I just got off the phone with a friend who has a son in third grade at an elementary school in my township who just today received a letter in the mail from his sons School, in a nut shell it informed them that there was a 3rd grade student that is a transgender individual. It went on to state that his third grade child would be having a discussion about the individual and how to make a social transition in school. The school district scheduled this meeting with the kids for tommorrow, no time for he and his wife to even discuss this with their own kids before the next school day.

2 things, first off WTF is up w/a 8 yr old transexual????? How can a child not even that mature have some sort of sexual fucking identity crisis?????? I'll make the immed judgement that the parents must be real psycho fuckin train wrecks but that's besides the point at this period.

Secondly, why would the district not even give other parents a decent fuckin heads up in order to discuss this shit w/their kids at home??????

This country is fucked. Glad I send my kid to a private school, costs me a fortune (he's a teen now) but at least I don't have to concern myself w/shit like this WTF???

Going to school is about learning. Learning to read, write and learn a little about history maybe. All people should get this opportunity. The last I heard gay people look the same as the rest of us before they start dressing all faggy. Last I heard, school isn't about sex.

Maybe he was. The kid could have been born with one of them questionable sex organ situations. It is rare, but it happens. The parents make a decision at birth whether to raise it m or f. I think they follow it up with drugs or surgery so the kid develops the proper anatomy.

1st of all GD, I love when you're drunk and make sense.

If you think that this kid will only be picked on for a few days, weeks or months, you seriously have to get out more often and it won't just be words. I knocked my two front teeth out when I was eight and had to walk around with two silver teeth until I was 16. I can't begin to tell you the abuse I took for that. Kids with braces on their teeth were more normal looking because at least there were others walking around with them on too. Kids like to pick on people that are different.

The kids (and parents) need to be talked to because they won't understand why the boy is dressing like that. I'm not sure whether he had two sex organs and they chose which sex he would be or whatever the reason. There is a difference between a TG and a TS. (ask lil Jimmy el-o-el). This isn't just a case of being gay or liking to wear dresses. If he were gay, he'd still be dressing as a boy - you can hide that. Most cases it isn't a choice to be that way, you are born with it. I always went by the thought that if it didn't happen in mother nature, then it's psychological in humans. I was wrong, there are animals out there that engage in gay sex.

Transgenders would disagree with you. Many of them have a consensus that they were born the way that they are, or rather, they were MEANT to be the opposite sex than what they were born with, genetically, but the error came in nature making them male, or female, what have you.

There's some science out there that transgendered individuals (and possibly homosexuals) have different brain chemistry which is more similar to the opposite sex than the gender they were born with, but unfortunately it's all very new and untested, so we don't have a definitive answer to point to.

I'm of the opinion, though, that there is a biological component to it all. Both transgender and homosexuals. I don't believe it's just psychological.

Look, I don't think that people choose their sexuality, period. You are what you are. I have a few gay friends and 1 transgendered (female to male) friend. ALL have told me that they have known that they weren't "like the others" from the moment they could think. Even if they didn't have the sexual feelings at early ages, they had the mindset.

As for the issue with the kid in school and the school sending a notice, to be honest, I think that they are doing the right thing by having a sit-down with the kids. Ideally, the kid would be transfered to another school and introduced as Katie or whatever, but since that was probably not likely to happen, talking to kids and giving them factual information certainly isn't going to be a bad thing. Growing up as a gimp with a weird skin thing, I can totally relate to being different and not having something easily explainable, so therefore kids come up with their own crap.

Of course, there will be some little shitnuggets who harass the kid - can't avoid that - but maybe if the kid has a couple friends who help her (him but her) through it, it won't be as bad.

Close, but not quite accurate. Every human fetus actually begins as a FEMALE - possessing two X chromosomes (females of our species are XX). However, if a fetus is to be male, changes occur to turn one of those X chromosomes into a Y.

As I said before, there's some medical research out there which argues that the brain chemistry of transgendered folks and also some homosexuals are more closely resembling the brain chemistry of the opposite sex (whatever that might be), which does pose one question - if that's true, is it possible that something goes "wrong" in utero which causes the fetus to eventually become gay / transgendered.

It's so weird this thread came up. My mother-in-law just went down to Mexico for a "Quincenera" (kind of a Mexican version of a Sweet 16, but more important and religious).

She came back with the video of this huge event (her dad has serious $$$) and we were watching it and it's so obvious that the girl is boy trapped in a girl's body because there were family photos included and before and after vids of the Quincera.

I definitely think that sometimes that egg and the chromosomes get a little out of place and that happens. I know there's that ole gag "are you born gay or just sucked into it?" but I believe the former.

Not only that, but I also found out that my wife's cousin was raised as a girl her whole life, but at 34 when his/her mom died he decided to tell everyone he was really a guy and married a girl. Rumor is he/she is a hermaphrodite.
