I finally got to make a long overdue trip there Friday night. It was absolutely outstanding. The wife and I will definitely be back soon. We've been to Rivoli's many times and love it (and of course will continue to go there too). But, it was great to find another fine establishment to enjoy.
When you go, make sure you mention you heard Steve on K-Rock & XM during the O&A show, wocka-wocka. :)

I've got a shore house near there and go about every other week to Basil T's. The best calamari I ever had is there, calamari balsamico. I crave that shit, it's a must try! They have good food all around and some good home brews. Some nights there's music too.
I'll have to mention Steve next time I'm there.

Redding,
FYI - Mapquest sucks a fat cock in terms of directions. It made me turn onto a divided highway (where Basil T's was on the opposite side). The correct thing to do was to NOT TURN and proceed straight through the intersection where I could have made an easy right turn into the parking lot. Instead, I had to zig-zag through a neighborhood to get back to said divided highway at a traffic light so I could across and come back up. You'll probably be taking roughly the same route I did.
PM me if you want more info.

i didnt read this forum before I left so i missed your little heads up...either way it was ok and we made it on time for our reservation...steve came out greeted us then had us check out the menu and gave us a little heads up about what to expect...We started with the crab dip which he had just added to the menu and let me tell you it was awesome...when we got to the end of it we were depressed that there wasnt more...but it was ok because we needed room for the healthy portion of his spin on chicken cordon bleu which was amazing...with a side of mash and green beans it was awesome...sarah had the ny strip with crumpled bleu cheese and side of roasted potatos and asparagus (probably the best cooked asparagus i have ever had) desert included backlava (sic) which i had never had before and was glad i had it....also a mango parfait (dont remember the actual name) but it was awesome and went great with our cappucino....It was a great time with great food and great atmosphere. Steve couldnt have been nicer too us and made us feel like we were the only ones there. If you go you will not be dissapointed!

Might it have been the Mango Pannacotta (sp?) All the desserts are awesome but the Tres Leches is my favorite.

I went to their Mug Club dinner this past friday night. Great food. Steve is awesome, but refuses to let me eat anything off the menu :) Not that I'm complaining as he hasn't brought me anything I haven't liked yet!
Still trying to figure out if I get a cool mug club membership kit with an ID Card and a Decoder ring, or if it doesn't really matter cause I always just go and they say "oh you're with Steven's group"

Basil T's is amazing. Steve's a really cool guy and a terrific chef. Basil T's is the only place I go where I order things I can't pronounce or spell and know that it's oging to be good. If you go there and see boneless short ribs on the dinner specials menu, you won't be disappointed. I've had them prepared a couple of different ways and they've rocked every time. The desserts are always great, too. They have a flourless chocolate cake that absolutely rules and Steve added homemade chocolate pudding recently that's easily the best I've had. My girl and I can never decide which one we want, so we usually order both and share.

My brothers and I are taking our mother to Basil T's this weekend to celebrate her retirement. It should be a good time.
For those who have had trouble with MapQuest, if you're on Hooper Ave. and miss the jughandle, there is a sidestreet that runs along the side of a large Commerce Bank (I forget the name of the road, though). Take that road to the end and you'll windup in the parking lot of the shopping center Basil T's is in.

Haven't been there yet but I've had the opportunity to sample some of Steve's cooking
at last year's Virus show and at the recent Wackbag Softball game. Awsome is all I can say.

They'll be happy to have you, but I'm not sure too many of us will be in any shape to tag along. :drunk:
Plus, PNC is a VERY long day, especially when you start gathering/tailgating/setting up before noon.

the track.

I could totally go on Sunday ... I booked myself into the Hilton in Iselin Friday & Saturday nights - it's the one that's on PNC's website. Prepaying in full instead of just putting a credit card hold on a room cost less than the other places I looked at.

Look at Ma, being all FANCY!
As my luck goes, I won't be able to go on Sunday, either, due to a family function.

Got a chance to go to Basil Ts this weekend. All I can say is fantastic.
Steve cooked up some great cuisine and the staff was very attentive.
Had a great time and the food was 2nd to none.
I've spent way more at places and it paled in comparison to what we were served.
He served us a sampling meal that lasted almost 4 hours and we loved everything
that came out.
It took us about an hour and a half to get there and I would travel twice as far
for food that was that good. It was just exceptional.
Basil Ts is also a brew pub that has some great house ales and a cigar lounge
for those that indulge in them. Just a fine establishment.
If you live anywhere near them, I heartily recommend it and say once again:
Thanks to Steve and the staff for a great meal and a great dining experience.
