I cannot stress enough the sheer importance of Salt and Pepper.

The kitchen I work in is killing me with the quality of the food they put out.

Whether it's potato salad or risotto, these dumb bastards always under-season their food.

I am not trying to toot my own horn here, but I have never let one of my products go out under seasoned or even untested. It's cooking 101 for christ sake.

salt improves the flavor of everything, and I mean everything.

so how do you guys feel about it, and what are you favorite varieties of salt.

I am huge fan of Hawaiian Red Salt

Salt and pepper can make a huge difference.

I am going to assume you work at a restaurant. Where at, being that you're from my area? (Send me a PM if you want to keep it off the board).

I actually work in a corporate cafe at the moment. I am not too proud of it, but it pays the bills till I can find something better.

It's out in Oaks, like 20 miles away from my house.

Walgreens has a sale on salt this week with a store coupon, two 26oz Mortons for a dollar. I'm set for quite a while.

Hey man, everybody's gotta eat. You might parlay that into a better gig. FWIW, the guy who catered my wedding is an executive chef for a big company (household name) at their corporate office compex. He apparently started out at the lower level and worked his way up. He does catering on the side. Best fucking food I ever had in my life.

For some reason I'm not a salt fan. I always hate things oversalted and I'm kind of sensitive to that.

If you're cooking and you're not actually using a pepper grinder for your peppr, you're not doing shit.

I only use sea salt and I'm not that picky about pepper as long as it is decent quality and fresh. If you use preground pepper just sprinkle sawdust in your food, it's cheaper and tastes the same.

I love those grinders. Currently have the Garlic & Sea Salt, Garlic & Pepper, Steakhouse, Italian Seasoning, Regular Pepper and until one of my housemates dropped it into a pot, Regular Sea Salt.

I'm with Liddy on this one. The only thing I ever put salt on is my eggs. If you want salt on it, put it on after I cook it.

I have my blood pressure to look after...so, only sea salt for me and it's after the meal is cooked. I nor the wife ever add salt to anything while cooking it.

My wife and I recently discovered Chardonnay Smoked Salt and I'm hooked like a junky. It adds such a unique aspect to everything you cook with it!
