When the crowd is booing you because they still think it's the cool thing to do, you have to reel them back in as best as possible. That's why Cena is better than the haters give him credit for. He's a great ambassador to the business, doesn't hide the fact that a lot of fans shit on him, and can still get them back in the palm of his hand (like he did at Royal Rumble & tonight).

I think there is some real shit between Cena and Johnson, after Cena made some remarks about The Rock being an ungrateful cunt (which I agree with), of course I'm paraphrasing. I think those comments weren't taken to pleasently by The Ro... Dwayne, and that was a retaliation shot by him. I think Cena responded with a forced cheesy smile, more than anything else. There was no other way for him to react, I'm sure Cena might have responded differently if he had a microphone in front of him..
Last but not least, whoever finds the HOF ceremony on the internet post the links up, I will be on the lookout for them myself, as I missed some of it.

The HBK one is worth it. You can get that for $12.99 at Best Buy as part of their Ultimate Fan Edition. All three of them are on sale for $12.99. I picked up Mysterio two weekends ago and Cena today. I already had the HBK DVD on its own and didn't need the other stuff at all.

The music change, the lack of rapping (which is what jumpstarted his popularity), "Super Cena" wins over everybody, and always main eventing (particularly WrestleMania). I can see why he annoys so many.
But he's fantastic on the mic (off the cuff) and puts on solid matches with everyone from greatness like HBK/Angle to shit like Lashley/Khali. And for people that question his moveset and make fun of things like the "5 knuckle shuffle", it's no more ridiculous than the "People's Elbow" and Cena would never dare finish a match with it!

He can't really control how he's booked. The one event that always comes to my mind is the main event on Raw where he was in a submission match and the storyline they kept going with was pretty much that Cena didn't know a submission move. He was the champion and he didn't even know a submission move? What the fuck? Of course, he won with his version of the STF. But still. It just made him look very one-dimensional.
The only time that I wished Cena didn't go over was at last year's Mania. Other than that, he deserved it at the time.

Okay, back at the hotel and wow what a night. Yes, I admit it, I cried many times during Flair's 90+ minute speech. The DVD of Mania will be worth whatever the purchase price is because of the ceremony tonight alone. Think of the Wrestlemania itself as a bonus on the DVD.
I was in the nosebleeds as was said by those I was communicating with. I took a few shitty pictures, and will post them in the Wrestlemania thread itself after I upload them. I alos shot some video, mainly just to get the audio, of Flair's ovation when he first came out. The quality is going to suck, I haven't watched it yet myself, but I can tell you that it will stink. I only did it to get the audio live from the arena. I was at MSG back in 2002 when HHH came back from his first quad injury, and that ovation had NOTHING on the ovation I heard tonight from the Amway Arena crowd for Flair.

Some other reports from the HOF I read...
Big Show started crying because Flair before his speech called out a lot of the current roster to say praiseworthy things. He said that he worked with Andre, and Big Show is the best big man he's ever worked with, and ever seen.
HHH was getting booed for hurrying Ric along... and kept doing the "hey it's not my call" thing to the crowd. You could apparently tell he didn't want to do that either.
David Flair got fat.... or just looks like a normal human now. Can't tell.

The Rock was simply amazing last night. He god damn knows how to work a crowd.
I've always have had a great liking Ric Flair and I've always been aware of what he has done for this business and how big of a legend he really is. Ric Flair transcends over generations of people, I'm in high school and my father is in his 50ies and we can have conversations about Ric Flairs greatest matches and all of the other things that he has done. I mostly dominate those conversations because i know more. <<No one cares>> haha. He has a different perspective then me because it was different back then. But tonight when he retires it will truly be a moment that i will never forget. My dad remembers Ali vs. Joe Frasier, Jack Nickolaus winner the 18 majors and other moments that he remembers from when he was a kid. And i look at Ric Flair retiring as one of those moments that will always be with me. <<<wow am i being a mushy shit dick>>>

The one in particular that bugged me was the random guy screaming "HOGAN!" during Mike Graham's speech. Say what you want about the guy, but he delivered a really good speech. And if you don't see how cool that NWA photo he showed was... then I don't know what to say. Stop being a wrestling fan.
I was juggling watching it on wwe.com and listening to Than & Sam. I knew I would have to get the DVD anyway to hear the entire Flair speech so I leaned towards Than & Sam when Graham and Solie were being inducted.
The lack of decorum among wrestling fans shouldn't be surprising. You would think they would follow the lead and show some respect to the guys being honored but that would be too easy. Sometimes its downright embarrassing to have to associate with some of these cretins. At the second night of the ROH doubleshot I had to sit through another take of Rourke giving his dramatic speech because some fans decided to chant "What!" throughout. Give me a break. Its not about you, dummies.
Anyway, on the wwe.com Hall of Fame gallery there is a picture of Victoria sitting next to MVP at around pic 61 or so. Not the best shot but enough to further confirm that I'd eat her asshole.

