Breaking News: Top WWE Raw Superstar Arrested

Mike Johnson of the Pro Wrestling Insider is reporting that Santino Marella was arrested at 2:57 AM EDT this morning and charged with Driving Under the Influence.

According to Johnson, he was driving on Westshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida when he was pulled over. Marella is currently being held in police custody on $500 bond.

We will post more on this developing story as it become available to us.

ECW General Manager Armando Estrada comes out and announces that the following will be a Colin Delaney contract match.

Vladimir Kozlov b. Colin Delaney

Mark Henry confronts Nunzio backstage. He reminds him that he is the World's Strongest Man in an intimidating manner.

Victoria & Natalya b. Michelle McCool & Cherry

Mark Henry b. Nunzio who brought Big Show to ringside with him. After the match Big Show asks Henry was doesn't he pick on someone his own size. Henry walks to the back.

WWE United States Champion Matt Hardy b. MVP to retain the title with a Twist of Fate.

It is announced that The Undertaker will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against The Great Khali later tonight.

Mick Foley interviews Batista. They talk about his loss to Shawn Michaels at Backlash. Batista says that he lost; no excuses. Foley asks Batista if he thought that Michaels was faking a knee injury. Batista says that the thought of Michaels faking the injury makes him sick. He says if he finds out that HBK was faking the injury that he will get him.

Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins b. Jesse & Festus

Finlay b. An unknown superstar.

The Undertaker comes out. Vickie Guerrero comes out and says that the following match will not be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. She also says that Undertaker's new choke hold (the Gogoplata that they have not named) is banned.

According to both of our correspondents, Vickie Guerrero strips The Undertaker of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship because of his dangerous choke hold. She says that it is to protect the superstars.

The Great Khali came to the ring and tried to take the World Heavyweight Championship. Undertaker attacked him. Undertaker ends up locking the Gogoplata on Khali. While he is choking him out, Ryder and Hawkins come out and take the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. Khali ends up bleeding. Undertaker went after Ryder and Hawkins and ended up getting back in the ring and chokeslamming Khali to end the show.

Off-Air:

Vickie (with Edge), Hawkins, and Ryder leave with the belt.

I sure as shit hope not...I'd love to see a legitimate feud in the tag team division. It's either this or the inevitable break-up of Cade & Murdoch. I would like to see more of the Highlanders & Crime Time...instead of them just being in singles matches or getting squashed by JBL

I just don't understand the break-up of Cade and Murdoch. I haven't seen anything from either guy that would tell me they would be good singles wrestlers. The Highlander getting squashed, maybe that was punishment for the TNA incident. Crime Time, I give it a couple of more weeks, before we see a press release saying that they were let go from the WWE. So I think the WWE pushing the tag team divison recently has just been one big tease.

I could kind of see why they'd do the break up cause Cade has at least the "look" of a singles mid-carder. Maybe they're just trying to generate some/any interest in the tag division.

Mark Henry & Bobby Lashley aren't the only black wrestlers Michael Hayes has had racial incidents with. One source says Hayes has made similar comments to former WWE wrestler & current TNA star Booker T as well. In Lashley's case, it was one of the reasons he decided to leave the company.

Several wrestlers were in the running for the role of Santino Marella's bodyguard, but Derby City Wrestling wrestler Al Barone got the nod and has been signed to a deal. Barone was scheduled to work a series of tryout matcheson this weekend's Canadian swing, but that looks to be off now that he has a contract. For a long time, he worked under the current nickname of Raw wrestler D.H. Smith, "The Canadian Bulldog." He has traveled all over the world, making stops in Mexico, the U.K., Japan, Puerto Rico, etc. His character is basically that of a "mob boss." He cuts promos like one and wears an over-the-top costume, which kind of makes him come of as a cartoon character. Barone recently lost a "Loser Leaves Town" match in DCW, and headed back home to Chicago. Barone would tell people that he is friends with Marella and his dream was to make it to WWE and work as his bodyguard.

