I got a buddy who loves O&A but has little R&F experience. He has enough Audible.com credit to pick up three episodes. I told him to get the recent hypnotism show, but need help with two more that just kick ass.

Any suggestions?

if he likes O&A you should have him get an AFRO show...to kinda ease him into it (hot, i know)

I think he wants XM shows...was there any afro that you can remember the date?

Absolutely

It's a tough choice.
There are really good shows, but sometimes the really good show doesn't really reflect the essence of the show, you know?

Like my one friend happened to hear the like 2 hour replay of them talking about how many 5 year olds they could beat up, along with a replay of how to beat up certain zoo animals. So he thinks that's all they do.

I would almost suggest just picking 3 random shows.

How about the latest drinking show? The one where Angry Fez came out.

And then, there was a day before a big event where Ant and Dave went drinking for lunch then came back to the show. Very funny episode.

I would almost suggest just picking 3 random shows.Much easier than finding dates of shows and what happened.

But wouldn't it be great if he picked 3 random shows and they were all Fez crying the whole show. ;)

Absolutely

There were the two AFRO shows from like August or September 05 before Ron and Fez started.
I think they did the whole show with Ona for like two days.
Ron gave Fez's number out.

I've tried to scan the titles but they don't mean anything to me. R&F shows are hard to say "you know the show when they....."

Not sure, but there are a lot of great bits and segments available for download from RonFez.net.

One of my personal favorite shows was the day after they discussed Mike Vick's dog torturing case and Ron got a lot of negative emails from animal lovers.

The whole show he was giving away "Scruffy" the puppy...fucking classic.

I have no idea what the date of the show is though.

The Christmas show from 2006 was pretty good, when Wackbag gave West Side an Inno with his "greatest" hits.

I always tell people to start off at the very beginning.

How many 9 year olds can you beat up?

I find the show to be a tough sell for friends of mine who could become new listeners. Ron talks down to everyone so much these days. Dave makes no sense in general. Fez is hardly noticeable unless he's crying, and nobody wants to hear that as a first show.

If you don't mind going very recent, I'd suggest one from March 21. It was the one with the Dave-Earl grandma shit. I'm not sure if he'd get it because he doesn't know the guys, and I'm not even sure if Fezzy was there, but it was the funniest show I've heard in a long time.

One of my favs!

Also good:

-Last song to listen to as you die
-Fighting with baby animals, and how to beat them up (of course, Ron has the best techniques)
-Tallest caller gets tickets to a concert (The tallest caller I can remember is 34')

I like that one too, mainly because I called in with Earl's baby dinosaurs and Ronnie said he'd beat em with a 2x4.

The baby animal fighting stuff was great, I'd give someone that.

8/9/05 was the first time they were on XM with O&A, I think that was the only real AFRO show since they both been on XM.

I like
-Fez's Parents Party (Tossy the Salad, Pittsburgh Platter) 7/10/06
-How Far You Could Throw A Baby 8/3/06

Saint Mikey of the Internet has set up an excellent free archive of R&F clips over on ronfez.net if you dont want to use audible.com.

I remember one show in general from XM that might be cool. Then again maybe not because he isn't into the show already.

It was the one with the Jenna Torturers where dave gets spanked and an enima etc. During the whole show Ron is talking about Fez finally coming out of the closet. Its also the show where the whole I love Dawn Cumia Anthony's suster bit started I think even Fat Opie calls up.

Then there are the Animal fighting ones.

The how many 9 years olds could you beat up that even has Master Po on it is pretty good.

Hard to say really. Honestly, the Ron and Fez show of WNEW and very early XM is probably the best options to choose from if you want to go that far back; recent shows don't really give a good picture of what R&F are capable of.

I'm in Cleveland, so the only part of NEW shows I heard would be from the AFRO shows. And even then, it was difficult to get a good perspective on who R&F was.

Seconded. Don't have him get any recent shows or he'll think everyone is so useless or such an asshole that he won't give it a second listen.

Holy hell, have your friend listen to today's pre-taped show. Sure I was high as a kite when I was listening, but the 30 minutes or so I heard were just golden.

True.

It wouldn't be a bad thing if Ron gets over his codependency issues puts Fez outs to pasture for a while if not for good and gets a second mike who can function.

Dave's too annoying to be anything more than an occasional third mike so that rules him stepping up but the good news is there are plenty of good comedians out there- off the top of my head Nick Dipaolo would be my choice if money and availability aren't factors.

I'm fairly certain Nick wouldn't do it. I think Mooch and Dave would be fine as shifting second fiddles. I think Dave is good enough to handle second mic full-time.

As far as recommendations go, I loved Ron talking about Tony LaRussa's DWI from FreeFM.

I am losing my patience with Fez. If this is a bit, end it. If it is real, XM should suspend or fire him pending psychiatric treatment. (That being said, I want him to recover and not lose his health or job.)

Most the reason Fez isn't comfortable on the show is because the show changed from Ron talking to Fez, to Ron talking to 3 other people. Fez needs consistency, that consistency went away when Dave took a lot of the spot light. While Dave was brought on the show to contribute, Fez isn't the one to compete, but instead, he assumes that someone like Dave is there to pick up slack , which in Fez's mind makes Fez feel useless. Fez ain't coming back anytime soon unless the show goes back to what it was: just ron and just fez talking to each other and taking phone calls.
