Anyone else like him here? He's an acquired taste, and more than a little self-sabotaging at times, but original.

p.s. - when Vos mentioned he would be playing some place that Kindler had played, it seemed like Norton dissed Kindler. I'm not sure if I've ever seen Norton dis a fellow comic (other than Crystal in black guy mode). maybe i misread that (he asked vos to name some funny people who had played there and then said he hadnt answered the question (after saying kindler)).

Here is a link to a rare old .pdf file to a "Hack's Handbook" he wrote for National Lampoon.

He was calling out hack comics from the stage back in the early 90's, before it was cool. I'm still trying to find the famous set he did during Conan's first year where he literally received NO RESPONSE from the audience for his entire set. It went so badly that when the next night's comic had a joke fall flat he said "Uh oh. I'm entering Andy Kindlerville here."

I wouldn't read too much into Norton dissing Kindler. Norton hates just about every "alternative" comic ("Alternative to what? Funny?"), and Kindler is a god to the alternative/anti-comedy crowd.

I hate most of the alternative scene, but Andy Kindler consistently makes me laugh.

Ditto. I'll never forget his joke from his HBO Young Comedians set about riding the train as a Jew and not trusting the destination..."yeah Baltimore- Stuttgart!" Obviously it doesn't translate well to a written post, but I can't think of either Baltimore or Stuttgart without remembering this. Its a shame, cuz Garofolo was on that same show and their careers took different tacks from there. So was Judd Apatow, who's found some small success in the movie biz. Her vs. Kindler is almost the same diff between DiPaolo & Apatow. Nicks by far the stronger comic, but probably the smaller bank account, again by far. Thinking back to that makes me feel old at 30.
