I'll start this off with last weekends night out. Post up your favorite NYC eateries...

Quality Meats Steakhouse on w.58th & 5th ave.

Same restaurant group as the Smith & Wollensky empire, very rustic and elegant, dark ambiance, prices are high as expected. $42. for the 12oz filet which was the best piece of steak I can recently remember. The offer a few steaks cooked on the bone and with the best homemade popover bread, a great wine list and excellent desserts you cant be disappointed.

Went to a cool little place on the upper east side the other day for lunch.

Tiramisu on 80th and 3rd. Go with the risotto.

Speaking of risotto, I have to throw in..

Risotteria on Bleeker st.

It's an allergy friendly, small eatery that caters to gluten allergies. They have gluten free pizza and soft bread sticks along with killer risotto dishes. I'm not even allergic to flour (wife is) and this food is damn good. They have gluten free bread crumbs and a ton of take out so you can cook flour free at home.
Oh they also have beer and wine as well as gluten free beer!

Allergic to flour... I'd kill myself. Sounds interesting though.

I'm poor, so I can only mention a few fast food places that you may or may not know.

Zen Burger (lex/45th) zenburger.com - best vegetarian based fast food i've ever had. - fake beef/shrimp/chicken/tuna - the "zenshrimp" even has shrimp texture). i'd invest in these guys if i had any money.

NY Burger Co (park/24th and 6th/21st)

PopBurger - (9th ave/15th and 5th/58th) slider joint with a hip lounge

Qdoba and Chipotle locations all around too, (Baja Fresh is not in the city yet)

there is also a growing trend of chinese-owned cheap tex mex joints - they're run exactly like chinese take out joints.

If you like Indian, Cafe Spice on University and 10th St. is great. They have a good lunch menu too. No buffet bullshit.

Always get a good meal at Junior's (http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/juniors_cheesecake/Juniors_Cheesecake_Home/Our_Restaurants.php) by Times Square. I really
prefer to go to their place in Brooklyn though.

[Ham and Egger] I like to go to the Olive Garden in Times Square, because it's what I'm USED to. [/Ham and Egger]

Seriously though...

St. Andrew's Restaurant on W44th between 6th and Broadway.

Try the Haggis and Scotch eggs. The bar kicks ass too. Check out what they have on tap...

That joint is my idea of heaven... or Valhalla, as the case may be.

Virgil's BBQ....make sure you have the hushpuppies!!

The cafe upstairs in the MOMA has some really kickass food also. There's usually a line but it's worth it.

I'll second Virgil's, but don't even try to get in on a weekend. We went on a weekday afternoon and got right in.

I'll add Cendrillon (http://www.cendrillon.com/menus.html). I ate there with a party and the menu was set & served family style, but OMG it was so good! I gotta find out how to make the popcorn with the garlic. MMMMMMM

i noticed that one night, much to my shock....i think it is no penetration porn, but its definitely john holmes-era stuff. that owner owns some authentic warhols and basquiats and posts some of them there.

LiddyRules' post about ribs made me think of this one:

Blue Smoke. Probably best BBQ I've ever had. Definitely worth the extra money. Get the ribs.

I'll second Blue Smoke. Along with the ribs, I'll recommend the pulled pork and the side of mac and cheese as other good choices. Plus Boylen's selection of soda, black cherry being the best.

Hill Country Texas BBQ

Everyone gets a card. And you go upstairs and there is a butcher type section where all of the meat is cooked. You tell them what you want, they take it, weigh it, wrap it in paper and then put a sticker(like you'd get when you buy cold cuts) on the back of your card. Then you go to the Sides Station, the mac & cheese is awesome. So you can literally get your food within 5 minutes of sitting down.

I'm getting this second hand, but Flea Man assures me that this place down in the East Village serves a delicious tube steak:
