This thread makes me hate my life. I live in the void of good pastries that is PA. And when I do get to Chicago it's never for long enough to stop and enjoy this goodness.

Let's hope Ronnie figures out a way to ship pussy. Then shipping this fine cupcake will be simple.

If it was a plain cupcake you could mass produce, that'd be too high. The Ronnie looks like it has some time consuming handiwork involved with assembling one. I don't think that's too bad for a specialty product.

I don't drink coffee, but Starbuck's maybe started the out of control prices. For christ sakes it's flavored water. The cupcakes take skill atleast, and they look great too.

I think I draw the line at a 2+ hour drive to LI to go to FH Riley's. A 2+ hour plane trip for a cupcake is a bit much for me.

This is all really surreal for me because up until about 6 months ago, I managed the building that Molly's is in for about 4 years. I actually leased the store to the guys at Molly's and checked in on their progress frequently.

They did an AMAZING job with that space - I will say that when they took that space, it wasn't exactly stellar. But they gutted the entire place and started from scratch. I was always really impressed with their ideas (especially the swing seats for the kids) and knew that they were going to do well. Lincoln Park is perfect for their business.

Now with the help of R&F and HTG, they are going to make a killing if they haven't already. I was freaking out when I first heard HTG come in and start talking about Molly's and am just really glad that they are getting this type of publicity.

I was in Chicago a couple months ago and got some. I wouldn't recommend shipping them anywhere, as they probably would be a mess when they arrived. I'm sure it would still taste good, but you wouldn't get the whole experience of it.

I think they'd be fine if they were frozen and shipped in dry ice, but then we'd be looking at a $20 cupcake.

Went to Lincoln Park last month. Near 3 hour train ride from South Bend, and it was worth it. Good strong coffee helps take the sweet edge off. I'd love to see a place like Molly's in South Bend. If they could get a place close to Notre Dame they would clean up.

Me and my girl are planning a cross country trip in the fall 2010.
Hopefully the Ronny B cupcake will still be around by then. We've already planned it in to our trip.

I brought several back to Vegas with me, and alas, they did get messed up along the way. Still tasty though, and I'll try packing and carrying them better next time.

Cupcake packaging does suck, especially if you're traveling a long way. When i go out to Chicago and bring stuff back I usually go to Target and pick up a $10 tupperware type cupcake carrier thing. Its 'cradles' that hold each individual cupcake are a little better than the cardboard take out boxes (although still not foolproof) but it also keeps them fresher.

Since mike doesn't post on message boards, I just want to pass along a huge thank you from Mike and everyone at Mollys to everyone who drops by when they are in Chicago and especially those who make long trips to check out the Ronnie B.

I don't know if anybody has tried it but I know that somebody left the cake in the rain.

I had my 61 year old mother fly me back a half dozen Ronnie B's and a half dozen assorted cakes a couple weeks back.

As much as she told me she preferred smuggling me Cuban cigars as opposed to the more cumbersome cupcakes, she said that the staff at Molly's was extremely friendly and that the place was "cute". Oh, and that "that Ron Bennington's got himself one hell of a cupcake. You tell him that." I didn't have the heart to tell her that despite listening to his voice for three hours a day, I don't actually know the man. But... I ate them cupcakes like we were best friends.

I just had one last night, for $3.50 it was alot smaller than I expected and it wasn't quite the religous experience some people describe it as. It's a damn good cupcake though. I just wish there were more than three bites to it. The strawberry shortcake cupcake was really good too.

Just wanted to let people know that Mollys will be closed for a few days for the christmas holiday and will re-opening on Sunday at noon.

I know a lot of people travel during the holidays and might be in the chicago area, and I'm hoping to avoid anyone going out of there way to check out a Ronnie B only to find a closed shop.

Huge apologies for any inconvenience!!!!

Also, this is probably a great opportunity to just say thank you for all the support from everyone who has come down to the shop in the past year to try the Ronnie B. The love from ron fez listers has just been overwhelming and is incredibly appreciated. So thank you, and happy holidays from Mike, everyone at Mollys, and me too.

Very cool of you to give the heads up.

BTW, for all those who might not know, the cupcake history made the back outside cover of the book :

Ron Bennington's LOTD Vol 2. A photo of the cupcake is also there.

Sorry, book is sold out. But, photos are here on Wackbag.