Vince's Weird Mood, Bret Hart Backstage At FCW Today, More

Vince McMahon has been in one of his peculiar moods as of he late, and he demanded a full re-write of Raw this past weekend. For the time being, it looks like the wacky booking will continue.

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart visited WWE developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling this afternoon. The Hitman spoke to the developmental talents and gave feedback on their matches. (Source: PWInsider.com)

Ultimate Warrior has sent a thank you message to his fans via his newly created MySpace presence (www.myspace.com/mrultimatewarrior). WWE Heat Has Been Cancelled, Test Blasts New Talent, More

NewsObserver.com has a little web cartoon on Ric Flair running for president. They wrote: "In an effort to win over swing voters before the crucial Pennsylvania Primary, the Presidential candidates made uncharacteristic appearances on WWE Raw. If the pro-wrestling vote is going to determine the future of this country, why be forced to choose from among those posers? Vote for the real deal!"

Several international television stations that air their programming that beginning in June, Heat will be replaced with a new series titled WWE Classics, reports PWInsider.com The show will feature wrestling footage from the 1970s and 1980s, and will be hosted by "Mean" Gene Okerlund. However, WWE Heat will likely continue to run on WWE.com, just not internationally anymore.

Former WWE star Andrew "Test" Martin recently paid a visit to Florida Championship Wrestling headquarters. His girlfriend, Kelly Kelly, trains there. He posted a blog on his MySpace page yesterday ranting on the WWE developmental wrestlers, saying there are "like 90 stars and only 2 will ever make it." He believes that a lot of them are more interested in partying at the Florida area night clubs than improving themselves as wrestlers. He says that they should be taking things more seriously and looking at old wrestling tapes of Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, etc. Anyway, Martin pulled the blog earlier today, perhaps regretting what he had posted. In the blogs' place is the following text: "dddsc."

-- Santino Marella's DUI arrest has been picked up by WWE.com's Industry News section.

-- Marella was pulled over early this morning after an evening out drinking with Kevin Thorn, Vladimir Kozlov, Katie Lea and several WWE developmental talents.

-- WWE's Santino Marella was released from custody at 11:35 am today after posting $500 bond. He was booked into jail shortly after 4A.M.

-- Marella failed several roadside tests given to him by authorities and was booked for driving under the influence. He was later tested for blood alcohol levels, which results returned at a level of 0.061. That number is below the legal limit in Florida of 0.08, but since he was tested several hours after being taken into custody, he is still subject to prosecution on the DUI charges.



Last Time Hardy/Rhodes Defended The Tag Titles, Benoit's Fall

In case you haven't noticed, and many apparently haven't, Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes haven't defended their WWE World Tag Team Championships on television in about four and a half months. The last time they defended the belts on television was the night after Armageddon on December 17, 1007 when they defeated Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch in their lone title defense. Of course, Holly & Rhodes have wrestled tag matches on Raw since then, but they've all been non-title matches.

Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit and the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry, is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com. The book should be available in June. To clarify an earlier report, the book will actually not be centered around racism in World Wrestling Entertainment, reports prowrestling.NET. The book will contain issues regarding racism with the WWE creative team, but it is not centered around racism. It will be an investigative piece regarding the life of Chris Benoit and the pro wrestling industry.

Petey Williams Out Six Weeks?, Global iMPACT!, Zbyszko

The latest word on TNA X-Division champion Petey Williams is that he is expected out of the ring at least 6 weeks due to his broken orbital bone.

The upcoming TNA Global iMPACT! special from the United Kingdom is being taped for DVD - not a cable TV special. Dave Meltzer reports the DVD will be shot and Spike has the option to air it as a special if they want.

Larry Zbyszko is coming out with an autobiography in June. It is entitled Adventures in Larryland!: Life in Professional Wrestling and will be 240 pages long. The book will detail his lengthy career in professional wrestling.

- WWE has put out a casting call seeking Brazilian woman 18-27 years old, beautiful, fit, and must speak and understand Portuguese and English. They are also looking for women who fit the same description but speak Spanish and English. They are accepting applications through the middle of this month. As we have been reporting WWE is gearing up to target South America next year.

