their letterhead copied and sent pretty quickly.

It's probably some group like the American Family Association or Jerkoffs for Jesus that warned their constituency about the time running out to complain.

The Pests should attack a religious show someday posing as Christians and complaining about faith healers taking money from fat toothless bitches.

Actually, this is the only thing the FCC has done right here. Standards are supposed to be different from region to region. The community is supposed to decide what is okay for local airwaves, not the feds.

Doesn't that make you gay?

That argument only applies in a vacuum where the FCC hasn't created the need for such desire.

Agreed, just pointing out how it's supposed to work.

That's what the Channel button is for.

Damn, I really backed into that one. :icon_redf

That's our opinion, but not the law. Local airwaves are supposed to be the property of the local community. But ratings should be used. If you have an audience, your content is acceptable.
