Ok, my kick-ass wife gives me this present yesterday. I was watching This Old House a couple of weeks ago and noticed they had this cool cordless finish nailer. I commented on how nifty I thought it was.
Low and behold, wife goes out and buys me this Paslode 16ga angled finish nailer! I think it's too fancy for me! I am going to put some crown and new casing in the nursery. And maybe later some chair rail in the dining room.
I know nothing about these nailers, I have always used a hammer and tap for finish carpentry projects. I just thought I would get one to use with my air compressor, but then this came along...
I know we have some here that could give some good feedback on this. I am a fancy man and normally don't need cords.

My cordless finish nailer is a Dewalt and it is great, shoots up to a 3" nail and will shoot a lot of nails on a charge. I have a Paslode airgun and it is a solid gun, so it is a good brand. When it comes down to it, after a little while, no nailer is very fancy, just good and bad.

ive gone thru 4 of those in 2 years (company issued tho), gotta say the dewalts a tougher gun but in the end they all get bitchy on ya.

I'm a Carpenter, but in name only. That nail gun looks nice to hit someone in the back of the head with while discussing Huey Lewis though.

way better than a hammer. you can keep things right where you want them and nail it down. your crown or chair moldings will look so much better than using a hammer, you can set the counter sink level also.

I've used both Pasolode and DeWalt on home improvement projects. I don't really have a preference, except to use one of those companies. The Pasolode framing nailer is kick ass as well.

I work for a tool and supply company and I can say that the paslode holds up good, make sure you have fresh fuel and you read the directions for keeping the unit clean ect. Most repairs of those come through as damage from dropping or a fuel related issue. Stay away from the senco airfree's . I belive they are junk and most customers who have bought them regret doing so. I cant comment on the dewalt cordless since we do not sell them. But if you go air then Hitachi and Paslode are the way to go.

all my stepfather buys is Paslode impluse nailers for coredless and buys only paslode nail guns. they are really high quality and last a long time. he has one air nailer almost as old as me (im 25) and a framing impluse about 12yrs old. you just need to make sure after about 2000 or so shots you disassemble the gun and clean it(impulse only) to make sure it keeps working realibly. do that and it wont fail you. youll know when its time to clean it because the gun will start misfiring. but its fairly simple my stepdad can do about 2 guns an hour but he has lots of practice.

the only thing about paslode framers are when you get to the last 3-4 nails on a strip they tend to wanna shoot 2-4 of them at once, load a full strip before the last ones gone and it usually wont happen. like i said mine are company issued so fuck it i dont care. my stuff tho is bosch (good supplier discounts) the only gas gun i got is a trakfast, and those are a world of hurt all on theyre own
