Awesome!
I'd like a bullet and body count for this film. Thankfully they decided to ditch the drunken whiny douche storyline and go back to the Punisher's strengths. Violence with even more violence.

Does look great. From what I have seen of Marvel Studios' recent releases, there must be a new sheriff in town, who is trying to make up for the storyline failures of X-Men 3 and Spiderman 3.

Frank looks a little to young and that hanging from the ceiling is more flashy movie combat then something I could see Frank doing. Looks good though, I saw no strong female characters which makes me believe theres no love interest which automatically makes it a winner in my book. Just blood, death and destruction the way the movie should be.

Add Xmen one and two to that list and spiderman one and two.
From what I was told a few months ago Marvel got sick of there characters being made awfully so they took alot more creative control with there own movie studio. I fucking love that they did this and I'm told DC did the same after that horrid death of superman animated movie.

Looking pretty good. At least there'll be more action than the last one.
One note, at least they brought back the point that his family was killed in a park(Hopefully Central Park) and not on some dock in Puerto Rico. Looks as if they are at least going to try to put the movie closer to the actual story.

50's would be pushing it but I can see early 40's. Maybe old isn't the word I was looking for, I guess grizzled would be more accurate. The beginning of the trailer he looks badass like when he lights the torch http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/blazkowicz/fgood.jpg
but as the trailer moves on he looks less mean. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/blazkowicz/frbad.jpg

i like that Punisher looks grizzled. he's not supposed to be some clean-cut superhero type. he's just a guy whose seen some horrific shit and is out to kill the bad guys and use a lot of guns to do it.

One of the things that disappointed me about Punisher 1 is that he wasn't a Vietnam veteran. I know they made him some sort of soldier or ex-soldier but nothing resonates like him being in Vietnam. I really think we would have accepted it if it was still set in modern times, he was in his 30s/40s yet the world's timeline was screwy enough that he could have still been in the shit.
I know some people complain about the origin of the Hulk in Lee's and the new version but I don't think any superhero origin was as fucked as making the death of Csatle's family a retaliatory hit. Also, him announcing to the press that he's The Punisher was kind of a bonehead move. And I think Dominic West will be a better villain than John Travolta.
I like how The Punisher looks in this. He should look more grizzled and angry. Thomas Jane Punisher, IIRC, seemed more broody.

Thomas Janes' Punisher was a whiny drunken douche, everything the real Punisher was not.
As long as it has copious amounts of wanton violence and a massive body count, I'll be happy.

Exactly and I didn't think the guy playing him looks grizzled enough. Sure in some shots he looks dam good but in others he looks like the goofy guy from transformers.

Why hasn't the studio taken the writer/producers/director of that shitfest and beheaded them all for such transgressions?
I always thought Henry Rollins would be a good Punisher. I guess mostly because he had that semi-musclebound freak look that they gave to The Punisher in the comic books. It's probably too late now for anything like that. Having only seen him in the movie Johnny Mnemonic, I'm not sure of his capability as an actor.

I'm a huge fan of Ray Stevenson (ever since he was Titus Pullo in Rome) so I will watch this movie, just because of that. Now that I have seen the trailer, I have high expectations from this movie, and knowing Stevenson gets to rake a higher body count than he had in Rome.

Heard some bad news about this and as a "Punisher" fan I'm very pissed about it. Seems the director who originally directed it, Lexi Alexander got pulled off the project and was given to Gale Ann Hurd. She was one of the people behind such greats as Ang Lee's Hulk and the 2004 version of the Punisher(plus she's married to Jonathan Hensleigh, who directed the 2004 "Punisher" movie).
She's already at work to cut out 20 minutes of a 102 minute "Punisher War Zone". So what you see in the trailers may not be what's in the movie.
This does not bode well.....
*If anyone cares about it there is an online petition to put the original director back in charge. PM me and I'll send you the link(Thought maybe this site would be a good onbe to bring up on)*

Lionsgate Wants A PG-13 Punisher: War Zone?
Add to Mixx!
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on August 14, 2008
Following up on an earlier article, one of my contacts deep within the bowels of Hollywood and close to the Punisher: War Zone project (source will not be named. Sorry!) told me today that the big fight over the Punisher project is Lionsgate wants a PG-13 cut to be released.
We already know that Lexi Alexander has allegedly been fired from the film. Her own website doesn't even mention anything about the Punisher movie anymore. You would think that even if she were a consultant on the project, she'd be mentioning this huge comic book movie coming out later this year, but that isn't the case.
Of course, Lionsgate can always say, "This was never intended to be PG-13. We always had an R rating in mind." but I trust Hollywood as far as I can throw it. I'm sure there's some Lionsgate exec thinking this film can do what The Dark Knight has done with a PG-13 rating.
And I'm betting it's the Dark Knight impact having something to do with this internal battle over the cut of the film. Dark Knight is PG-13 and made a ton of money. But this isn't Batman. This is The Punisher. The Punisher kills people. Violently. I don't want a PG-13 movie, and I especially don't want one after seeing the ultra violent red band trailer.
What do you guys think? Is Lionsgate going nuts over here? Who really wants a PG-13 Punisher movie? I'm pretty sure the actual fans of the comic book don't. Voice your opinion below or e-mail george@latinoreview.com and let Lionsgate know fans of the comic want to see The Punisher do some actual punishing!
