maybe. I've been playing the ps3 demo for a week or so and it rules. the VO work for some of the single player mission cutscenes sounds like it may be over-the-top but other than that, the gunplay and enviroment destruction are well done.

let's not even begin to talk about the multiplayer. it is much more structured than CoD. i'm just waiting for the full game for more maps and game modes.

BTW, if you were planning on buying BF:BC and haven't DL'd the demo yet, do it because reaching a certain point in the ranking system will unlock additional content on the full game

Got to play it and it's great. Lack the grit of COD4 but it plays just like the old Battlefield and you can use vehicles and have destructible environments.

Battlefield series is the original MMO FPS. I hope it's even better than COD4. COD4's multiplayer was great, but lacked scale of maps, vehicles, planes, etc...

I hope with every online game, the multiplayer gets better and better.

But Blue Heelers right, I still haven't finished GTA4 and MGS4 is coming out, so people will be busy with the bigger titles right now.

so far all i can get is 2 multiplayer modes (gold rush and conquest) and 8 different maps. hopefully they'll add a few more modes via psn/xbl, like deathmatches and such.

so far i've managed to make it to level 4 (corporal) on the demo but they are apparently having server issues already so hopefully all that will transfer to the full game.

but i'll probably only being playing on the demo til thursday because MGS4 is going to consume al free time

On the other side of the coin I've always been sort of a BF fanboy. I'm still playing Modern Combat on 360 and I can't see myself ever getting tired of it. The campaign mode missions get a little tedious, (fucking 30 minute anti-sniper missions, are you fucking kidding?) but I dig the multi player a lot.

Not having the color red makes it tougher to play... A fuck ton tougher.

ok..played for like 20-30 mins.....definitely underwhelmed to say the least.

the whole system of everything being desctructable seemed amazing but its very fucking cheesy in this game...a hummer running through solid concrete...cmon.

Definitely not up to par with the other BF games or COD 4.

and definitely glad i played the demo before buying it.

you do have to look at the demo as just that. by the time the disc comes out, all the glitches should be patched up. everytime i've even bumped anything in the smaller vehicles, even at full speed, the truck takes damage and the object doesn't.

so far the only glitches i've run into in the demo were the sound went out once and the player, vehicles, etc were moving all choppy, but once i restarted the game, they were fixed.

i'm just psyched because i made it to corporal so when the disc comes out i'll be able to keep up with the others. i was a year behind on getting CoD4 so coming in as a private in a room full of 3 and 4 star generals who can jam my radar, i get my fucking ass handed to me.

i'm usually "meh" about most FPS, but this one seems like it will keep me interested during the non-GTA and non-MGS4 time

i got he new game informer today and they gave ita 9.5 out of 10. that says alot since GTA4 got a 9.5. I will definately pick up the gold edition to get the 5 bonus guns for MP

I just played the demo and its alright. If you played any of the latest Battlefield games you pretty much get the idea of the style of game you getting into. I wouldnt go as far as saying its the CoD4 killer. B:BC takes alot of gameplay elements from CoD4 and adds its to its already tight gameplay. I would say that CoD4 still feels and looks more realistic but B:BC has a more colorful appeal to it. B:BC has a more control in the sniping area tho. Another thing people have to know is that this is just a demo. The couple matches I played on had pretty bad lag so hopefully this will be fixed once the game is released.

actually, you are technically right. i mis-read it and GI gave it a 9.25/10. they said the main antagonist shows up kind of late and the ending is meh, but the story, single player and multi player modes are good.

EA will be releasing free DLC for it in a couple of months like new weapons, MP maps and modes.

it definately going to be CoD lite, but i have hopes that it will at least retain the same level of fun

Battlefield online Isn't going to blow cod4 out of the water but it will give it a run. I've been playing the demo now for a week and get pissed when I'm in multiplayer and all the mics drop out. There are bugs in the demo I'd like to know are fixed before I spend the money on the game.

Comparing it to CoD4 isn't really fair as they are somewhat different in their focus.

CoD4 is much faster and more concentrated on solo tactics.

