A big fox in the wetlands here just got my pet duck. We had to bring her to the vet to put her down. What's the best way to kill a fox and its 2 children? I'm leaving for spain in 2 hours and when I come back my goal is to kill these foxes.

They will think it has rabies and trap it, kill it and test it...

If it had been, the duck's murder would've been fair and balanced.

One of these with an entire package of Oscar Myer bacon stuffed in between the jaws.
Buddy of mine had a real issue w/foxes fucking up trash, killed his dog etc. last year, this worked like a charm.
by the way if you're not satisfied killing the fox, continue to refill this w/bacon my friend ended up nailing like 3 possums a friggin huge racoon and a skunk, he gave up w/the skunk. They were all guilty of fuckin w/his trash but he saw the fox running away after having mauled his dog.

You'll need another duck of course to lure them in... However this duck will be packed with explosives! muaahahahahaha!!!
Just shoot the fuckers with a .22 and I can't stress this enough Subsonic Ammunition (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/50017-64317-304.html). If there's no reason for them to come back though you probably won't see them again.

You should check into if those are endangered or protected otherwise somehow. You could find yourself in a world of shit if you get caught.
You may be within your rights shooting them on your property, fearing for the safety of your kids, wife, other animals, etc.
I think just by taking care of the mom would pretty much be a death warrant for the pups, depending on how young they are.

Jesus show some fuckin' compassion for once... the guy's PET got killed.
It's not like he randomly found a fox wandering around and decided, "fuck it, I want to kill it."
No, his PET was killed. Something he cared for. And he wants a little revenge. Not a goddamn thing wrong with that.
Also, what if Pap wanted to get another pet duck, and for a split second, he has the duck out... this fox -- which has learned the taste of duck -- comes back. The fox is a threat. But the revenge reason is more satisfying.
Pap... I say find a friend who owns a firearm, if you don't have one yourself. Trap it, then exact revenge.

ummmm were there eye witnesses to the duck being assaulted? most of the time when a fox gets a duck the duck ends up dead quite quickly foxes are quite efficient. if he didn't really see the incident i would bet on a domestic cat being the culprit not a fox, a fox kills for food domestic cats kill for fun.

I saw a fox packing off one of our ducks at sunup one day. He had slipped in thru the field fencing and couldn't get back out with her in his mouth. I got a 22 (that was in the house and had a full mag), opened the 2nd floor window and made a nice 130 yard shot into his brain. Went out and pried his mouth open and the duck jumped free and quacked away. Died a few days later from infection.
Then what happened?

it is the foxes nature to hunt and kill for the purpose of feeding/protecting their family. how ridiculous for you to seek revenge on a wild animal for following their instincts.

Personally, my answer would still be the same. Nature is nature. Predators, such as foxes, hunt to survive. Whether they kill another wild animal or a pet, same damn thing. I've had pets killed by wild animals, never bothered me except that I missed my dogs.

yep. thats why i keep my puppy on her leash as much as possible, and yes, if she did get away and i knew for sure a fox got her not only would i kill the fox i most likely would set traps and make god damn sure i killed every single one that was around. that being said, i think we have a hybrid wandering around here, next time i see that fucker he's getting a .22 in the brain, the gun is loaded and at the door with the night vision scope, i scan the yard at least twice a night looking for it. the only reason i havent gotten it is because i dont want to set out a bait pile for it.

This is truly how I want the apocaplyse to go down.:haha7:
When this thread first popped up I was kind of cold hearted and agreed with most of the people that said it was your fault for not keeping it safe. I talked to a manager at one of the stores I service and she used to have 4 pet ducks that she lost one by one by a fox. She was crying and the way she explained how they were trained and how friendly they were just broke my fucking heart. She did have them fenced in and in a house/coupe at night but the fox just dug under the fence.
I still don't think the fox should be killed, it was only doing what it was supposed to do find food. She even said that.

Back from Spain. We had the duck for 8 years. We bought 2 of them as chicks(the other we put down 2 summers ago) It has a house, a pond we built for it, and a fenced in yard. During winter we'd keep them inside because it would be too cold for them. It wasn't some random wild duck, it was our pet.
Saw my duck right after it was attacked by the fox, which was still standing by about 3 feet away. I ran out and picked her up, the fox jumped over the fence and watched. She had a nice hole in her neck and was bleeding bad. Me and my bro rushed her to the animal hospital where I had her put down b/c she wasn't going to make it much longer.
The foxes have been around for a year now, and have harassed and now ultimately killed my duck. A local stray cat has gone missing, and I found out today that a dog a few houses down was mauled in its backyard by something, which could or could not be one of the foxes. They too had a fenced in yard. I also have 5 cats, 3 of which go out on a regular basis and are all smaller than the duck. Animal Control won't do anything because the foxes aren't rabid.
So yea I want to kill them for 3 reasons
1. revenge
2. safety of my own pets
3. safety of my neighbors pets
Also for those that say "it's nature, blah blah" yea I know, still not going to change my mind one bit.

well then since you actually saw the fox in the proximity to the dieing duck. your best bet is to get a "live trap" bait it with cat food and just wait, shooting it could be a little tricky, i say trap then drown. do not put out poison

Hmmm we had foxes hanging around the barn... spooking the horses etc... just walked the GSD around (on a long line) when she had to pee and had her mark around the property... it took a while but have not seen a fox since. Oh and def do not put poison out esp if you have dogs or cats.

1. Set a trap up on my property, catch the fox and euthenize it.
2. pay to have someone set up a trap on my property, then either eputhenize or it relocate it.

Easiest, cleanest way to handle it. If the babies are old enough to survive alone, then deal with them as needed. If not, then you just handled all three problems and didnt have to get your hands dirty.
If animal control isnt willing to help, then a trap is probably the best way to go. Id vote to have someone relocate them, personally.

You shoulda had that insurance, you know, the one you really need to have, cause if you don't have it, that's why you need it.
Simple thing, get an old mercury thermometer, or something that contains mercury in it, half a pound of raw meat, mix the mercury into the raw meat, and let it sit overnight in the wetlands behind your house. The fox should eat it, and hopefully die. If for some reason it dies on your property, lift it up and walk the 50 or so feet away from your property towards the wetlands and dump its body there.