- Floyd Mayweather recently told a reporter that he had no new date or planned return to WWE, but that he is open for it, loved it, and would be looking forward to doing it again. He also made comments stating that if he does it again, he wants the same deal as he had last time. He claimed the kayfabe number saying he wouldn't do it for less than $20 million.

Travel Incident Involving Maria, Candice Update, Marella's Bodyguard

- There was an incident during a recent flight when the Raw crew took off from Portugal. Apparently someone grabbed Maria and she shouted out loud, "I can't believe he grabbed me like that. Who does he think he is?" She talked about making a formal complaint and told Umaga what happened and he asked where the guy was. Luckily enough Umaga didn't find him. However Maria was visibly upset shaking after the incident took place.

- Candice Michelle said in a interview with IGN that her recent collarbone injury was far worse than the original. Her first injury was a singular break, while the new injury was a shattered collarbone broken in four places. She is expected to return in eight to ten weeks.

- Santino Marella is pushing for WWE to sign Al Barone, an OVW wrestler, to come in and play his bodyguard.

- WWE Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz has canceled his summer vacation. The feeling is with the lackluster ratings he doesn't want to miss a show since Vince McMahon is more open to outside suggestions when the product isn't doing well.

- The latest WWE CD is considered to be a big flop, as in week three, it only sold 5,897 units and fell to number 113 on the charts leaving the total sales (minus Wal-Mart) at $32,257.

- WWE will be releasing a SummerSlam anthology DVD on August 5th.

It's amazing how important the people talking are, and I only now really see it-Cole is better with Foley than he was with JBL, who I eventually enjoyed, and is at least equal to his work with Taz early on...

Here's hoping the episode holds up. I'm a huge Foley fan, and I want to see him do well....

The fucked up thing about it is, you can find girls that not only look like Ashley, but hotter anywhere. So there is know way in hell am I buying the fact that she is a high price escort. I think if the rest of the story does turn out to be true, its more fallout from the Elliot Spitzer saga. I guess the FBI has the whole terrorism thing under control, that they can now concetrate on escort services.

For those who may have forgot reading the spoilers from earlier this week or didn't catch Friday night's show, an angle was done on Smackdown Friday night where The Undertaker was stripped of the World Heavyweight Title by Vickie Guerrero. Undertaker's gogoplata submission move was also banned as a result of the "injuries" sustained by Edge at Backlash.

The blackout at the end of Raw on Monday was done to set up two things. It was done to plant the seeds of a forthcoming William Regal vs. Triple H feud, as well as a cage match for the title at Judgment Day by not giving away the conclusion of the match right then and there.

John Cena's brother, Dan Cena, is raising money for drunk driving prevention. Dan Cena is a police officer for the Newbury Police Department in Massachusetts, and was involved in a head on collision with a drunk driver in February 2007. Cena has been sidelined since the accident. He organized a charity event to donate money to Mother's Against Drunk Drivers, as well as the Trista Zinck Memorial Scholarship. He'll also use the money to purchase top of the line breathalyzers for local police departments.

The WWE website has an update on the Mike Adamle walk-out situation. According to the article, they reached Adamle for comment, but he refused to discuss anything. WWE.com also added: "Speculation remains rampant in the locker room as well as in WWE offices and at WWE.com headquarters. Some believe Adamle is quitting the company. Others say it’s simply a ploy to make more money." According to the article, they believe that Adamle's walk-out was a result of a hostile environment at WWE events. "Superstars have not been shy about teasing the commentator about his on-air gaffes. Also, perhaps worst of all, Adamle has been greeted by shouts of "Please quit," "You suck," and even "Drop Dead!" from our fans in the rows closest to the announcers’ table. The article concludes by telling fans to tune in to ECW on Tuesday to find out the deal on Mike Adamle.

For the record, ECW play-by-play announcer Mike Adamle is well aware that he's not particularly good at his job and that he's generally disliked. At Backlash on Sunday, Adamle was heavily booed by the fans.

Brock Lesnar will be in Las Vegas for UFC's show on May 24.

WWE has signed former World Wrestling Council wrestler Black Pain to a developmental contract. He will be reporting to Florida Championship Wrestling soon. Pain is billed as being 7 feet tall.

ECW One Night Stand Plans Revealed, Boogeyman's New Teeth

The tentative format for the One Night Stand pay-per-view in San Diego on June 1st is to make every match an "Extreme Rules" match. Last year's show drew 188,000 total buys, with only 124,000 from North America, the company's low mark of the year.

Boogeyman recently got some new front teeth put in. They were knocked out in a accident while he was training to be a wrestler in OVW three years ago. He didn't fix his teeth due to the Boogeyman gimmick. Boogeyman has been out of action since September. He took some time off after suffering a calf injury, but has yet to be brought back to television.

IndianExpress.com has an article on The Great Khali's homecoming to his native land. The article confirms that he married a United States-based girl of Indian origin, Harminder Kaur. In India, Khali is funding the education of his siblings' children and has bought an adjoining plot of land for his parents. TMZ.com has posted an article regarding the story on Ashley Massaro and some other models being tied to an escort service. TMZ's headline reads: "WWE Diva Fingered in Escort Ring?" Initially, Massaro wasn't mentioned in the story, simply referring to her as "A prominent female WWE star." An hour and a half after TMZ's article was published, they named Ashley in the story, citing her denial from her MySpace page. TMZ has contacted WWE to comment on the story, but they have yet to respond. TMZ plans on adding more details to the story as they get it.

It is now coming out that there is a bikini model by the name of Ashley Massaro based out of Las Vegas. She is a few years younger than the WWE Diva, and the two are often confused because they look similar. Rolling Stone's story naming the WWE Diva could very well be a mix-up.

Report: Major Change To WWE Wellness Policy Last Week

According to a new report by PWInsider, WWE wrestlers who underwent drug testing as part of the company's Wellness Policy this week were confronted with more rigorous testing conditions.

For those unaware, past tests saw wrestlers urinate into a vial at a urinal, but starting this past week male performers were required to provide a sample in full view of those representing Aegis Science (the firm that tests WWE's urine samples). Wrestlers, both male and female, were also required to drop their pants at least down to their knees and pull their shirts up above their n*pples.

These new testing procedures were believed to be adapted to help prevent talent from taking advantage of the procedures by using cheating devices. The word making the rounds among WWE wrestlers was that an incident had sparked the more strict testing procedures, but no one is reportedly quite sure what that situation entailed or if was something that never happened to begin with.

Either way, the belief at this point is that at least one WWE developmental talent who has since been released by the company had been caught trying to cheat when giving a urine sample. However, considering nothing could be confirmed at this time it is simply being regarded as a "story making the rounds" among talent. Whether it was based on a fact or a rumor, it was serious enough to cause changes in the testing procedures for all talent.

A number of ECW talents were called over the weekend and were told to be at RAW this week. Some believe the entire ECW roster has been summoned to RAW for some sort of angle.

Ken Kennedy worked in a tag match with Chris Jericho against William Regal & Snitsky last night. I was told that Kennedy did not work completely as a babyface but they are certainly teasing a possible turn with a program with Regal.

Santino Marella worked his first match since being arrested at last night's Raw house show in Hamilton, Ontario. He teamed with Carlito to face Brian Kendrick & Paul London. Kendrick & London won via disqualification.

WWE developmental worker Ted DiBiase Jr. worked last night's SmackDown/ECW house show in Moncton, New Brunswick. He did a job against Kenny Dykstra.

When Raw broadcasts from Toronto, Canada, next Monday night, the cold temperatures will be nothing compared to the chilly reception Randy Orton will likely receive the next time he faces Triple H.

