A registered sex offender who's still on probation, is running for mayor in Wilmer, a city outside Dallas.
Forty-two-year-old James Brian Sliter was arrested four years ago for setting up a meeting on the Internet for sex.
He thought he was talking to a 15-year-old girl, but it was an undercover police officer instead.
Sliter wants a chance to prove he's an asset to his community.
"People make mistakes," he says. "And they need to look past those mistakes and forgive and move on."
Sliter is eligible to run because he received deferred adjudication and was not convicted.
The election is May 10.
