I had a bit of a tofu interest for a while, but it kind of went down... problem with it was i couldn't find much easy/simple ways to make it. Some of the "Tofu Smoothies" looks interesting.
Anyone care to share their thoughts/recipes?

I lived off tofu when I was a vegetarian years ago. I used to take the firm or extra-firm and marinate it (soy, teriyaki, etc.) and cook it in a pan.
I would also make chili and use the tofu in place of ground meat.
For dessert, I would take the soft or silken tofu and mix it with fruit and some sugar and freeze it slightly if it it needed it.

tofu is kind of like chicken, by its self it doesn't really taste like anything i eat it but not on a regular basis

I use it more like egg whites. Even sliced, fried, and on a sammich.

Tofu is best if you make it from a traditional Japanese recipe. I'm not a vegetarian at all, but if it's made properly I don't have a problem eating tofu at all.
Agedashi Tofu is super easy to make and tastes a thousand times better than any recipe that tries to use tofu as some sort of vegetarian meat-like substitute:

If that sounds too difficult (it really isn't) then just go to a good Japanese restaurant and ask if they can make it for you. Most will.

always likes the firm/extra firm... the mushy stuff takes a while to get used to texture wise

I was a vegetarian for about 8 years and I could never bring myself to stomach tofu. Just the consistency of it in my mouth makes me want to puke.

It took me a while when i went through my veg/vegan years to get used to the mushy stuff... The firm is REALLY good though. Not mushy at all and could be used in a LOT of dishes.
It also always good to find a place (like burritoville in NYC) that uses TVP and soy protein as meat substitutes. Their vegetarian burritos are better than the ones with real chicken or meat.

I have had it all. There is a Hare Krishna temple here that has some of the best vegetarian food I have ever had minus their tofu. I still go there from time to time but I have never been able to stomach the tofu. The firm stuff is just as bad as the rest.
Tofu and black olives are the worst things ever. :)

It's the best on a MacDonalds Big N Tasty... :)
had to...
I really like it in Szechwan recipes... the heat distracts you from whatever protein is in it... so you might as well have the Tofu.
try this one minus the pork :