The newly-crowned WWE Champion battled the Legend Killer in a title match last week, with the broadcast ending in a blackout after a disgruntled William Regal pulled the plug on the audio and video. Before ruining the main event for viewers, however, the Raw General Manager did manage to arrange for the two combatants to meet one another next month at Judgment Day in a WWE Championship Steel Cage Match. How will the two Superstars prepare for one another in the prelude to pain?

The discontented King of the Ring saw his coronation ceremony turned upside down thanks to Mr. Kennedy. Not one to follow sovereign protocol, the loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis. came to blows with Regal, who then promised retribution. Kurt Angle Suffers A Neck Injury Overseas This Weekend?

Kurt Angle and AJ Styles wrestled for New Korea Pro Wrestling earlier today. The event was part of Korea’s Childrens day, and the matches were held at the Jang Chung Gym in Seoul.

- AJ Styles defeated Ryuji Hijikata and Hung Tyun. Styles retained the NKPW Junior Heavyweight title.

- In the main event, Kurt Angle battled Osamu Nishimura (All Japan) and Yeok Bal San (Riki Passan) in the NKPW Heavyweight title match contested under triple threat rules. During the match, Bal San attempted a bodyslam on Angle, but Angle landed incorrectly and may have aggravated his neck. According to the source, the spot looked serious. After the match, Angle apologized to the fans since he was scheduled to do an autograph signing. Angle said he would have to go to the hospital in America to examine his neck situation.

Breaking News: Jonathan Coachman Leaving WWE?

The main reason WWE has replaced Jonathan Coachman with Mick Foley as the Smackdown color announcer is because Coachman has been quietly telling people for awhile now that he wants to leave the company to focus on sports broadcasting and WWE wanted to be ready incase he did leave. He recently interviewed with ESPN and had been doing additional broadcast work for both the MSG Network and CBS' College sports broadcasts of late.

And now, I can report that ESPN has actually hired Coachman as an anchor. Most in WWE believe that Coachman will finish up with WWE soon, if he hasn't already. No word yet on when Coachman will debut with ESPN.

Mark Henry is telling people backstage that he went to Vince McMahon and said, “Either he goes or I go," in reference to Michael Hayes.

Right now there is a real weird feeling backstage because people in the company can't see how Hayes can be brought back, yet everyone figures that he will be. The McMahon's are said to be very high up on Hayes as he was able to get away with getting drunk and singing at Stephanie and Hunter's wedding.

The best part of RAW these days is King Regal.

Regal is fucking TREMENDOUS. I'm loving his character now, that of the quiet psychopath with barely suppressed aggression, slowly going mad with power. Last week's ending to RAW, in particular, was great (IMO - lots of other WWE fans were pissed), with Regal going ape shit in the production van to deny everyone the benefit of the match's finale for not giving him the proper respect. The guy's one of the better actors in the company, his facial emotives are just incredible.

It's supposed to lead to a Regal / HHH feud, which should be awesome, provided they let Regal be the fucking badass he can be.

In an interview with ESPN Magazine, "The Iceman" Chuck Liddell said that after he recently tore his hamstring he still wanted to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 85 in June. UFC boss Dana White had to step in and tell Chuck they wouldn't let him fight. "I was going to fight, too," Liddell says. But then White called and said to forget it, to heal up and come back 100 percent. Liddell is expecting to return to the octagon after the summer.

The WrestleMania 24 buyrate will be announced tomorrow morning by WWE via a press release. We will post it here but I've heard it's around 1.2 million U.S buys.

WWE has announced that Roddy Piper is backstage at Raw in Toronto and will be a guest on Carlito's Cabana tonight.

Vince McMahon was said to be furious over how the Roddy Piper & Santino Marella segment came off on Raw last week. No word yet on why McMahon was so upset with the segment. Bruce "Brother Love" Prichard produced the segment and got an earful from McMahon as a result.

There have been some rumblings about Umaga switching brands to go to SmackDown. Head Raw writer Brian Gewirtz is pushing hard to keep him. At one point, there was a plan for Umaga to go to SmackDown to feud with Undertaker.