BF: Bad Company is more focused on squad tactics with clearly delineated roles of offense and defense among the teams. I didn't like the "Gold Rush" gametype at first but its really grown on me. The combat gets concentrated in one area which keeps things pretty lively. The weapon upgrades from early Battlefield games is still there but it seems less tedious.

despite the haters, i went ahead and preordered the gold edition from gamestop. i normally do not preorder games from them, but i don't have anywhere else down here to get the gold ed., let alone be able to pick it up monday night. circuit city and best buy are about 35 miles away and they said theirs won't be in until wed (7/25) by 3pm. fuck that. waste of gas

OK, been playing for a few hours.

Overall if you enjoyed the single player portion of the demo you'll enjoy the campaign. Theres no heavy handed emotional thing similar to the Call of Duty series. Much of the humor is tongue-in-cheek with a few fourth wall jokes thrown in for good measure.

As far as multiplayer goes the other maps are solid. theres one other vehicle-centric map similar to the one in the demo and about 7 others that are mainly infantry based. Much like the demo you can tell that there are many folks who have jumped over from CoD4 as many simply aren't aware that they are in a squad and that there are objectives in the form of the gold crates to defend or destroy.

Now off to earn more weapons.

Picked it up yesterday for PS3. It's pretty good. this is the first FPS game I've played on a console in awhile.

Graphics are great, audio is amazing, and runs pretty smoothly. I'm still getting used to the controls but am enjoying the game especially the multiplayer.

This game is good but 1 game mode? wtf How awful..They need to realize games that are sucessful have at least 10 diff gametypes and a shitload of maps...I like the gameplay and single is good..Multi gets boring cuz noone does the objectives and theres only 1 type to play...

"conquest" mode has been confirmed for a free DL soon. i've also heard rumors of deathmatch modes, but om some of the MP maps, that would be a hassle, but a few of them would be very fast paced.

as for the demo stats i'm fine now. i've already passed the max level on the demo fairly easy. only finished the "tutoral" mission on SP.

the current MP is varied, depending how the players in that particular room play. some people just want to keep picking people off to up their point and unlock awards and medals while some just want to flat out win the game. granted the win bonus is only as much as 1 kill, some people just want to win.

i prefer to play recon and pick n166as off

Haven't tried the MP yet, but I have been playing a little of the single-player missions, and it's REALLY fucking good. Solid FPS here.

So far, this game and Frontlines really stand out as two of the better console FPS released this year.

The multiplayer mode is fucking incredible. They do need more game modes and maps, but it rules. The maps are VAST, and you can really have lots of different experiences. I love doing recon and sniping people from literally a mile away. I use the rifle with the longest range and highest power, and on some maps I can fire from so far away, through fog, that it is literally impossible for the victim to have any idea where I am, and they don't have a scope good enough to see me anyway. Absolute gold.

Yeah, COD rocks. The one thing I do like better in Bad Company is the size of the maps. They are big enough that you can truly be a sniper like real life. In COD, with very few exceptions, sniping is impossible. The maps are smaller, and there are very few secluded spots. You get immediately stabbed if you try.

i blame the "kill cam" for that, there are plenty of great sniper spots or at least "sharp shooting" spots in cod its just that you get 1 kill and thats it
then i hunt you down and slit your throat or snipe your ass.... :rolleyes: i just wish i could master the .50, i cant seem to hit shit with it, you need to play "hard core" now there you can get some good snipeing in

on most of the maps, when i play recon, i can get 200-300 average and only die 1-2 times. most of the time it's because some respawned with "squad" and pop up by me and they run off, drawing attention to my area

support is easy points. toss a shitload of medpacks, shoot enemy humvees, repair occupied tanks and drop mortars on enemy breakthrough points. 500 pt game easily.

anyone reached rank 25 yet? i'm on 22 or so (brig general) and wanna know if the "find all five" weapons are available for unlock after 25.

Yeah, after recon, support is my favorite.

I was playing recon last night... it is so sweet when you find somebody else sniping, and discovering spots you used to use, but have since found better ones. Then you just zoom in, they are sitting perfectly still, and you put that .50 cal right in their brain pan. Their body goes rolling down the mountainside. It's just a work of art.

Great fucking game. MP is a blast. I like the use of trucks, tanks, chopper. MP does need some work here and there like in being able to tell the diff beteween your team and the enemy so you dont kill your own guy. Other then that I am having a blast.
