I searched and didn't find an existing topic on Smart Media Recovery, so...

What I got : xD card that I accidently deleted the pix/vids.

What I've found so far :

PhotoRescue (http://http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/) - $29
Smart Media Data Recovery 2.80 (http://http://www.sharewareplaza.com/Smart-Media-Data-Recovery-download_32173.html) - $29.95
F-Recovery : xD (http://http://www.filerecoverytools.com/products/fr_xd-picture/) - $49.00
Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery (http://http://www.z-a-recovery.com/digital-image-recovery.htm) - $49.95
MediaRecover (http://http://www.mediarecover.com/software.html)- $49.95

----

Good thing is, I haven't taken any pix/vids with that card since I did this this morning, so the data is still there, and not written over!

Has anyone used any of these, or have sugestions for other programs?

I would ideally like an opensource and or free software, as the pics/vids aren't detremental, just don't wanna lose 'em... and don't wanna pay a lot of money for 'em.
(I know... I want everything for nothing  )

The free trials will tell you what is recoverable (and some will let you recover 4 images only, etc.), but of course, you must buy a license before being able to do the complete (pix/vids) recovery.

Any sugestions at all will help, thanks all!

Well, even though this got no replies 5 months ago...

I just came across a free data recovery program that runs on any OS that would normally be used in residential settings and figured it amy be useful for some bagger at some time, during some search...

PhotoRec (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec) is file data recovery software designed to recover lost files including video, documents and archives from Hard Disks and CDRom and lost pictures (thus, its 'Photo Recovery' name) from digital camera memory. PhotoRec ignores the filesystem and goes after the underlying data, so it will still work even if your media's filesystem has been severely damaged or re-formatted.

PhotoRec is free, this open source multi-platform application is distributed under GNU Public License. PhotoRec is a companion program to TestDisk, an app for recovering lost partitions on a wide variety of filesystems and making non-bootable disks bootable again. You can download them from this link (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download).

For more safety, PhotoRec uses read-only access to handle the drive or memory support you are about to recover lost data from. Important: As soon as a pic or file is accidentally deleted, or you discover any missing, do NOT save any more pics or files to that memory device or hard disk drive; otherwise you may overwrite your lost data. This means that even using PhotoRec, you must not choose to write the recovered files to the same partition they were stored on.

PhotoRec runs under

DOS/Win9x
Windows NT 4/2000/XP/2003/Vista
Linux
FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD
Sun Solaris
Mac OS X

and can be compiled on almost every Unix system.

BTW, of the options I listed long ago, the PhotoRescue Wizard 3.1 at http://datarescue.com/ is what I ended up using. It was only $29 and worked perfect for the pix n vids I needed to recover and was a very user friendly "point-n-click" process.
