I'm opening a pressure washing business this week, and I've been trying to come up with a catchy, yet professional name. Being a Star Trek fan, the one I like the most so far is "Spray Trek - "To boldly clean where no man has cleaned before." I know, it's douchey, and that's why I've made this thread - to get other suggestions. Besides, that business name registered might somehow infringe on copyrights in some way.

So, think suburban NJ, pressure washing business geared more towards residential than commercial and also small-grade. This will be a 1-man operation, and I'm starting small with loaned equipment and working out of the back of my Explorer until I can afford a quality utility trailer. I know you nutcases can come up with something good, and off-color jokes and silly banter are highly encouraged in this thread - it might help with ideas. :)

Aaaaannnn, go....

not sure, but you might have to use two k's in "trek" to escape potential copyright issues.

p.s. i'm reminded of the seinfeld references to:
"the lumbar yard"
"Back in Business”",
"Good Vertibrations",
"top o' the muffin"

here's some more wacky pun names
http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm/content_id.21596/Jetsam

p.p.s.

I'll pay you money if you sneak in Peter North into your business's ads. he is the "sultan of spray."

That is both a novel idea and some encouragement that my idea for a name is not as cringe-worthy and douchey as I first thought.

"To boldly clean where no man has cleaned before."

this part cannot be used under any circumstances because it reminds me of goatse/asscave

there's always online "cliche generators"....
like this one
http://www.westegg.com/cliche/

for "clean" you get
taken to the cleaners
a new broom sweeps clean
make a clean breast of it
clean as a whistle
clean as a hound's tooth
a clean slate
show a clean pair of heels
a clean sweep
clean up your plate

for wash:
wash one's hands of
wash dirty linen in public
it'll all come out in the wash
great unwashed

moegolden, you are both disturbed and non-informative; a true wackbagger.

thinking of a pressure/power washing theme: how about "More Pressure To Ya"
maybe something like "Clean Streak" or you could do the AAAA Pressure Washing type name so you have the first listing in the phone book. There's a company out there called "Ace of Spray" and several with Klean or Clean or Blast in their names (one is called "IT’S A BLAST" in California. You might also try to work in Garden State or some other local reference.

Thanks DT, but I don't think I'll be advertising in the phone book as I don't have the money to do so. I will say that the names you stated make me think mine is more catchy than douchey, actually. Maybe I will go with the Star Trek themed company name. Spray Trekk with two K's is kind of ehhh, but if using an extra 'k' protects me from copyright infringement, so be it.

After some thought, I realized I could simply name it Spray Tech and still use the goofy Star Trek slogan. Though "tech" makes it sound technical and just somewhat odd if I use the slogan. Ohhhhhhhh IDK....i'm lost.

Douche Nozzle Power Washing?

Maybe d0uche_n0zzle will let you use his WB name? ;)

Kegel Power Washing

On a serious note, what about just using your last name? No worries of any copyright infringement ,and maybe it's just me, but I would put more trust in a person who would put his name on the line, as opposed to some corny name. distortion9 could have used your help here.

Good luck

Use the words "pressure wash" and the name of your town of operation into it, simple as that. Example: Pressure Watch of Vineland, etc. Why? so that when people go to Google (the Yellow Pages these days) and search for a local pressure wash contractor, they will easily be able to find you in the "Search Business Results" section on Google Maps, etc. You can get a free Google Map listing of your business and it would most likely generate good click traffic as opposed to paying some ridiculous rate on Pay Per Click Adwords, only about 20% of all clicks on Google happen in the PPC areas the other "organic" click areas generate about 80%.

Trust me, this is how shit works today, people could give a shit over catchy fuckin names, it's all about getting calls generated from local customers who can find you simply online.

Aardvark Power Wash. Like Hoagie said, it pays to be first. Plus, you get a mascot to paint on your first company vehicle.

Spray Tech Pressure Washing.

Enjoy, I take checks.

I see you're in NJ as well. Are you saying you've got a business with this name? I checked with the state, and it's not taken.

No my friend I dont own that business, I own a window door and siding company in Bergen County, but I too have looked into a side company power washing. For me with the siding company I thought it would be a great idea to provide a follow up cleaning service, but after a lot of thought I didn't see big profits in it, only headaches.
For you, your big money will be in decks/resurfacing and if you can, some sort of fleet washing of trucks. I also think it's important to provide your own water, what do you plan on doing as far as advertising? I have a lot of information on PW, it's on a disc if your local I'd like for you to have it, or I can just mail it out to you.
If you are local, Bergen, Passaic Counties, I can hand out your cards to all my customers, word of mouth will be your main source of leads.
Good luck!

That's fantastic, thank you! I'll PM you or send a message on AIM.

Also, about the water - I just bought a 275 gallon polyurethane tank with steel ribs/cage around it to prevent bulging. Got it for just $90!