<<NO ONE CARES, NO ONE CARES>>.
Regardless of what you've watched or read, you had to live through it to fully appreciate the greatness of Flair. The WWE has done a good job with the DVDs and video packages but to experience that as it was going on was something extraordinary. I'm from the northeast and because of that I was raised more so on WWF but I would watch the NWA (and other federations) as much as possible on TBS and later TNT (I think sunday's Main Event was on that network or at least started there anyway). Back in those days you really didn't have any means of rapid information so you just had to watch the programs or read the magazines such as PWI, The Wrestler, etc. Let me tell you something, I HATED Ric Flair. I loathed him. Hated him more so than his heel counterparts in the WWF. There was just something about him and the way that he conducted himself in the interviews that made you really hope that he was destroyed. That ability to make you hate and care (lets not confuse this with X-Pac heat) was the driving force to me of what Ric Flair should be remembered for.
To top it off, the guy could flat out go. Some matches of that era that I'm most fond of are the battles with Steamboat, his 45-minute draw against Sting at the first Clash, an unheralded match with the real Scott Steiner, and the match where he lost to Kerry via the backslide of doom (not really from that era but they showed it enough on ESPN to consider it a part of it).
When Bobby Heenan held up the big gold belt on WWF programming it was one of the biggest mark out moments of my childhood. I remember calling my friend and both of us going crazy at what we saw. Once again, this was before the internet and a year or so before Meltzer's weekly column in "The National". We had no idea of what was going on. Sure, the execution of some of Flair's WWF tenure left a bit to be desired but he did manage to bring some really quality matches to the WWF in a time where some of that was lacking.
I don't know what I would consider the end of Flair to be. Most likely, it would be sometime in the Nitro era or maybe even before it. It was to be expected, he was bogged down by Bischoff, by age, by being overshadowed. While he has had some memorable matches in the past few years it was never the same and you know what, that's ok. Flair was great enough that he deserved to end it how he wanted or least go on as long as he could. Its not up for internet douches like me to decide. He gave me enough memories and owes me absolutely nothing.
I will always remember that Flair circa '88/'89 as one of the greatest wrestlers I've ever seen. Every time I create my "Steamer" character in Smackdown vs. Raw he is always based on that, with a more modern feel thrown in. Not based on guys like Hogan, Warrior, Davey Boy, Sting, or any of my other favorite wrestlers growing up, but based on the guy that I hated more than anyone. That is just how great he was.

Mae Young was hillarious. Kelly Kelly was trying to hold her arm and walk her out, but she wouldn't let her. That cracked me up. I just really wish Moolah could've inducted her. There's just something about her that cracks me up.
The Rock was great too. I just hope one day he could come back and wrestle Austin one last time. I think next year they should have him host the Hall of Fame ceremony, if he can. That'd be nice.

I don't want another Rock vs. Stone Cold especially at this point in their careers.
The Torch was hinting last night at a possible Rock/Cena match at next year's Mania. As much as people despise Cena that one could be HUGE if Cena's movie doesn't bomb as much as "The Marine", or "Doom" for that matter.

Yea i was thinking last night has Cena and the Rock ever faced off and they havent.
I would like to see Rock Vs. Cena. It would be like Rock vs. Hogan, at what ever Wrestlemania that was i dont remember. Also JR commented on how SCSA said that he might have one more match in him and said why not do it at WM25. Its a monumental event because its 25 years. Put The Rock and Stone Cold in the hall of fame next year or something. Have the Rock vs. Cena and then have Stone Cold as the Ref or something to that extent.
I dont mind Cena i have a lot of respect for him and all that he has done for the company. I just dont his gimmick at all.

QFT. My memories of Flair will always be of him standing in front of that NWA sign and doing the best mic work ever. That he is involved in two of my picks for greatest matches ever, against Kerry Von Erich and Barry Windham. Even though I too grew up in the Northeast, I was a bigger fan of the NWA than the WWE. For some reason, the NWA seemed more authentic and had a quality product and Flair was a big part of that. I just watched his HOF speech on YouTube. Even though I had been calling for Flair to retire in recent years. Even though I still think its time for him to go, I'm glad that he didn't so I could see that speech.
Also the idiots in the crowd(not counting CM Mark) is one of the reasons why I rarely watch the HOF ceremony. I did see part of the Rock's opening speech though. I liked his comment on Jericho still boasting about defeating him and Austin in the same night. The shot he took at Cena and the Marine I hope is the opening shot at a upcoming fued, even if it is just one match.

That's my only regret. I went through my second hiatus from watching wrestling and missed alot of the Evolution stuff. I did see the night when they formed though.

When I was a kid, my whole world stopped the moment either Ric Flair or the Road Warriors were on TV. I grew up in NY, which was far from being a big market the NWA, but I checked the TV guide every week to see when and where they would broadcast a show and bought every wrestling magazine I could to follow their careers.

WWE also has the 3 disc set and the Four Horsemen DVD. There's also one of the 1989 Flair/Steamboat matches on the first Triple H DVD.

My first real wrestling on TV moment was when Hogan came back to the WWF and helped out Backlund against the Samoans. Then a month or so later he was beating the Sheik at MSG and I was hooked.
The NWA didn't really have that guy that I could rally behind in those days. I was never a big fan of Dusty or Magnum TA for that matter. I still watched it and bought the figures but WWF was still my favorite. However, once Flair got credible opponents (hell, even Ronnie Garvin) I couldn't help but get into it. Couple that with their tag team scene and they had some good shit going on in the late 80s.

I agree. I liked Stone Cold more than The Rock too, but both were extraordinary talents who hit at the same time making for one hell of an era.

That's true. However, just being there when it was all going down and getting caught up in it all made it even better.

Per imdb:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0419946/business
Budget
$20,000,000 (estimated)
Gross
$18,843,314 (USA) (21 January 2007)
I bet there's alot of actors/actresses that wish they could bomb that badly. I can't find how much it made overseas...but I think the movie ended up making money after all was said and done.
Rock/Cena at WM25 would be INSANE. 70,000-80,000 people in Houston loving The Rock as much as they hate Cena? No way could WWE cover up that audio to make it sound like Cena was the one being cheered.
